Rae blinked back tears that sprang to her eyes and swallowed a lump in her throat. She had never told anyone what her parents had done or the policeman she had trusted. Maybe telling someone will help me let go of it all.... She thought.

Rae glanced up into his eyes for a brief moment before she started. "Um right after I was born my mother abandoned me. My father was a drunken idiot and..." She paused.

You've opened the floodgate but without any way to control the water you're gonna die.
Your metaphors suck
And your's don't?

Paul wasn't about to get into an argument with Corona. Though, he was right. If he didn't find a way to comfort her, the only thing he succeeded in doing was making her upset. The first thing he thought of was getting out of public. He pulled his face away from hers and noticed that his eyesight was a bit blurry. He was a bit confused at first but then noticed that his vision had corrected itself again. He didn't need his glasses!

Why does this happen...
When you obtain your true power as a Guardian, you will be granted perfect eyesight. It seems that the empathy you have for her sorrow triggered a surge of spiritual energy and allowed you to tap into some of that power. That must be why you sometimes have temporary perfect vision.

That made sense. He put his glasses into his pocket and turned back to Rae. He quickly thought of a way to get her out of spying eyes. He put his arm around her slowly and as he did so remembered that they weren't too far from the lake.

"Come with me." He said softly as he lead her down towards the edge of the lake.

Rae's brow furrowed but she complied and went with him. Why're we going to the lake? She wondered but didn't verbally ask the question.

He sat down next to one of the trees and offered her to sit next to him. It was quite peaceful at this spot during this time. Paul had noticed this sometimes when he trained. The trees cut out a lot of the setting sun but quite a bit of light still got through, and gave the lake quite a beautiful glow.

Rae looked around before sitting down next to him. Hesitantly she asked, "Want me to continue my story or were you going to say something?"

"Please, continue." He looked at her with soft, caring eyes. He seemed completely different than he was back on the mountains. Normally he acted like this when Corona took over, but this was not currently the case. In reality, Paul's mind was rapidly maturing to take after Corona's. Paul would most likely never realize this, however.

Rae thought a moment, trying to remember what she had said so far. She then began again with, "And my father...locked me in a room for the first ten years of my life." She didn't even glance up at his eyes to see his reaction. Instead Rae just stared out at the lake. "Uh, then my mother showed up on my tenth birthday and demanded I go live with her...."

Rae stopped and dropped her head against the tree trunk. "My parents argued for a while and I just stared at them before I..."

Rae struggled to let the words out for minutes, but finally she just took a deep breath and said quickly with her eyes closed, "I hypnotized them and killed them."
