Sitting alone

Amelia sat alone under a tree this was a day since Amelia had last seen Valentine. She looked down thinking she had a dark long rimmed hat hiding her eyes from view. She leaned against the tree a tough look about her, she missed Valentine but wasn't going to look like some lonely depressing girl. So she sat under the tree thinking.

I wonder if he even feels the least bit different since we haven't seen each other. I wonder if I don't matter at all to him. Why does my mind keep acting like he's supposed to? He's just a friend, why can't my mind accept that. She looked up for a second looking around.

It had been after each one of his classes wer over. He had no friends in the other classes and only knew a child of twelve other than Amelia. The twirp. Today was not his best, being his first real day of school.

Walking along, he saw someone that looked like Amelia on the lawn. It was! Why was he so excited to see her. No, he isn't right! I won't admit to that. It just wouldn't be a good thing if we went out. We don't know enough of each other.

"Hello. How goes your day?" He smiled, laying back on the lawn.

She lifted her hat slowly a smile appearing on her face. "My day... It goes well." She answered slowly, to the normal person she was absolutely fine. But if they knew her as much as Valentine they should be able to figure out she wasn't in the happiest of moods. She didn't know whether to act happy or to act like he didn't mean so much to her. She decided to act a mid amount but she already realized the smile at his presence told too much.

She liked her long rimmed black hat for reason of hiding her facial expressions. She didn't like people knowing her too much. But she kinda already let Valentine get too close.

He smiled and looked at the forest. "Hey, umm...I was just wondering, I didn't want to pressure you about going to the festival with me...but I would really really like it if you would go with me." He smiled and sat next to her, his beret still on his head.

"Anyways, I just want to tell you I had an awesome time at the carnival. It is odd...how much..."
He looked down. No! That kid is not right! He is manipulating him! That is it. He had a grimace on his face.

She felt her soften her heart again. "The answer's still yes, I still think it sounds fun." She felt herself feel the feeling she had come back. She remembered she still had his shirt, she didn't want to give it back or ask again if he wanted it back. She had put it under her pillow, it was the first gift she ever got from someone who cared for her. Whether it was just friendship or not she treasured it.

She smiled hearing him talk about the carnival her eyes sparkled lightly. She lifted the hat putting it on the ground. "Me too." She then noticed the grimace, she looked down. She wasn't sure why each time she thought she saw hope, it was quickly dashed.

He looked up to the heavens, wondering who was up there, did they run his life, why was he down here, with all this. Valentine was blessed with a friend and now he is going to ruin it by making things awkward. Valentine didn't want to say it upfront, but he did want to know something.

"Hey, um, how many times has Percy been right? I mean, is he usually or never...because..." he then tried to think "...what he said in the forest...is it true?" He truly had no idea on that one. It was a mystery, his whole relationship with her. It made him scared, the unknown.

She looked down. "More times then I'd want to admit, he knows way too much." she said this solumnly. "He may not be able to have everything, but he knows about everything or at least most things. Why do you ask?" She asked hoping that it wasn't about what he had said about her and Valentine a few days ago after the fight with the vampires.

She couldn't help but wonder, Why did I ever let my heart go this far? She looked at the leaves blowing in the wind she wondered what he was thinking.

He sighed, "Eh..." Valentine really didn't want to say the truth, about what Percy had said to him. It was so...odd...he wasn't true this time though. "I had a conversation last night in the forbidden. It is kind of embarrassing, but I guess I can tell you."

Quickly he began to think of a metaphor. "We talked about how the crows seem to fly in packs and yet there are always some different birds, not crows that are in the pack. I said that the differing birds can't see each other, but Percy said they can, but one of the birds just doesn't know his direction is the same as the other." Valentine sighed on the inside and was also proud of himself.

She looked at him raising her eyebrow. "That isn't the words Percy'd say. He tells it straight out or whatever he was saying. But I guess if that's what you were talking about was birds then why does it have anything to do with what I said?" She said with a sigh. She looked at the leaves in front of her, her mind flashed back to a scene 7 years before.

"All I want is a friend, a friend that'll never leave my side for someone else. A friend that I can hug whenever I want or need it. A shoulder to cry on, and someone to hold me tight and squeeze the sadness out of me. That's all I want God, I know I have you and your the best thing you keep me alive but I need someone on earth to fill that position. And if you would give me such a person I'd never forget it and I'd tell everyone whose alone and needs a friend. That your the best friend in the world and you even give more friends to help us along." She said this on her knees just as she heard her father barge in the door on her birthday.

Amelia looked down tears filling her eyes, she didn't know why that had came to her mind. She never thought back on the past much, she didn't try to either.

Valentine looked to her and then fell to the ground. "Whats wrong? Did I say something?" He wondered why she cried so...suddenly, and he had only seen her cry...once right? He thought back and couldn't comfirm it.

Valentine peered into the present now, seeing his friend crying and sighed. "If you want to be alone...I can always leave you at your peace." He looked up. Crows...do the birds see each other and not know they are going the same route.
