It was another two hours before Cairo finally woke up, gently squeezing his hand before her eyes opened. Her grip was weak, but the way she clung so possessively was enough to tell him not to move it away. A slight smile on her lips, Cairo looked up at Iaemor from the pillow.

"You let go."

She wasn't accusing him of anything. Her voice didn't sound angry, or even the slightest bit sad. Just weak, and uneven.

"They made you let go?"

Cairo took a moment to look up and down at Iaemor, judging. Obviously she wasn't pleased.

"You're too far away."

She shifted to the side, just enough to give him room to lie down next to her. She stared at him, demanding that he join her with only her facial expressions.

As Cairo squeezed his hand as she awoke, Iaemor ripped his gaze from the beeping machine to look down at her face as she opened her eyes. "I..." Iaemor trailed off as he tried to reply to her words about letting go. He hadn't wanted to but he couldn't have held her the entire time she was getting medical aid. Even so he felt as if he had dissappointed her. "I am here." He finally managed to say as she made room for him on the bed. Kicking his boots off and climbing up beside her gently.

"And I am not going to go anywhere." He added once he laid down next to her. He knew that he would likely be kicked out eventually. However when that time came he intended to prolong that time for as long as he could. Even if it ment bribing members of the staff in order to do it, or imploring to their sense of empathy.

The day had been an insane rollercoster of event, with Cairo health shifting up and down. He couldn't bare the thought that he had dragged her from the frozen forest, only to have her die later. He was just glad that she was okay now. Well okay was a relative term in this case. She wasn't collasping in his arms, or almost freezing to death so it was an improvement.

"I am here."

He was. Iaemor was right there, beside her on the bed. He was here, right here, and had been when she needed him most.

"And I am not going to go anywhere."

Cairo nuzzled into his side, tugging sensors off her body to make it easier to get closer. To press right up against him and hold him close, soak up his warmth and breath in his scent, mostly pinewood now that the sweat had dried. She knew this was a bad idea. Letting anyone get close to her. It wouldn't end well if it ran its course. The curse always won. As soon as she got out... As soon as she was on her own agian, she was breaking it off. She had to. For him.

Iaemor had proven the lengths he was willing to go through to stay and the thought of having to shove him away agian hurt, it was a necessity. One that could wait until the end of the hospital stay.

Iaemor wrapped his arm around Cairo as she pulled free of some of the medical equipment in order to curl up against him. He was feeling slightly conflicted. While he was content in the fact, that she was showing some level of affection and not trying to push him away. He couldn't help but feel bad for everything she had been through for the day. Nearly freezing to death, followed by a heart attack was not a pleasent sounding combination. He didn't feel responable, but felt like there was more he could of done even though he was sure there wasn't.

For now he was simply planning to enjoy the moment, and stay with her as long as possible as she recovered. "If you need anything just ask." He told her, stroking her hair just like he had earlier that day as she was recovering from the cold. Trying to be comforting, even if he wasn't sure what to do.

It had been a long time since he last had to look after another. Well apart from his sister, who for the most part could easily handle herself. He wasn't even sure how many years it had been sonce he had put so much effort in persuing someone. However he was glad he had done so. Wondering if he hadn't would she have really not called for aid while she was freezing. He still wasn't sure how the paramedics had found her at his home, and why they hadn't been looking in the woods for her if they could find her when in danger.

"I need you to just. Put up with my bullshit. All of it. I'm probably not done pushing you away, or blocking your number. This curse will find a way to kill you if you stay. And if it doesn't, that means I can't ever have sex with you. Birth control is never always effective and it'd be very much like my curse to find some way to make it not work to the point where it results in a baby. Having a baby would kill me, and pass the curse onto them. It... It's not a good idea for me to love anyone, ever. B-but I want to ignore that right now..."

Cairo's voice trailed off as she burrowed into Iaemor's chest, rubbing her cheek against him like a cat rubbing their scent on their owners. It was a complete change from her trying to push him away, now desperately clinging to make sure no one could send him away when they returned to fix the moniters that weren't getting any information now.

And come they did, only a few minutes later, replacing the sensors on her body so they'd stay, but they wouldn't interfere with her clinging. Iaemor was given very strict instructions to not let her remove them agian, but Cairo was much to occupied nuzzling into his chest to care about them anymore.

Iaemor closed his eyes and simply listened to Cairo thinking about what she was saying. He couldn't help but admit that her saying they couldn't be physically intimate was slightly disappointing. However if it put her at risk, it was something he could live with. A relationship not built on the physical was not the most common occurance for him, but that didn't mean it would be bad.

Opening his eyes once more before he ciuld anwser her. The doctors, or nurse he wasn't sure how to tell the difference. Came into the room in order to reattach the medical devices to her. Iaemor held her as best he could, while they worked glad that they didn't get in the way of the embrace, and waited until they had left. Tilting his head down, he kissed the top of her head, before leaning back and sighing.

"I would not be here if I was not willing to put up with it, or take the risk of what staying with you brings." He said returning to stroking her hair as she snuggled into him. "I will have to lay with others, but they rarely anything beyond a means to feed and live." He told her, he had implied it before but he figured being open about it for the sake of honesty was a good idea. "But I will be beside you whenever you want me to be." He added trying to make it clear that she was special in his eye.

Cairo clung tighter to the life line that was Iaemor, pressing as close to him as she could. The gentle pressure of his lips on the top of her head, the strong warmth of his arms around her, that was all she needed to know that she was alive. Really, truly, alive. And she was loved. Someone, a real person, loved her and wanted to take care of her. Someone who barely knew a thing about her, and had no obligation to help.

It started slowly at first. The occasional tear she could blink away. And then she sniffled, pulling away so that she wouldn't get snot all over his shirt. Tissues were just barely within arm's reach. The tears came more often, until it turned into full blown sobbing, complete with choking on a lump in her thoat. I am loved.

It hurt, now that she knew the full extent. Iaemor was really trying but she knew this couldn't happen. Couldn't be real. Couldn't last outside the hospital. He didn't seem to understand and his loyalty stung.

"Sleep with everyone if you have to."

Iaemor was slightly confused, by the dichotomy of actions and words coming from Cairo. The fact she clung to him tighter had not been missed, but at the same time she started to cry and Iaemor expected that his nature and the fact he couldn't be completely loyal was the cause, at least with the word she managed to get out as she was crying.

Iaemor tried to sooth her, returning to stroking her hair and making small shush like sound to hopefully calm her sobs. "It's okay, we can talk more about it later." He told her, not sure how that conversation would go. "But you should rest. I'll still be here." He told her, not understanding it was his willingness to care, that was to blame for her tears.

(OOC: sorry for the delay, shall consider calling this thread to an end? Also gonna make like a one short thread, for Iaemor delivering Vday gift as RL stress delayed me from doing from the PM thing.)
