<div align=center>Tiffany smiled a little, this girl was alright, at least she wasn't cooing over how awful it must be not to hear, how awful it must be not to be able to listen to music and listen to birds singing. She was alright how she was, it could have been worse, she perhaps would have struggled without Quinn, or without her powers. She wondered if it would be acceptable in this situation, she couldn't exactly ask Lucy if she could. Tiffany was more or less mute, speaking was for emergencies or for very close friends, and still even her very close friends rarely heard her spoke, not that she had any here. Quinn was currently, the only thing she ever used her voice on, if he didn't listen to her in his mind, then she'd resort to talking, but Quinn was a good dog, he seldom disobeyed her, or ignored her. The dog spun around, away from Tiff and back to the stick, he bounded to Lucy, moving to play bow and dropping the piece of wood at her feet. He wanted to play again, he wanted to run around. Quinn really would have liked to chase rabbits, but he'd not been taken anywhere where that was possible. He wasn't going to kill them, just frighten them a little...

Tiffany frowned to herself, she had no idea how to get around this situation. The girl so desperately wanted to talk to her, and she felt a little bad about it. Tiff didn't really know why anyone would want to talk to her, if she thought about it, she was very quiet as it was, she didn't think she was very interesting. She supposed if she reached out and the girl shrunk away and panicked, that wasn't her fault, there wasn't really another way to communicate. She refused point blank to use her voice, she wasn't going to risk making herself sound stupid and embarrassing herself, Tiffany had her pride at least, she didn't like making a fool of herself, and that was exactly what talking would do. Tiff didn't remember how to form words very well, so when she did speak, her words sounded strange and she often mispronounced things, people usually laughed at her for that and it made her angry.

She sighed, a single, snowy white eyebrow cocking up. Her mind reached out until it found that of the other girl's, it was an odd feeling to those that had never been spoken to this way before. Tiffany. She told her, my name is Tiffany. Though, her mind was still blocked off, she could transfer thoughts to Lucy, but had made it so she could not listen to whatever she was thinking about, that would have been an invasion of the girl's privacy, and she didn't want to do that, it was rude.</div>

"Tiffany, that is a pretty name." She smiled a bit, trying to get used to the power that this girl had. She looked down at the dog, then the stick at her feet. "Cute, do you want me to toss it?" She bent down and picked up the stick, and threw it as far as she could behind Tiffany. "There." She looked back at Tiffany. "I am guessing that you are new here, or somewhat new." She half smiled. "It is okay if you want to look threw my mind or whatever, if you want." She didn't care really, if she had that power, she would think at it was interesting and she would probably snoop around. Maybe that wasn't Tiffany though, maybe she didn't like her power, or wanted to be kind and nice to people, to not invade on them.

<div align=center>The last thing Tiffany ever wanted to do was go through someone's thoughts, that would invade their innermost privacy, and that wasn't something she wanted to do. She'd be able to unearth more or less everything, she was well practiced in this power and could use it incredibly well. It had taken up a lot of her time practicing, though, she'd spent years and years trying to perfect it, trying to make it so she could block out other peoples thoughts when she needed to, and let them in when she needed to. It had taken a long time, but it had been worth it, she liked her power, it made her life much easier than it could be, though she didn't take pity on others with her condition, she always thought it could be worse, and besides, many deaf people lived a perfectly good life, she was one of them, she thought her life was fine, she didn't want to change it. She supposed it would have been nice to hear, though, she missed sounds, she missed being able to hear peoples voices, she missed being able to hear the wind in the trees and the dawn chorus. The girl sighed, and smiled ever so slightly. I'm not going to do that. She told her, I don't want to. She couldn't care less about Lucy's thoughts, nor what had happened in her past, people were the same to her regardless of where they had come from, and if a persons upbringing were to make someone else dislike them, they were a bad person. It was good to be open minded, Tiffany's disinterest in people made her come across as accepting, to some extent she was, peoples differences really didn't bother her one bit.

Quinn barked when the stick was thrown, turning suddenly, and sprinting after it. He was fast when he wanted to be, he was a large dog and could cover ground quickly and easily, he was clumsy though and tended to knock things over an awful lot, he shouldn't really have been classed as an inside dog, where would Tiffany leave him, though? She couldn't just leave him out in the cold, he wouldn't like that and besides he'd get lonely. Back at home he had lived in the garden for most of the time, Tiffany had used to sneak him up to her bedroom, her mother had never been very happy when she found Tiffany curled up asleep, the large scruffy mess that was Quinn curled up next to her. He took up a lot of room at night, he still slept with her in her dorm, curled up at one end of her bed, or sometimes on the rug next to it, either was comfortable, though he favored the bed by a long shot.

