"U-Uhm.. They're okay.."

Mary hadn't had a lot of interactions with humans lately, but the cashiers at the store were always sweet. Their smiles seemed sincere. She felt like he was sizing her up and it made her extremely uncomfortable.

"I.. uhm.. One?" She finished, hoping that the number would satisfy him. She couldn't even remember his name. Did he tell it to her? Did he not? If she was attacked could she remember how he looked to report him? Would she make it to report him? What if these were the last moments of her life???

"Well I recommend you stop. Don't wanna choose the wrong side in the war in my head. Especially when it turns to reality. Because it will turn to reality, very soon." James spoke prophetically, as if he was certain. He would wage war on his own if he had to.

"So Mary, if war were to break out, theoretically, which side would you join? Gifted? Or Humans?" James leaned against the wall, putting his hands in his pockets.

Stop? Stop not worrying about people who didn't care about her? Was.. was this guy trying to start trouble?!

"The... war?" She dared a question. This guy was a nut. Crazy. Completely crazy. War? There wasn't going to be a war. Or any fighting. The Headmistress would see to that.

"Uhm... I wouldn't join a side, u-unless I had to..." Of course she wouldn't. It would be easy enough to hide from the fighting. But what if there were more crazies like this guy, ones who could see her no mater what? It was a scary thought.
