It was a chilly day, not that the cold bothered Emmett any. At least it wasn't too overcast. It was around noon, and he had suggested that he and his partner meet at the park. A public place in the middle of the day, for both their sake. Some people stared at Emmett and his ridiculous height, something he found odd given the number of strange looking beings on the island. Though, it could also be the way he stood stock still in the middle of the path, almost like a statue. Holding the present he had made, waiting for the recipient to arrive.
The packaging was humble, and like most of the things that Emmett gave to people, hand made. Even the wrapping paper and bow had been made himself, painted with snowflakes and other Christmas-y images before being wrapped around the also homemade gift. He really hoped that this Sabriel person liked their gift. He honestly wasn't sure what to do if they didn't.

The agreed upon time was around noon, which meant Sabriel had to begin preparing himself around nine in the morning for the exchange.

It didn't take him three hours to shower and get dressed, but it did take him three hours to build himself up for a social outing, especially when the social outing was with someone who he had never met before.

He oscillated between feeling certain and absolute, crippling doubt. His gift was handmade, and the effort invested in it was abundantly clear, but that did not guarantee that it would be liked.

Around 11:30, Sabriel picked up the gift, and exited his apartment. The gift was thin and rectangular, covered in brown paper upon which Sabriel had drawn a cartoonish winter meadow in black ink. Under the brown wrapping, it was boxed in cardboard, and long enough that Sabriel needed to carry it with modest discomfort.

When he reached the park, he looked for Emmett, who Sabriel know would be absurdly tall. When he spotted a person who matched that description, he walked toward him.

"Emmett?" he asked. "I'm Sabriel." And he would have offered a hand, but he was holding the frame awkwardly with both; it was too wide to rest on his hip. He set the gift down gently, and leaned it against his leg, so he could extend a hand toward his Secret Santa partner.

Emmett took the offered hand and gave it a firm handshake. He couldn't feel the other man's hand, but he could feel his own clay. Knew how much pressure he was squeezing with. It had taken a long time to figure out how to translate that to objects, so he didn't accidentally break someone's arm or what have you.
But he had figured it out, and it was a fact of life now that he barely registered.

He gave a tight smile, what he assumed was the appropriate response to a meeting like this. His eyes cut over to his gift, a large thin rectangular package. Much larger than his own gift. He briefly wondered if his was too small. Was there an expected size for the gifts that he hadn't read? No, he had gone thoroughly through the event particulars.

"Ah," he said, nearly forgetting himself in his overthinking. "Pologlies. Yeah, I'm Emmett. Emmett Orenstein. Nice ta meet y'all, Sabriel."
The giant of a man paused somewhat awkwardly. Were they supposed to just exchange gifts? Do small talk? He was garbage at small talk. And the gifts themselves. Did they open the here? Or did they take them home, so no one's feelings got hurt if it weren't something the other liked?
