It was another two hours before Cairo finally woke up, gently squeezing his hand before her eyes opened. Her grip was weak, but the way she clung so possessively was enough to tell him not to move it away. A slight smile on her lips, Cairo looked up at Iaemor from the pillow.
"You let go."
She wasn't accusing him of anything. Her voice didn't sound angry, or even the slightest bit sad. Just weak, and uneven.
"They made you let go?"
Cairo took a moment to look up and down at Iaemor, judging. Obviously she wasn't pleased.
"You're too far away."
She shifted to the side, just enough to give him room to lie down next to her. She stared at him, demanding that he join her with only her facial expressions.
"You let go."
