<div align=center>Is this it? Kida stared blankly up at the ceiling, his arms dangling loosely beside him, his feet propped up on the wooden desk at the little office at the end of the infirmary, is this what happens when you grow up? He asked himself. He sighed softly, his eyes fluttered shut. Today was a bad day. Then again, when wasn't it a bad day? The day had been more or less quiet, which the man was thankful for. He'd spent a little time catching up on paper work, or at least he had tried to, he was feeling distracted, and ratty above anything else. He wanted release, or a drink at least. His glasses were propped up on the top of his head and he'd hung his white coat up on peg most likely designed for that. It probably wouldn't be long before one of the nurses charged in and asked him what he was doing in here, and why on earth wasn't he in lessons? This is not a place for a school boy! He laughed softly at the thought of it, though it was more or less humorless. Kida stifled a yawn, he didn't even remember the last time he'd gone out, for real, with friends.

A little voice somewhere in the back of his head snickered at him and asked: what friends? "Piss off." He grumbled at himself, yawning again and stretching his arms above his head, settling them back down behind it again a moment later. I'm so bored. One of his eyes flickered over, he couldn't read because none of his books were here, and going over the first aid manuals scattered around the room wasn't exactly what he might call interesting reading, he knew the illnesses, he knew the procedures. Maybe he could sneak off and run away for a little while, just a little while, maybe only until tomorrow, perhaps he could find a pretty boy for a few hours, that would keep me entertained. He hadn't exactly worked very hard today, but there seemed to be ten times more casualties during the colder months, students tended to not avoid the ice. Kida lifted his feet from the desk and spun around in his chair to face the doorway, placing both of his hands in his lap. He looked cute sitting there, hair mussed, a sleepy, disheveled sort of look about him. He could run away right now. No one would notice. Someone would probably try and kick him out soon, anyway.</div>

Oh goodness! It hurt, it hurt really bad. Ugh, why did he have to do that? Man, there was blood. He was bleeding! David looked down, shocked at the crimson liquid making a half bracelet around his wrist. What was he supposed to do now? Um, um. Oh yeah! The infirmary! There was bound to be someone there who could help him.

Ditching lessons wasn't hard for David, he was invisible after attendance was taken and the teacher would never noticed him leave. He slipped out the cracked door, managing it with his skinny and small size. The halls echoed his footsteps as he ran, invisible, down the hallway. Gentle and soft taps each footstep and he skidded into the wall every time he turned. Ahh, it was bleeding more. Pulling his sleeve up to his elbow he watched as the blood flowed down his arm slowly. Ow, he could feel it stinging.

Running into a wall and bouncing back, David shook his head, turning visible again from the shock. Ouch. He rubbed his head for a second before continuing toward the infirmary where he gently pushed the door open. He popped his head in to see an empty room lined with a few empty beds. Um, weren't there supposed to be people in here? He looked side to side before pushing the door open a little more. He pushed his large sleeve back up his arm. The sweater was awfully long and baggy, making him look ten times smaller and making it harder to keep the sleeve off the blood.

David looked around the room curiously before noticing an office down at the end. Maybe the doctor or nurse was there. He heard a chair creek and someone mutter something as he moved slowly forward, slightly wary. The door was also ajar, so he slowly pushed it open to find someone inside. But he didn't look like a doctor. Maybe he was a doctors assistant. But why wouldn't he be required to take lessons when they were going?

Stepping into the small room, blushing so intensely he might as well be sunburned, David tiled his head like a puppy dog, his way of asking where the doctor was. He indicated the jagged cut on his arm and made a curious face, again tilting his head. Maybe this wasn't getting his message across. The blood was starting to slow down a little bit.

<div align=center>A noise caught Kida off guard, a curious sort of expression crossed his features momentarily, he pushed his glasses back down and frowned. A student? He thought that was the most likely option, and his suspicions were confirmed when a small, skinny little boy appeared within his view. His interest was peaked almost immediately, you have a nice face. He leaned forward in his chair, propping himself up on his elbows, and staring at the student. He held the boy's gaze for a little while, a small, innocent smile upon his boyish features. This kid is adorable. Kida might have even pushed it just a little to say he was cuter than himself, I'm adorable. It took him a good minute or two to stop staring at the boy and remember that he should probably help him out. Kida pushed himself out of his chair, and shuffled over, the boy was shorter than him, but not by all that much. His eyes flickered to the cut on his arm, and he frowned, before placing a hand on David's shoulder and turning him around, out of the office and back to infirmary. "How'd you do that?" He asked, softly.

