The food was amazing, the company was amazing, the whole situation was so amazing and made Diego feel so happy. He hadn't expected that it'd be this easy to just slip back into their small family circle. Because yes, for Diego Catalina and Gabe were family. They were more of a family for him than...that man had ever been. Diego didn't even want to compare the two, the contrast was so large that the two could've been in completely different dimensions. Ironically enough.

The dinner finished without any awkward silences or forbidden topics and Diego's stomach was more full than it had been in a while. They didn't starve them or anything at the rehab, but they didn't feed them excessively either.
Though Diego got a bit worried when mom sat them down, and gave him the present she had kept on the chair. Diego glanced at mom and then tentatively opened it; inside there were official looking documents. Diego started reading them, and though he was a dumbass he quickly figured out what they were. Diego's eyes widened and brand new tears sprung to them, and he looked at Catalina with a disbelieving look. And that was when Catalina started explaining.

Each and every word out of mom's mouth tugged at Diego's heart, and his tears very quickly overflowed. He wanted to say so many things back, but Diego didn't speak or move until Catalina was finished. And by then Diego was a sobbing mess barely capable of speaking. He set the papers on the table so he didn't get tears all over them and flew (literally) over the table. Diego hugged Catalina with all his might and cried in her hair, her scent that had become the equivalent of comfort to Diego was would now always also be the equivalent of home.
"Muchas gracias, mama. Te quiero. Y-you were always t-there for me an-and to actually be your l-legit son w-would be...fuck, it's l-like a dream."
Diego cried, stuttering between sobs. He was feeling even happier now, so happy he could burst. Maybe he would burst soon and wake up to finding out that he was still in rehab and this was a dream, because this felt too good to be true.

Diego suddenly gasped, spun around and flew right over to Gabe, hugging him too.
"Perch, holy shit, we can be actual legit legal brothers! You'll be my baby brother! That's crazy!"
Diego exclaimed with the widest smile he could muster, and shook Gabe's shoulders after squeezing him hard for few moments. Diego was hyped now, full of adrenaline. He spun around again to look at Catalina.
"Mom, where's the pen? I'm gonna sign these in a millisecond and fly right over to wherever we gotta return these 'cos this is the best fucking thing to ever happen to me and I want you to be my legit legal mom asap!"

Gabe laughed, tears pouring down his cheeks as he returned the hug. Diego was going to be his brother. His actual brother! They were already close before but now they would be brothers legally. He frowned for a moment in thought. Did that mean Diego was going to change his surname to Vega, too? He almost hoped not. He liked Diego's last name but at the same time, he could see why Feathers would want to not carry his old last name.

"...You're my brother. My ridiculous big brother. Even if you're still always hanging onto me." Gabe teased, watching Diego barrage Catalina with his excitement. He couldn't wait to tell Yuki and his other friends about this. It was... so cool.

Catalina laughed, handing Diego a pen from nearby for her soon-to-be son to sign quickly. His excitement was very contagious and she couldn't help but hug him again as soon as he had signed and filled out his portion of the paperwork. "Oh Diego, sweetie. How about this, you and Gabriel go run down to City Hall to turn in the paperwork and I'll make a nice dessert to celebrate our good fortunes. Actually, that's exactly what you two will do. Now scoot before I get the sandal and make you scoot!" She laughed again, trying to push the two boys out the door. Catalina was limited in time but she felt confident that she could make something truly special for the occasion.

Diego filled his portion and signed his name on the papers so fast it almost looked sloppy, but he didn't care. He was too excited and eager and impatient and he wanted these papers to be delivered RIGHT NOW. He wished he could fly faster than 40mph, he wished he could move at the speed of light, damnit!

"With Perch? Fuck yeah! No need for sandals, I'm basically jumping outta my skin already!"
Diego grinned happily and then impatiently tugged Gabe up from his chair.
"Come on, baby bro! Let's go officially add me as part of the family."
Diego urged and basically ran to the door.
