Ava didn't exactly survive without any damage, because of course falling would hurt even if you're on top. The impact shook all of her body and Ava's legs took hit, she could tell that her skin was badly scratched, if not a bit broken. Same with the arm Ava had had around Kalvin's neck. She'd have to go to the infirmary. But it would heal, probably before she got home so Titus wouldn't even notice.

Once they landed Ava hissed a bit from pain and then proceeded to sit on the ground next to Kalvin, looking at the guy with a wide grin.
"That was great! I knew making this club was a good idea, I wouldn't have gotten to fight you otherwise. Wanna call it quits now? We should get on with the critique and then get you to the infirmary."
And herself as well, but you wouldn't see Ava say that in a million years.

Kalvin slowly flopped over so he was lying on his back. He groaned, not exactly keen on calling it quits yet. However, he wasn't any more willing to get beaten up even more. He didn't want Rafael to see that he was putting himself in fights again. "Fine," he groaned. He could feel the familiar taste of blood pooling somewhere in his face. He was right because the moment he sat up, red began to trickle down his face. He looked over at Ava's gleeful grin and grinned back.

"That was fun. Little anticlimactic for my tastes though," he admitted after he collected his bearings and pulled himself up. He held his hand out for Ava to take. Afterward, he dusted himself off and checked for any other injuries that needed immediate attention. There will be a big bad bruise on his face, no doubt--which might be the cause of disappointment from Rafael anyway. His knees and chest took the brunt of the fall. They're beaten and most likely bruised as well. They're at least easy to hide. Kalvin breathed out a sigh as he wiped the blood off his nose with the back of his hand. "C'mon, then. You start."

"You're in my club now. We can beat each other up anytime!"
Ava exclaimed and laughed, when Kalvin said that this was anticlimactic. Ava accepted Kalvin's hand and let the guy help her up, but when he pulled on Ava's arm a sharp, familiar pain went through her. Yep, the bone was probably bruised, if not cracked. That's what Ava gets for staying in human form when fighting a strong opponent.
But it had been worth it. And Kalvin looked pretty beat up too, with blood dripping down his face.

"Okay then. Hmm, the first thing you need after all is flexibility. Like, both body and mind. Trying some gymnastics and stretches wouldn't hurt you. You've got really good technique but you should try to think outside of it. You used your abilities effectively, but you got to try and surprise me. Use 'em in a way that I wouldn't figure out 'cos I don't have the same abilities. But you're a good fighter for sure, you've got lots of experience and it shows."
Ava said, blurting out everything she thought. Honestly, Kalvin was more than capable of beating Ava if she stayed in human form. The truth of it was that Ava and some other supernaturals had an unfair advantage towards normal-ish human fighters like Kalvin. But Ava was more than willing to stay as human as she could get and let her ass get kicked if she learned from it.
"Now your turn. Tell me how I could beat your ass even faster."
Ava grinned and waited for the verdict.

"That is true," Kalvin replied to what seemed like an open invitation to do this again. As Ava began to tell him what she thought was lacking in his fighting style, Kalvin stayed quiet, nodding at times. Obviously, she hasn't seen much of what he could do in other aspects of a fight yet. It all happened too quickly for him if he was honest. But he got beat in the end anyway, which meant that her points had value to them, too. "Yeah, I hear you. And I learned that I need to learn how to last longer in a match against fiery dragon girls like you," he added helpfully.

"Well, I think I already told you a bit about what you're lacking. You need some help with the technical aspect of your fighting. I can help you with that if you want--however," he brought up a finger. "You're going to have learn patience. I was only goading you earlier there and it seemed you took a bit of that to heart and let it go to your head. I mean, it's a good strategy if your opponent has the same temper as you. But being cool and collected can get you to where you want faster. All in all, though, I enjoyed that fight."

Ava tried to keep cool and open-minded when Kalvin gave his critique, but Ava was Ava. Anger was in her blood. So of course the comments pissed her off. Ava did her best not to let it show; she kept a straight face, although Kalvin could probably feel some faint warmth emanating from Ava as her feelings got the best of her.
"Cool and collected? You clearly don't know me well enough yet."
Ava commented and laughed. Just thinking about those two words in association with herself was ridiculous. But Kalvin had a point, which was why Ava's face soon turned back to serious.
"You have no idea how many times my old man has said that. It's my biggest weakness, aside from accepting advice. It's why I made this club, so I could get over it."
Ava admitted and gritted her teeth. Fuck, now her frustration over her temper was flaring her temper. It never ended, huh?

