It was a sunny afternoon on a weekend. Perfect time to go shopping. Though this time would be different for a certain little sheep girl named Ai. She was wearing a golden wool turtle neck, despite the warm weather, along with a knee length skirt over polkadot tights, with white sneakers. In one of her hands she held a dull white purse while she looked around her for her friend Wei.

Being the nervous one Ai had a hand up to her mouth making it look like she was about to eat her own knuckles. Being mostly shy as well Ai was blushing just standing out in the open in full view of the crowds. "Ooooh, where are you Wei? I don't like being the center of attention..." She whispered to herself. Though she had nothing to worry about. She had trained with Aedan when he was still doing his 'Knight Shade' vigilante act and Ai could probably take down trained supernatural club bouncers if she wanted to. But deep down she was still the young shy sheep girl who didn't like attention, and she was just standing there. Ai couldn't even remember why she had agreed to go shopping with Wei in the first place. But here she was...

Wei couldn't help himself. He'd run off, looking at everything in the windows that he might be able to afford. He'd gotten his salary from being a courier, so he could finally but something nice! Immediately, Wei gravitated towards a pretty skirt with a petticoat, but he reasoned that he would never be able to wear it because of the fur on his legs. He'd overheat too easily.

He glanced over and saw a few boy clothes in the window, and looked down at his clothes, a loose cardigan pulled over his normal school uniform (the girl's version, like always) because he didn't have anything else he really wanted to wear.

That was the problem.

His old clothes just made him feel so....

Unsettled.

Though, it was a good thing he looked in that direction, because he noticed a cute little sheep girl standing there waiting and fidgeting. He ran over. "Aiiiii!"

Ai thought if anything if Wei didn't show up soon she could just start, but then Wei might feel bad that she started without him. So she stood there waiting, that was until Wei popped up near her and it made her jump and move her and from her mouth to her chest. "OH! Wei, geez. Sorry I didn't see you there." Blinking and trying to breath calmly Ai brought her heart beat back to something resembling normal.

But once she was back to normal Ai gave Wei a warm friendly smile. "So what do you need to buy? I've got to get some more cloths." Ai nervously moved her hands over her purse a bit more. Though she was now with her friend she was still a bit worried about 'predators' in the large crowds of the mall.

"Well, I need a new wardrobe just in general, you know?" He said with a big smile on his face. "I can't really keep wearing the same clothes in every season, can I?"

He took Ai's hand and skipped over to the shop that had the skirt he'd seen with the pretty pastel petticoat, and he bounced in place imagining being able to wear it. His heart yearned for it, even though he knew it would be expensive. "I want this soooo bad, but I dont know if it's worth it. Would it even look nice on me?"

Wei could see his reflection in the glass, the slightly hunched stature and simian facial structure, his arms covered in fur that had finally begun taking on the golden color that his species was known for, and suddenly felt something... akin to shame.

"Actually, nevermind. Is there anything you wanted?"

Ai just kind of blushed at him saying that he couldn't simply wear the same sort of outfits with the changing seasons. Ai did that all the time. Her turtleneck, with skirt or pants, plus her shoes. But she could understand that Wei would want something more.

Her friend took ahold of her hand and she nearly had to start bounding between steps to keep up in the sudden change in velocity. But they stopped shortly after in front of a store with a rather nice dress in the front window. "I-it's pretty..." She said as she tried to come up with things to say about it, but her friends mood shifted from excited to... melancholy? She thought might be the word she was looking for but it didn't seem to fit right. Though she thought it might have been something she might have said to change Wei's mood she thought quick on her feet. "But ummm.... I think it might look better on you!"

It was now her turn to grab her friends hand and pull them along as she entered the store. Going up to one of the clerks there Ai smashed through her social anxiety to help her friend. "My friend was wondering if they could try on that dress in the window. Is that okay?"

It was stupid to think that anything could make him pretty, with his wide flat nose and furry body, his hunched body and long arms and probably would look better on a horror monster from a game. It made his heart hurt, this realization, not because he worried that no one would love him (because let's face it: Wei had never really had a romantic inclination in his life one way or the other) but because it meant that his ideal image would never come to fruition.

He knew his father looked different. He was a monkey with a straight back and arms in proportion to his body. He knew that eventually he would look like that: over the last two years his legs have been getting longer, and his posture has become straighter. Although it wasn't tall, by the time he was in his 20s he'd be 5'5".

But looking at himself now; as a gangly, gross monkey creature...

Ai pulled him from his thoughts and dragged him into the store.

"W-wait, you don't have to--"

"Oh, she wants to try it on? Sure, no problem. What size, dear?"

Wei stuttered. "Uhm.... a 3, please..."

The lady took a skirt from the hangar, holding it out to Wei. "Dressing room is over there."

Ai giggled a little bit to herself when the woman assumed that Wei was female. But she guessed that not many people had someone like Wei in the family. "Go try it on, I'll be here looking around."

Giving Wei a gentle nudge in the direction of the changing rooms. She waited until her friend moved away before Ai turned to look at the rest of the shop and blushed a little as she moved through it by herself. She had just removed her own 'protection' from the crowd. So Ai had moved to a secluded corner and tried to blend in with her surroundings.

Wei stood in the dressing room shaking as he gripped the skirt in his hands. He'd never actually done this, never in a million years gone out and actually bought a dress or skirt of his own volition. He'd always just... allowed himself to have these feelings. At school, he just had to check a box. Rationalize to himself that it would be most comfortable to wear a skirt because of his furry legs. But this? He couldn't rationalize this.

The petticoat meant that it would be so ungodly hot wearing this skirt that it would probably be better to just wear pants like normal.

Still, he unzipped his skirt and slid int the petticoat. It fit nicely around his waist, and it fanned out so prettily around him, especially when he straightened up as much as he could. It made him happy.

His heart was set on this now.

Wei opened the door to the dressing room. "Uh... Ai?" He called. "Can you come over here? I want your opinion on this...."

Ai was examining other skirts and dresses while she waited, none of them really appealed to her as she quietly browsed through the store. But she began to hum quietly to herself as she tried to avoid notice from the people in the store that were bigger then her. While she was examining one skirt that she might think of buying but doubted it she heard Wei call from the dressing rooms.

Blushing a little at being called to the dressing room she did a quick few bounds she found her way to the door that Wei was behind and found it open. He was wearing the skirt and was looking for some reassurance probably. Looking at her friend it was kind of funny, he reminded her of her brother so it was just a little funny seeing him in the dress. "Hmmm, I think if we were to just comb your fur it would look better. But It could also be the colors, not sure they work well... but I'm not a fashion expert."

Wei stood there, shaking a little. He'd never worn skirts like this, not on purpose. But it felt good. It felt nice. He was worried though, that the friends he had would reject him for it. His eyes were flitting to and fro, from Ai to the wall behind her.

When she only mentioned that his fur needed a brushing, and maybe a skirt in a better color, he seemed to slouch more, as if all the tension dissipated from his body. "Yeah? Yeah, you're right... what color do you think would look better? M-maybe green?"
