Yuki sighed as he stared out at the sea, somewhat enjoying the view of the ocean from the relaxation room. It was...soothing. The sound of water was relaxing, and the light snow falling cheered him up a little. His parents were out at work (as per usual...) and Ace had taken the day off. Mahalia seemed preoccupied with something, but he wouldn't pry - he'd just use the intercom if he needed anything. Saturday mornings were nice, if not a little lonely.

His phone buzzed. A message...from Ganymede? [Is it a good time for me to show up at your place? I would like to talk about something.]
[Sure!] He texted back casually.

Looking around, the house seemed tidy enough. Living room...check. Bathroom...check. Kitchen, relaxation room, cinema room... check, check and check. Yuki casually closed the door to his bedroom, though. That was a bit of a mess of books and an undone bed. Perhaps he'd ask Mahalia to clean it...

...Which was when the doorbell rang. Opening the doorbell app, he saw... Ganymede? Already?! How...
Oh. Right.
Ganymede could travel at super speed. Yuki was not dressed or prepared for this... He dashed into his room and pulled on a hasty jumper and pair of jeans, shedding his bathrobe and nightcap and rapidly combing his hair. (It was still a bedhead, but less bad.)
"Come in!" He spoke into the microphone, and held the gate release button before rushing down the stairs into the entryway. Hopefully Ganymede wouldn't feel too out of place in such an estate. The garden alone looked a little fancy already...

Ganymede found the article posted to their foster family's back door overnight. Since then, he'd read the entire thing, spent a while thinking about it, and then read it and thought about it again. He was thankful that he was the first one to see it in the house; he didn't fully understand the political implications of what he was reading. Ganymede understood what a coup was, though. He knew that this was a sensitive matter.

He needed to discuss this with Yuki. So, shortly after Yuki said he could stop by, Ganymede was standing outside his home. Even in a relatively casual winter jacket and jeans, he looked sharp, poised, formal. His pant legs even had a center crease from when he ironed them, and his sneakers shined as though they had been polished (they had been).

He bowed politely and greeted Yuki in Japanese as though he were Ganymede's superior. That felt right, given the circumstances. Once inside, he would remove his shoes at the door, look around, and ask softly: "Do you think anyone would overhear us talking here?"

Yuki found himself sighing internally as he greeted Ganymede at the gate. The boy always looked good no matter what he wore, and he seemed to wear it with ease. If only Yuki had the confidence to pull that off himself... although he supposed he might be able to. He was safer here. People wouldn't kidnap him. People wouldn't kill him. He'd be more or less fine from bullying, too... but that was beside the point. Today wasn't about him. (Or so he thought.)

"Ah... good morning." He responded back in Japanese, using the casual speech style. He wondered why his friend was so formal today...
Offering Ganymede a pair of house slippers and putting his own back on in place of his shoes, he paused.
What?

"No... I don't think anyone would. Except maybe Mahalia, who's in her room. If you want, we can speak a different language. How about French?" He replied, a little confused. What exactly was going on?

Ganymede slipped effortlessly into speaking French, just as Yuki suggested. "French is a good idea... I have to show you something, Yuki. It was pinned to the outside of my door last night."

He then took a moment to retrieve some things that he had been holding under his jacket: a note, and a torn out article describing Yuki's alleged plans for a coup and rift with his family. The note read, 'this is who your friend really is.'

Ganymede gave Yuki enough time to read the headline and the note before continuing. "If the person who left this for me meant to create a rift between us, they failed. You are among my best friends, and my loyalty to you is unshaken. I have come to offer my aid for whatever you may be planning."

Yuki led Ganymede to the downstairs living room, about to close the door behind the two when he blinked. What? What was Gany saying? He took the note and article title and gasped.

"Scandal! Snow White and the Seven Sins as Yuki Hayashi plans a coup for the family business?! Family bonds severed for life?!"

"No... no. No no no no no no no no. This can't be happening. This can't be happening..." He uttered, completely forgetting all languages except his mother tongue. Anyone listening in would probably think this was an anime, considering he was muttering in scared Japanese. "No, that's not me. That's not what's going on. Ganymede, you have to believe me - I...I thank you for the offer but this is nothing but lies! If this... if this gets out properly the board will go into chaos. People might lose trust in my parents if they buy into it. We have to stop this!"

Ganymede stared for a moment, incredulous. He supposed it wasn't too big a deal Yuki wasn't sticking to French. He slipped back into Japanese.

"So the story isn't even true..." he muttered. "In that case... do you know who could be trying to do this to you? Who do you think would benefit from the board going into chaos?"

This was going to be a very different kind of situation than Ganymede had been planning for. He was almost a little disappointed that he couldn't help with a coup. But still, he had been developing a certain set of skills that could prove invaluable to Yuki in dealing with this.

Yuki blinked, surprised at his own desperation. Did he really care about his parents this much? They hadn't even spent that much time with him as a child, and yet...perhaps it was the whole 'blood is thicker than water' saying. It must be true then, he supposed. Watching Ganymede a little worriedly, he muttered an almost silent apology for shouting.

"I don't know... my parents never let me get involved in company matters." He sighed, holding himself. "I always wanted to help, and yet..." He shook his head. Now was not the time for him to talk about his grudges. He had to help his family! After all, his parents had devoted their lives up to this point to grow the business... He couldn't let Takumi's work go to waste either. If his brother found out about this, he'd probably collapse from the stress...

"Maybe...maybe Eda? She's a family friend, and a fellow prominent board member. Eda Wiltshire. She holds a percentage of the shares nearly as large as my parents..." He mused aloud. "Or maybe Chabami Yuuma. He's the financial advisor to my family, but his shares in the business have been growing as of late..."

Ganymede considered this. Yuki said that they had to stop this, and Ganymede didn't question that. He and Yuki were going to find a way to stop this. He didn't have any clear idea about the two people Yuki mentioned, but there was at least one person he knew it could be useful to investigate.

He looked at the article again, finding the author's name. "Actually, maybe we should start with this person. Kalypso Thoon. We already know they're in on the plot against you. They could lead us to your betrayers, if we let them."

Gany recalled the times his master would have him sit at his side while he and his people discussed their schemes. He had been learning.

"Kalypso Thoon... that almost certainly sounds like a pseudonym, doesn't it?" He mused. "Yes, you have a good point. Let's see what we can find out about them." He said, already going to the kitchen to boil the kettle. "Perhaps we can... I don't know, you don't happen to have psychometry or something, do you?" He giggled a little, trying to make the situation a little lighter. Although if Ganymede really did have psychometry - and it wasn't out of the question - they might be able to solve this mystery rather quickly.

"I'm making tea, by the way. Did you fancy hot or warm water?" He called. A hot drink was always a good way to calm down, Yuki supposed lavender and chamomile would be a good choice for now. His priority was no longer repairing his relationship with his parents - it was finding out who had done this to tarnish the family name. It would be best if they didn't have to get his brother or parents involved, but this was big business. He couldn't afford to risk it.

"Hot water would be nice." Gany smiled. Even if he couldn't enjoy most teas, as many were varying degrees of poisonous to him, he still liked hot water. He could use magic to add some flavor to it, and he liked the steam. It was a small thing, but with so many creature comforts denied to him, he cherished the ones he could have.

But he was still thinking about this problem of theirs. "I haven't learned psychometry, but my other powers can be useful for this. The journal and the fake name could help me scry on them, and... maybe if we find out where they write these, we could use that?"

Gany wasn't sure how Yuki wanted to use that. He knew his old master would want to see this "Kalypso" suffer or die. To Gany, this would seem like a normal reaction - even though his counselor had already convinced him that was bad.