Without waiting for an answer, he sat David down on the corner of the closest bed and began to rummage through a first aid box lying on a low table. He pulled out a small bottle of iodine, cotton wool and some bandages. He almost felt bad for this, iodine stung. "What's your name?" He asked, silver-grey eyes flickering up to meet David's bright green was. Kida stared for a moment or two, his thoughts getting the best of him. He's so pretty. He frowned, and snapped himself out of it, leave him alone, he's a kid. Though, Kida probably didn't really look like he wasn't a kid.</div>

Wow, he almost forgot he was bleeding. The kid sitting in the chair was definitely older than him, but not by much as far as he could tell. He was kind of scruffy in that super cute way that made David flustered. Oh my. Was he still breathing? He couldn't tell. David took a deep breath to make sure he was and then let it out like a sigh. Maybe he should try avoiding cutting himself if this was going to happen whenever he came here.

Okay, so he was an assistant of some sort. He stood to come and help him and when he put his hand on David's shoulder it made him jump and he went suddenly invisible. Oh, gosh, he really shouldn't do that when he was getting help. He squeezed his eyes shut in concentration and spazzicly flickered back to visibility.

When he was asked how he did this he turned even more red, if that was possible, and looking down out of the corner of his eyes to the floor. He didn't answer, not that he had much time to anyway. He was glad he didn't, he didn't want to tell the guy how. When he saw the bottle and the cotton he knew what was going on. He'd had to do this loads to himself. He'd learned from the school nurse and he had to do it because of his mothers boyfriend. He flinched slightly and leaned back as if that would hold off the pain he knew was coming.

When they're eyes met he completely forgot that he'd been asked him name. Whoa, could eyes really be that color? It made him freeze with his mouth open just slightly. Then he realized he'd been asked something and he fumbled for his bag where his name was sloppily written in sharpie. That should answer that question and get him out of speaking nicely. Not that Kida would be able to tell what he was saying.

<div align=center>Kida was, as one should be, surprised by David's sudden disappearance, he took a second to remember that this was a school where everyone could do stuff like that, though he hadn't seen someone that could do that yet. Kida wasn't all that sure why he'd gotten out all these medical supplies, he really could just use that healing power of his that had made it so easy to get through medical school. Doing it the traditional way really would probably be far less pleasant for the boy, and each time Kida's eyes flickered up to look at his face, the blush on his cheeks got darker and darker, it was probably best to get this over and done with quickly. So cute. It became apparent to the doctor that this boy was cripplingly shy. He didn't even want to talk to him, and Kida was just a little confused when the boy opted to show him written word instead of talking. "David." He mumbled, softly. "Okay." He wondered if there was much use telling him his own name, he supposed it would be considered rude not to. "M'Kida, and I can give you two options for fixing this."

The first was the quicker, less painful way, of merely healing the wound with his powers, the other was the far more painful way, but this could probably get David out of lessons for a little while. Gotta check he's okay! It was a pretty nasty cut! He explained each option to David, in a tone of voice that was more or less completely monotonous. He was doing absolutely everything he could to avoid eye contact with this boy, things were going through his head he would rather not think about, and probably shouldn't have been thinking about. I'm such a God damn creep.</div>

Man he was stupid. He should have thought that disappearing like that would freak Kida out. But it was too late now. His blushing face was proof that he was embarrassed, but being touched, even a gentle gesture like that was going to freak him out. He wasn't quite used to things like that.

He shuddered inside when he heard his name being said out loud by Kida. Why did it sound good coming out of his mouth? Sure, he could have said it aloud himself, but Kida probably wouldn't have understood. Plus, he preferred not to talk. He nodded in acknowledgement when Kida introduced himself, not going to offer a handshake considering his right hand was bleeding pretty badly.

Instead his silence went on as Kida explained the two ways he could go about healing him. Oh, so that's how he managed to become an assistant. He had a healing power. But when Kida was done, he chose the longer and more painful way by pointing with his index finger at the supplies sitting next to them. He didn't mind the pain.

He kind of wanted to spend more time in there and he actually liked the kind of pain you felt when being healed. The sting was bad, but it was also good. It was odd, but it was David. So he waited to feel the sting and the heart racing sensation it gave him that would be numbed by the color of Kida's eyes.

<div align=center>The doctor was a little surprised when David opted for the more painful option, though he supposed he just wanted to get out of lessons, and the thought made him smile just a little. Kida probably would have done the same thing when he'd been his age, despite being relatively intelligent, he was lazy as a child, he wondered if the same thing could be said now. He headed to the sink, and soaked a piece of cotton wool with water, just to clean off the blood that was already there, that wouldn't take a moment or two. He returned to the bed and sat down next to David, taking his right hand carefully in his own, and getting to cleaning up the wound. He frowned, it was worse than he thought it had been, though it was in no way serious, luckily. He felt his face heating up, he hunched his shoulders a little and attempted to focus intently on what he was doing. He's a kid. He's a kid. He's a kid. No matter how many those words repeated themselves in Kida's head, his thoughts always wandered back to bad things.

