"That is probably a good idea" Zora agreed as she let go off his hand and stood a few feet back. Watching him for a moment, Zora moved forward a bit and inspected the circle, quietly reading the runes and nodding to herself.

"Are you sure this symbol here is Lagu, and not Tac?" she asked thoughtfully, they were both arrow like runes and so could easily be mistaken for each other. It was not that she thought the spell was wrong. She just wanted to make sure it was the proper symbol being used, because very different things could happen if one was used in place of the other.

Jeremiah looked over the symbols and nodded along, "Yes, I do believe so. I do need help with the inner rings of the incantation though. I cannot see them as well when they are very small."

As the two of them worked, Jeremiah founds himself humming an old German tune that his dads had sung to him as a young boy. It was comforting in a way, and all the more so with his mother here with him. But his curiosity was getting the better of him. After a bit, he asked. "What was his name again? Your partner, I mean. You didn't talk much about him to me before, not in great detail."

It was a nice distraction from everything - being able to put her full attention into the incantation circle. She hadn't done a circle as complicated as this one in years, mainly because she didn't need to anymore. She could just teleport places. Unfortunately, her magic was not strong enough to take another person with her, something she would have readily done for her son if she could.

Lost in the task at hand while absentmindedly listening to Jeremiah hum a song, Zora looked up, somewhat surprised when Jeremiah asked about Broen.

"His name was Godfrey, but everyone called him Broen," Zora replied sadly as she put down the chalk she had been using to help trace runes into the circle. "He preferred using his surname over his given name," she explained, feeling slightly ashamed now that she hadn't told her son about Broen. Especially since she had never been ashamed of him, she had just thought she had had more time perhaps.

"Do you want to know about him?" she asked with some hesitation, not even sure where to begin or how much to tell if he did.

Jeremiah thought about it, and though he didn't have any connection to this Broen fellow, he thought maybe talking about him might make his mother feel better. So he nodded, leaning on his staff and looking over at Zora with a smile. "I would love to, if you would like to talk about him."

"Alright," Zora said after a moment's hesitation as she met her son's encouraging gaze. She knew she hadn't actually shared much of her life with Jeremiah, and she was beginning to realise that now was probably a good of time as any to start.

Sitting down on a bench, Zora patted the seat beside her if Jeremiah wanted to sit beside her, then she took a moment to collect herself before she began.

"Well, to start, Broen was from Halcyon. He came to Manta Carlos, maybe, four or five months before all the other refugees," she began fairly calmly, starting from a place she knew would not cause her to get upset, and maybe would allow her to talk about him without getting too upset.

"I actually met him a few months before you came back into my life," she told her son giving him a soft smile.

Jeremiah was only vaguely familiar with the people from Halcyon. He didn't fully understand it, but he vaguely knew that they had been fleeing something bad. So he nodded slowly listening as Zora explained Broen. He must have meant a lot to her for her to be so devastated by losing him. Though he also supposed that death always made loss worse. It had for him... Jeremiah swallowed his frown, not wanting to put Zora in a worse mood.

"He must have been very important to you," he said, not sure he should interrupt at all but interjecting anyway.

"He was," Zoraida said as she looked at Jeremiah with sadness. "very important to me. I'd say he was probably the first man since your father that I truly opened up to and let my guard down around," she confessed, thinking of Mattias now and how much she had loved him at the time. In fact, she was pretty sure there would always be a soft spot for Jeremiah's father in her heart.

"Your father is a truly amazing person by the way, and I often see him in you at times," she told Jeremiah, smiling at him lovingly.

"The way you sometimes move or laugh, or when you do your magic," she confessed. "Mattias often did that, the earth magic, and he loved making flowers grow like you do," Zora said, remembering how Jeremiah's father loved to do little things like that to surprise her or entertain her when they were together.

Jeremiah smiled at that. He felt incredibly lucky, having had not two but four encouraging parents in his life. He missed his dads immensely, and often thought about seeing them again. But he was glad to have Mother and Father in their stead.

"He says that I remind him of you. Mostly my hair, I think. But also he says that I am as inquisitive as you ever were when he first met you."

He paused though, looking at the magic circle and reaffirming what he was considering. "Does he, your Broen, I mean. Does he have any living relatives? It would be... sad... for someone to have died without family."

Zora had to smile at that and actually let out a small laugh when Jeremiah mentioned her inquisitiveness. Yes, she had been inquisitive - extremely so, and when Mattias had finally confided in her about himself, she must have spent hours peppering him with questions, wishing she could go and see Svaltalfrheim for herself, excited also that the amazing man she was crazy about was an elf.

"Your father had, has, the patience of a saint," Zora smiled wistfully, "I am surprised he didn't muzzle me sometimes," she said with a private smile as she remembered Mattias and her talking late in the night, and those talks leading to other more pleasant things.

"My Broen, no... no, he didn't have a lot of family. Just a few friends, and his father, and he was not on good terms with him," Zora explained as she moved over to look a the circle from another angle.

A father. Direct blood relations would work best, that was for sure. He would need some fresh herbs. An effigy. A lock of hair. A decent quantity of blood. Gears were turning and he had a pretty good idea of what books he would need to study. Books he could get in Svaltalfrheim, luckily.

Jeremiah smiled wistfully at his mother, knitting his fingers together to cradle them together against his chest. "I still have some time before I go to meet Father. Do you think it would be alright if I met him first? Broen's father, I mean. I can't imagine what he is going through, and I want to do... something, I don't know."
