Rory thought about it. She couldn't wear her old costume, which fucking sucked. It was a good suit. Nice material. That said, the bald cap could come in handy.

"Can't wear the old suit," she said in the same tone of voice he was using. "But the bald cap and old stage makeup... those'll be useful." And Rory was adept at using them, she'd been doing it all throughout school. She'd even considered becoming a make-up artist when she grew up.

"And it's kind of shit, but I can stop at a donation box."

"What about wearing it with a hoodie over it?" He said, keeping his voice low throughout the conversation. The bus stopped and he practically ran off, still dragging Rory behind him. "Maybe no wig, just the bald cap?"

It wasn't too far to his house, and then they could get Rory ready however she needed to and get a move on.

"No wig," she agreed. "Bald cap just keeps the hair from being everywhere." Maybe Rory had thought too much about it, but back home she'd needed to find a way to get a costume together without ever drawing her mother or her friends' attention.

And then they got back to Broen's home, got their things together and changed. By the time Rory was done with her disguise, she looked more like a thin boy. She'd used some makeup to take away the more feminine aspects of her face, used the hoodie to help disguise it further, and the bald cap and choice clothing to hide away her curves.

All in all, Rory was good at this costume shit. Not unexpected, but also not something she'd ever told to her team (or anyone outside of school for that matter).

Broen's own costume was, well, something you might actually expect to see in Halcyon. Mostly black and gray, with red accents. A hood. Long sleeves, no skin showing. And then there was his helmet. Like a motorcycle helmet, but with a narrower profile so it didn't stick out so much. And all silver. Not reflective like his old mask, but a definite throwback if you knew who was under the mask and knew who he'd been.

Broen holstered a gun under his jacket and turned around, giving Rory a good look. Seeking approval? Not quite, moreso just showing off. "You like? Been getting it together myself. The helmet is extra special. Blocks people from reading my fuckin mind."

Which was a real concern here on the island.

Broen didn't need to get Rory's attention. She was already looking over his costume. It was nice. He'd obviously been planning on doing this shit a lot more than just now. But that was to be expected.

God. Rory hated this place.

"Smart," she told him. And then, sounding playfully pained, "it looks good too."

It felt like home, being covered from head to toe, pumped for the fight, heart racing. "Ready?"

Broen peered down at the alleyway below, nestled between a seedy bar and a dockside warehouse. Ah, good old times. Five guys in their stupid cloaks. Like bad B-movie cultists. Broen whispered to Rory, giving her details he knew about the assholes.

"They've got cell phones that let them use magic. It's like. Basic-ass fireballs and shit. Just treat it like you would a gun, really."

He looked down and grinned, though Rory couldn't see it behind his mask. "How about I set 'em up and you knock 'em down?"

The weirdest part was not having to worry about her teammates. She had Broen there, sure, but there was no doubting Broen would be okay. Worst came to worst, Rory let him borrow her powers and he'd fix himself right up.

She gave him a brief thumbs up and a nod at 'I set 'e up and you know 'em down.' In case it wasn't clear, Rory had already told Broen before they began that she wasn't about killing anyone. If that was what he was after, he'd have to do it alone, or find another way.

Broen was fine without killing people. A bunch of beaten up drug dealers wouldn't go to the cops. A bunch of corpses in an alley would get them called out real quick.

Broen gave a small, two finger salute to Rory before he dove off the roof. He kicked his leg, teleporting at the last second and landing on top of a dumpster in a crouch. The men turned and stared at him as he stood up.

"Sorry for the interruption. Just dropped in to see who wants my boot up their ass."
The men in cloaks pulled out their cell phones, acting defensive.

"Everyone? Man, it's like fuckin' Christmas."

And then Broen was gone as the first volley of spells hit the dumpster and the wall behind it. He appeared behind the furthest Black Wing from him and kicked his shin out from under him. This was going to be fun.

Rory didn't even make a sound when she repositioned herself on the rooves and dropped on the group. She didn't aim to knock them out right away. That wouldn't send the message Broen wanted.

Lorelai jerked two of the men's right arms upward and back to dislocate their shoulders. She grabbed them by the back of their heads and threw them forward to the ground as they screamed, cutting the sound short.

Rory leaped upward and kicked off the wall just as a bolt of magic struck the brick wall. She was already across the alleyway. Normally Rory couldn't have jumped that high, but right now, it felt almost easy. It nearly threw her off, except that she was expecting some power fuckery.

Broen watched Rory work, impressed by how easily she just dislocated two men's arms. Not that he didn't think she was physically capable, but damn that was cold.

For Broen's part, while Adrastia flew above, he teleported over to a guy and shrunk, grabbing him and throwing him into the wall. Growing back to normal, he turned and pointed it at one of the other guys like a gun.

"Bang," he said before growing huge and dropping the now enlarged phone on top of the guy. Might've broke his already dislocated arm. Whoops. He took a small bolt of lightning to the torso and shrunk, teleporting to a safe spot to catch his breath.