He tossed the now bloodied cotton wool behind him, it landed with a small thud in the bin there. He was happy enough his cleaning, and tipped up the bottle of iodine onto some more cotton wool, lifted the boy's hand a little higher and pressed it to the cut there, without all that much warning. His heart was thudding in his ears, and all he wanted to do was run away and hide for a few hours, it was strange for the doctor to behave like this, he'd met a lot of boys with pretty faces, he'd slept with a lot of boys with pretty faces. You'd have thought a high school kid with a nice face would have been absolutely so problem whatsoever. "Sorry." He mumbled, bluntly. "Stings, right?"</div>

Sometimes hurting felt good. It mostly depended on David's mood and sometimes where he was or who he was with. Honestly, sitting in lessons gave him something to do, since not being in them meant sitting alone doing nothing. But he could always slip out easy from lessons and he really needed to get this cut fixed. It wasn't like he didn't trust this kids skill with his power, except he didn't trust this kids skill with his power. He was hardly older than him, how did he know he wouldn't mess up?

So the painful and simple way was David's choice. It was safer and slower. He knew it would be done right and he knew it would be done slow. That way he could stay for a little longer and admire the color of Kida's eyes. Sure, it wasn't all that stunning, it was just different. And different was cool. Even if it was someone who was very likely straight, that didn't mean he couldn't stare. Even though that was awkward.

He didn't pay much attention to anything when Kida finished up the blood. He looked down to find that the cut was only oozing slightly and very minimally. He smiled softly at it and looked back up when Kida came over. It didn't cross his mind for a second that this guy might be thinking that he was attractive. It would never cross his mind anytime in the next ten minutes of the things that were crossing Kida's mind. He would shudder at the very thought that Kida might be thinking those thoughts.

It kind of made him more red in the face when Kida pulled his arm closer, but he held back from disappearing so that Kida could get his work done. When the cotton ball touched his skin he made a ffff-ing in noise by sucking wind in through his teeth while squeezing his eyes shut, but nothing more. It wasn't all that bad after a little while and when Kida asked it it hurt, though it was probably a rhetorical question, he just shrugged one shoulder and tilted his head left then right to indicate that it was so-so.

<div align=center>This kid was shy, huh? Then again Kida perhaps wasn't the most talkative of people, perhaps he should have become an editor like his mother, he liked to read books, didn't he? He frowned at himself and shook his head, it was too late now, and he had heard that editing books was horribly stressful anyway. He pulled the cotton wool away from David's hand, deciding for a moment whether he should clean it up a little more or not, he decided against it, doing that was just cause unessecary pain, but this kid didn't really seem to mind, after all this was the treatment he had opted for. "You don't say much, do you?" Kida asked, punctuating the end of his sentence with a soft laugh. He was trying somewhat desperately still not to look at his face, his glasses had replaced themselves back on his face a little while ago, and Kida was doing everything he could to control himself, which for him, was pretty difficult. He took a breath, which ended up morphing into a yawn. The doctor apologized softly.

He picked up a roll of bandage, unwinding a short length of it, and binding it around the freshly cleaned cut. He was still curious as to how it had happened, but David was quiet enough anyway, he didn't want to make him run away by bombarding him with questiona. So Kida kept his mouth shut and didn't bother talking about it, it was better that way. "Can you stay here for a little while?" He asked, reluctantly, "just so I can keep an eye on you, or whatever." He bit down on his lower lip, and took his hands away when he had finished wrapping the boy up. God you have a perfect face.</div>

What people thought about his silence was normal in David's eyes. Kid doesn't speak, he must be shy. Mots people wouldn't assume it was because of one of his powers, but most people didn't know his powers. At least, they knew one of them. So he was fine with them assuming he was shy. It actually made him feel a little more liked because people tried harder to get him to talk. It was sweet, but he would never break. He needed to keep the talking to a minimum if he was going to go his life without killing someone again.

Honestly, in the current situation, Kida was the most talkative person David had met in a long time. Though his mother was super talkative. She loved talking so much one day he could just slap her in the face. If she ever let him back into the house. Not that he'd want to. Did he just space off? David snapped back to attention and noticed that Kida seemed to be finishing up. Oh, and had asked a question.

His first reaction was a face that said 'well, duh!' And it was there for a second, shaking the scruff on his head into his face so he had to blow it away. But then he rolled his eyes around and down to the bed he was sitting on then looked up again without lifting his head, repeating the so-so shoulders and chuckling. It was a tired noise, his throat didn't make sound often, but laughing was alright. Anything that took too much thought was not going to happen, he was concentrating too hard on not making something intangible.

David was glad Kida didn't ask how he'd done it. Kida would probably get a little mad that he had been doing that in the middle of class, but David had to have drawing references sometimes. He got a little surprised when he was asked to stay a while, but he nodded that he would, trying really hard to not be too enthusiastic, while looking down at the ground at the last comment. Keep an eye on him? Oh yeah, since he was cut. Not that a small cut needed watching. But he'd willingly stay.
