Sleepy Hollow Café / Cóiste Bodhar

The Sleepy Hollow Café is located a little ways in the heart of downtown Manta Carlos. It's easily distinguished by the Gothic theme with a Tim Burton-esque touch. The front of the building is decorated with ornate metalwork and vines that seem to crawl along its ashen brick walls, along with skulls, candles and red roses that decorate the window panes. The insignia that hangs over the entrance is the iconic silhouette of a headless horseman.

The cafe itself does not fall behind when it comes to elegance and refinement, and it's accompanied by a light but otherworldly ambiance. Inside, the cafe emits a mysterious atmosphere with a soft yet, beautifully haunting music, soft lighting, and Gothic themed decorations--incorporating an amount of black, red and purples from the curtains down to table cloths and napkins. Skulls and shriveled pumpkins are used in place of candle holders and vases for seemingly dead flowers. The shelves are filled with books of ranging from classic novels to collections of poetry. The cafe itself not only serves with a great menu but also an exquisite comfort. Only a few are allowed inside at a time so it's never crowded.

Sleepy Hollow while it's definitely the place for enthusiasts as well as those who appreciate the macabre and Gothic aesthetic, it also offers a large selection of coffee brews, sandwiches, salads, and desserts that are simply to die for. Sleepy Hollow also offers a compelling selection of wine and spirits by request. If you happen to be served with one that comes with a black rose, consider yourself lucky as you have been invited to have attend a special even held by the owner.



The Cóiste Bodhar is a private bar, an extension of the cafe connected past two walls with an empty hall in the middle. The separation between the bar and cafe are sometimes taken away on special occasions. On normal days, the entrance is fully secure. Even cafe employees are restricted access unless given permission by the proprietor. The Cóiste has cabaret shows every evening on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. VIP invitations are given out inside the cafe along with a black rose and a drink of choice.

Cóiste Bodhar has a seemingly hazier atmosphere compared to the cafe. There is significantly lesser decorations compared to the cafe but the very air that surrounds it is thicker and even more otherworldly. For most humans, they would feel as if they were in a hazy dream. The bar offers a wider set of drinks compared to the cafe that is more accommodating even to special guests.

Sleepy Hollow is open from 8am-7pm, while the Coiste Bodhar opens from 6pm until 6am.
