Eve listened, interested, as the girl explained about the building. He looked at the store with new eyes, trying to picture how it had been before. Eve had a good imagination and he could picture the things she described. Sleazy looking people sitting by the tables, dirty walls and floors and dark secrets hidden under the already suspicious front. A hint of a smile flashed on Eve's face, it sounded like a place he could've wanted to sketch.
But he did like this current place more, after all.
"Good that the old one is gone then."
Eve looked at the girl, surprised look in his eyes. You could give a person a heart attack with coffee. Eve had not heard of something like that, or even thought it possible.
"That sounds unfortunate."
Eve didn't sound blaming or anything.
"But you said it was an accident. Those happen."
Eve smiled a bit, trying to make the girl feel better in case she still felt bad about what she had done.
