I think Castiel needs someone normal in his life. He can get sick of hanging around all the 'freaks' (even though he's one). Naoko might be the anchor he needs to stay sane tbh.

Naoko is indeed astoundingly normal. She's also a native, so it's possible she might get drafted to help him find his way around the island?

Perhaps he gets lost, and she spots him... you know, looking lost on campus? She doesn't actually live in the dorms, but the school in general works.