That is a pretty name. Tiffany blushed a little and a small, very quiet giggle escaped her. Thank you. She returned, tucking a strand of snowy white hair behind her ear, and glancing over to see what Quinn was doing, he'd since grabbed the stick in his jaws, and was running around with it clasped between them, she wished he had a ball, sticks weren't good for dogs. I like your name, too. She told Lucy, nodding a little. This girl was friendly enough, she didn't had a malicious presence about her, it made Tiff feel relaxed, she liked it. Most people didn't realize Tiffany was deaf as quickly as she had, and merely perceived her as rude, or unfriendly. She was neither of those things, of course, she was a nice girl, she just couldn't hear you.</div>

Lucy liked this girl, she was different, nicer and more, open about things. She smiled a her a bit, then shuffling her feet to the left. She loked behind her to see Quinn still playing with the stick. She thought that Tiffany was lucky to have a dog, Lucy had always wanted one. She sighed a bit and redid her hair, then looked around. "It is beautiful out today, for winter at least." Winter for her was ever pretty. Wetness everywhere and people that were overly happy. It made her sick, though she might feelt eh same if she made some friends. Somewhere inside her, she was a bit excited for the holidays, even though they weren't really her thing.

"Thank you." It was rare for someone to compliment her because she was usually not the easiest person to get along with. She usually liked to be annoying and rude, she thrived in it. Putting others down or just being defensive is what she liked to do, even if it brought bad concequences. "Do you go outside a lot? I mean do you enjoy it?" She had no idea what else to talk about.

<div align=center>Tiffany would rather have liked to take that stick away from Quinn, she'd go out and buy him a ball later, one he couldn't destroy, or swallow at that. She whistled and the animal came bounding back to her, he'd left the stick behind him, pink tongue lolling out of his shaggy grey maw. He barked at Lucy and wagged his tail, he liked this girl, she was nice, she wanted to play with him, if there were two things Quinn loved it was playing and sleeping, he also rather liked eating, but his mistress never gave him tidbits, it'd make him fat, and he'd be even heavier if he got fat. Besides, it wasn't good for him. Quinn paced back to Tiffany and sat himself next to her, maybe she'd sleep at night tonight for once, he wondered why she was awake at the moment, it was unlike her. The girl's hand drifted to his head and scratched his ears idly, he tilted his head to meet her hand, his tail thudding against the grass as he wagged it. I like the winter. Tiffany told the girl, her skin didn't burn as easily in winter, at least not when it was cloudy, when the sun was out and when it snowed, she burned rather easily, and it hurt.

Tiffany shook her head, she didn't really go outside all that much, not during the day anyhow. I get sun burn. She told her, it was annoying to have to apply huge amounts of sun block every morning, not to mention having to constantly reapply it throughout the day, it was much easier to stay inside all day, there was more to do inside anyway, Tiffany could read or bake or sleep, then again, the outside was much prettier than the inside, and there was always so much going on when Tiffany decided to venture out during the day. I usually only go outside at night. There weren't so many people around at night, Tiffany liked it better that way.

There is no sun at night. She continued, nodding to herself. She smiled at Lucy, she wondered why the girl had come all the way out here, Tiff was only here because it was a big space where Quinn could run around, water and little furry animal both absent. Maybe Lucy liked sport? Tiffany hated sport, she couldn't think of anything more unpleasant than running around in a muddy field kicking a ball around, or hitting one with a wooden stick, where was the fun in that? Where was the point in that? It just made you dirty and out of breath. Or perhaps she had just been walking, that happened to her sometimes, she'd just walk and end up in a strange place she had never seen before. She could usually find her way back easily, though, Quinn had an incredible nose, even if he did get distracted by whatever other smells were hanging around in the air as well.</div>

The winter, the snow, the cold. Those were things that Lucy didn't really like, but she had got to know very well. It is natural, it happens, it gets cold, snow falls. She liked though, a bit warmer seasons. She looked down at the dog, she was happy that it wasn't biting or barking at her. That was one thing that got on her nerves, loud sounds, repetitive things. She did a single laugh, then looked up at the girl. "The cold can be good." She said vaguely.

Sun burn? Wow. That was something that she had not had in a long time. She remembered it though, as if all of your skin tensed up and it hurt to move it. It was very easy to get for some people, but not for Lucy. Having a natural tan tone to her skin really helped that factor. She never even put on sun screen, she only used lotion, but as she thought for a moment, she forgot why.

"That must suck. That is a good reason to stay indoors. I never had that problem." She paused and smiled a bit. No sun at night, that was a weird statement. Lucy knew that there was not a sun at night, but a moon. She liked the night better though. It was relaxing for her, where she could block out the other things that annoyed or bothered her. "For me, the night is a lot better."
