"Well.....," he'd sigh, going quiet for a moment. "The thing I told you about? The thing that keeps hurting me?" he'd shift in place a bit, leaning on her a little. "Well.....they've been doing it again," he said they not it, confirming it was a person.

He'd wrap his arms around her, taking a very shaky breath. "So I just...yeah....wanted to get away from all that for a while," home had never been a good place for him, even now when they were on a magic island.

"Guess the island moving kind of.....mad tensions rise some."

Lycia scrunched up her face in distress. "No! No one should be hurting you Zeke." At which point she held him tighter to her. Not that she could do it too much more than she already was.

"You can... hmm... you can come stay with me! It can be a secret and you will be safe for all of the time," she exclaimed abruptly. And with a degree of naivete that made it clear she hadnt thought about any potential consequences for that.

He'd chuckle a tiny bit. "While staying with you does sound nice....we both know that wouldn't work," he'd hum in thought. "The school would find out and I don't think they'd approve of me living secretly with you hon."

Zeke would hug her. "I have been....sorta considering getting a dorm though," he'd say, "maybe it'd help get me away from it all?" He wasn't sure if he'd do it, a part of him wanted to but he was uncertain.

He enjoyed her holding him, th hem holding each other. "Thank you though," he'd say, "you caring, it means a lot to me."

Lycia sighed. He was possibly right. "But you could tell them it was for your safety. I am fighting away the people who want to hurt you."

If her arms hadnt been currently occupied she would have pretended to take a fighter's pose. Whatever that meant in her slightly addled mind. But instead she smiled at him. "Ok, you can maybe get a dorm too. They are good and comfy and fun."

To the last part though she reached out and , eventually, found his lips. Pressing a finger to them to make him quiet. "You do not need to thank me. I care because I like you."

Smiling he'd gently take her hand, placing it on his cheek. "How about I cook you dinner then?" he'd ask, "maybe I can use the school kitchens? If not I can at least order us some pizzas?" He wanted to do something nice for her, providing food seemed like a good thing.

He'd go quiet a moment, thinking about his situation. "You.....you said you'd be willing to listen?....If I wanted to talk about what's going on?" There was hesitance in his voice, but he did trust her.

"I.....I haven't told anyone." No one knew, a part of him was always scared of telling anyone.

Lycia giggled. "I think the school kitchen is for the school cooks. We can get the pizza from the cafeteria or order it though." She rarely passed up a chance for eating fun foods. And the greasy cheesy finger food style of pizza was certainly fun.

She cocked her head to the side though for the latter bit. "Why would I not want to listen to you Zeke? I like to hear about your life. And I like your voice." She finished with a laugh as she playfully mushed his cheeks and lips around a bit.

He'd let out a thoughtful hum as she squished his face around. "Yeah," he'd take her hands in his and gently squeeze them. "It's just.....it's not nice things to talk about," he'd sigh, "but I...a part of me thinks it might be good to talk about it, even if it's not good stuff."

Zeke would go quiet a moment before speaking a moment. "I...I'm half nightmare, so my eyes can cause fear.....both my parents are human....because I....well...my mom had an..affair with a nightmare being...which was how I was born," he was talking slow, in a shaky voice.

He'd take a shaky breath. "The man I call the father...the one raising me...he didn't react well finding out the truth," tears were flowing from his eyes again. "So he drinks....and gets angry at me...a lot."

Lycia held onto Zeke's hands as he spoke... and then wiggle scooted up to push him over onto the bed. A soft bed always helped her when she was upset at home.

"Why does your mom not tell him he is being bad? If I had a baby I would not let anyone hurt them. Even if I made a mistake with someone else one time." She curled up against him to encourage him to keep going. "I am sorry. I should not try to blame anyone. So when he gets angry and drinky what does he do?" She was genuinely concerned and wanted him to be able to say whatever he wanted. If they had been in the Dream she would have kissed him.

Zeke would allow himself be pushed onto the bed, taking a shaky breath as he tried to stead himself. "I...I guess because then he's not angry at her," he knew she had boyfriends, and often spent nights with them, especially when things got rough.

He'd look at her, going quiet, trying to think of what to say. "He......," he'd take another very shake breath. "Sometimes he just screams....sometimes takes my charm," he'd try to wipe away his tears, but they just kept coming.

"Sometimes he....sometimes he hits me," he'd finally say, finally admitting to what was going on.

Lycia was confused. She really didnt understand what was going on with Zeke's family. So she did her best to equate it with how her own functioned. "If my dad was doing that to me I would go hide in my room. It makes me very sad to hear about you being hurt Zeke. But I want you to tell me so you can cry and hold me and feel better after. Mayne for you I can be like the stuffing Natau I had when I was little. But a not stuffing Lycia- a real one. And I can hug back."

She squeezed him and pressed herself against him and smiled. Smiled because she wanted to think about the happy Zeke he would be after sharing with her and not the sad hurting Zeke.

"You can hide in my room any time you want Zeke. I am a good... I can keep some secrets." She corrected herself with a giggle. "I will hide you under my blanket."
