"How I learned to do this?" Lynn tilted his head. He tried think waaaay back to see if he could even remember learning how to shift his gender. The earliest memory he ever had of shifting genders was when he was......
Wait. He could always do this. "I..um....it came naturally? I never actually had to learn it was something that I was always able to do." That didn't feel very helpful.

Lynn straightned himself up when Henghai started talking about confidence. There was a lot of truth to Henghai's words and Lynn just nodded once he was done talking. He was losing his cool and just making himself more and more frustrated over every little thing about this. He can't shift if his mind was clouded with thoughts of messing up and doing something wrong.

"C-can we go meditate? Out here somewhere? I want to try that...."

That was definitely not very helpful. But Henghai was going to roll with it. It may not have been helpful now, but with some creative thinking, there could be ways to make it useful.

"It came naturally... hmm... Sure, let's go meditate. While we do this, I want you to think about how sex-shifting feels. You say it came naturally, but think about what natural is for you. More often than not, what people find natural can be analyzed. Like walking. We've done it for such a long time it's natural for us, but if we think about it, there's a lot that goes into walking that we can break down."

Henghai lead Lynn over to a large tree whose leaves offered a wonderful shadow for them to sit beneath. Some sunlight broke through between the leaves, but what Henghai was aiming for was that when their eyes closed, they wouldn't be bothered by light getting in their eye. It would be easier to imprint images in your head in the dark than with rainbows dancing beneath your eyelids because of the sun.

Lynn followed Henghai over to a large tree so they can sit under and of course where Lynn went a few bugs and animals followed. Lynn sat really close to Henghai since he just felt more comfortable around him. "So think about what makes sex-shifting feel natural?" Lynn glanced up at Henghai and then nodded. He sure he was able to do that.

So Lynn closed his eyes and took a few deep breathes. What made it feel natural? He guess the only way to find out was to shift so he did. Lynn paid attention as his body began to change. It felt calming and relaxing and there was also this slight warm fuzzy feeling throughout his body. This only took a few seconds for the shift to fully complete and when it did Lynn just kept her eyes closed.

"It feels warm and fuzzy. It makes me feel calm and relaxed. Just like being out here in the forest."

Henghai also had his eyes closed. He breathed slowly and deeply in the expectation that Lynn would try to match. He didn't expect (or want) perfection, just something that showed he was focusing on his body.

"Keep that feeling close to you, then, try thinking about how it feels being with the animal you want to shift with. Do you feel happy? Excited? Still calm? Visualize the animal you want to be, associate those feelings with that image, and remember your goal is to shift." Then Henghai fell silent, allowing Lynn to put his words into practice.

Lynn listened to Henghai words as she continued to meditate. She needed to just keep focusing on that feeling and think of an animal and how that animal makes her feel. Well the first animal to come to mind was a squirrel except Lynn wasn't too sure about how the shrinking down part works. She just sat there for....awhile?

"I don't think it's working Mr. Henghai...." Lynn sighed, she didn't expect to get it on the first try but she reaaaally wanted to. She wanted to impress Henghai but alas; she will have to try again.
"Do you think if I try to shift one part of my body at a time it would work?"

That actually sounded like a good idea to Lynn but she wasn't sure if it could work. "Oh! I can try shifting like how you do! Um the...the" What was the word again? Lynn wasn't too sure on the correct term they were using. "Taur...shift...thingy? That's like partial shifting right?"

Henghai's usual calm and collection smile turned supportive and proud. Part of it was forced to encourage Lynn—who now looked more feminine when he opened his eyes for a moment—and part of it was because he was genuinely happy to have another person to meditate with. Often he was accompanied only by his son and Anrong.

"Give it a try. Some people find partial shifting much easier than complete shifting. And yes, taur-shifting is like partial shifting. Do you plan on shifting your lower half? Any animal ideas?"

"Yeah! I'll try to shift my lower half and see if that works. Then try to shift the rest!" Lynn nodded enthusiastically and then started the whole medititating process all over again.
"Oh um...a horse? Maybe?" That was probably a good start. Lynn seen centaurs and stuff before so it was easier for her to imagine, well she thought it would be easier.

She closed her eyes and began to focus. Lynn let herself relax as she listened to the peaceful sounds of nature and visualized her lower half changing. She tried to focus on what she felt and the fuzzy warm feeling that was just spreading throughout her body. Lynn didn't give up so easily; she could at least feel something unlike when she tried to shift into the squirrel.

Henghai wondered if a horse was too big a change. That would certainly add plenty of height, weight, and strength to Lynn. But Henghai wasn't one to tell someone they couldn't do something. As long as it wasn't harmful, it should be fine. Should be.

So Henghai agreed, went quiet, and watched. Yes, once in a while he would open his eyes and glance at Lynn, which was easy to hide when their eyes always looked closed. After all, if something happened, bad or good, he couldn't miss out on it.

Lynn's lower body slowly began to glow? Well Lynn wasn't really aware of the glowing since their eyes was closed and was way more focused on imaging themselves as a centaur. The only thing they really noticed was the warm fuzzy feeling at that was pretty much it at the moment. The glow also wasn't a very bright glow and was sorta dim like a weird broken light bulb trying to turn on despite its faulty wiring.

"I'm not sure if it's working? I just feel warm and fuzzy..."

"Hold onto that feeling," Henghai told Lynn. That fuzzy feeling may have meant nothing... or may have meant Lynn was getting somewhere with her shifting. Henghai was going to bet on the latter. After peeking, he could see that Lynn was now glowing. The impulsive side of Henghai told him to tell Lynn for encouragement, but what if that encouragement made Lynn too excited? So excited she lost control of her shifting and failed to see her progress.

No, right now, Henghai wanted to watch and see. No point in meditating now. He had a milestone to witness as Tree Dad.