"Come on, let's get you patched up. I heal fast but you don't."
Ava said, and she was right. Ava's scratches from just now were already starting to heal. Man, Ava really hoped her arm wasn't broken or anything, Titus wouldn't flip or anything but he'd give that disapproving look that Ava saw in her nightmares...

Kalvin's eyebrows rose. As Ava's temper seemed to flare up--or was that the room temperature?--he understood her better. Indeed, she was far from cool and collected. If anything, she was the total opposite of it. And while he was sure that the club might help her get over that weakness of hers, he wasn't sure that the club might last if Ava remained temperamental. Hopefully, her quick temper doesn't affect how she leads the club. It would be a shame to see it go. Kalvin decided it'd remain to be seen, but he was hoping for the best. "Well, it helps if you try to... 'unlearn' that habit," he advised helpfully. "Unlearning is the first step to learning anything."

He nodded when she motioned for them to get going. The pain from all around his body was slowly making itself known to him. His nose has stopped bleeding, at least. "So what excuse do you usually give the infirmary staff when you bring banged up people there? Or is the school okay with the sparring club being like the campus fight scene?" He asked as they made their way out, curious as to the standing of their club.

Unlearning her temper? Ava felt uncomfortable with that. She wanted to be able to control it, but...it also made Ava who she was. So, she didn't want to get completely rid of it.
But she didn't say that and just nodded. Ava didn't want to start debating her identity issues with Kalvin. The heat was dying down now too. Ava's temper was good in the sense that it usually cooled as quickly as it heated.

Ava chuckled at Kalvin's question and reached up to pull her wild curls free, slipping the crunchie on her wrist.
"Actually, I asked one of the nurses to be our advisor, one that also teaches. Don't you think that's handy? And the sparring club is, like, still a baby. Our reputation isn't here or there yet. But let's try to make it go up."
Ava grinned.
"But they stopped asking for reasons for my injuries long before I founded the club. They just assume they're from my self-training, and they're usually right. And if anyone's with me , well, they just assume we sparred."

Kalvin hummed. "That's pretty convenient," he said. He gently touched the tip of his nose and winced. Yeah, he was definitely going to get a bruise on his face tomorrow. He might plan to take sick leave tomorrow to make sure his boss doesn't see his beaten up face again. "How do you plan to get our reputation up? I can't imagine that a lot of other students here want to get into fights-—" he grinned at her then, an idea popping in his head. "Hey! What if we promote it as a self-defense class. Isn't that technically what we're doing anyway?"

"There already is a self-defense club, dumbass."
Ava said and lightly slapped the back of Kalvin's head, probably one of the few places where the guy wasn't hurt. Her tone was light, Ava didn't really mean a lot of the insults she said. Thing only people close to her knew. Hopefully Kalvin would get it soon too.
"Besides, it's all different! We're about self-improvement and supporting each other through training and stuff. We're not gonna teach you how to stomp on a molester's foot and make a run for it, we would teach you how to beat the fuck out of the molester and then ask the molester what we could've done better to beat them up even more thoroughly."

"Really? You mean the school knows that we're beating each other up for the purposes of learning how to improve at beating each other up?" Kalvin asked, looking at Ava. He ignored the insult thrown at him, sensing that it wasn't serious. Plus, he was used to this way of talking from the fight club, the one that's underground. He laughed at Ava's chosen example that summarized what they did.

"Well, if that's the case, I'm sold," he said. He might've been right to give the club a try. Initially, he only planned to see what they did. He had seen on the first day that most of the other members were females and immediately felt a little out of place. He didn't want to be seen as a guy who enjoyed beating girls up, though he has no doubts that they could probably do worse to him. The thing that really sold him was knowing that they weren't hiding the fact that they were kicking asses. This was better than participating in illegal fights. Plus, he'll get some constructive criticism about his fighting style out of it. That wasn't something you typically got when you entered the cage.
