Mal was in the middle of cooking up some food for himself when his phone rang, so he wasn't able to get it till the second. Not looking at the caller id he'd answer and continue to cook.

"Hello, you got Mal."

"Hey there, cutie," Eliana said.

The tinkling of glass could be heard from her side of the phone. There was a high pitched beeping and Eliana paused. After the beeping had stopped, she said, "I think my apartment is going to be fucked."

"Hey there Eli. Uh why's that?" He was wondering what was happening and what she meant by that honestly.

Keeping his eyes on his omelet there'd be an occasional clank as he shifted the pan around as well as some sizzling.

"Tsunami alert," she said simply. I'm right near the beach, so that's gonna fuckin' suck."

She sighed.

"Are you cooking?" she sounded amused when she asked this. "Is it College boy food? Like mac 'n' cheese and hot dogs, or are you really cooking?"

"Oh fuck, that's right, what are you going to do?" A few seconds of silence. "Maybe I should think about what to do."

"No, I'm actually cooking." He'd flip his omelette with only the pan, thanking his dexterity. "Making an omelette, ham, cheese, mushroom, onion. lightly season with salt and pepper, and covered with chives."

Eliana chuckled. "Maybe I should have let you cook me breakfast, eh? You sound like you know what you're doin' over there."

Eliana took a drink of something, obviously with ice cubes and the glass clang in a way to suggest them. "Hell, I don't know. I'll probably just wait and see how bad it gets. Worst comes to worst, I die and come back later. Hurts like a bitch but it ain't permanent.

"And speaking of hurting like a bitch. I was fuckin' slapped today. Like straight up, pimp backhanded. Honestly not sure whether to be pissed or amused by it."

"Well, I did cook for my mother and I for most of my life so.." He'd remove the pan from the stove depositing his now made omelette on a plate and the pan into the ink.

A mix of emotions going through him at the moment, "You could head inland and avoid dying perhaps dear?"

And just like that the mix went to anger, Mal kept it from showing in his voice as he retrieved silverware for his meal. "Who did it and why?"

She hummed for a while, thinking about something. "I guess I could go inland. I could visit..." she had an awkward pause, "someplace. Like, a place. With stuff. And people.

"As for Mr. Douche-Slap, I don't know if you'd wanna hear about it, Mal. It involves quite a bit of illegal activity. All in all, it was an interesting night, though."

With only caring in his voice, "Well darling, I just want you to be safe is all."

Mal would take a bite of his omelette savoring it, "I can handle hearing about it, that is if you want to tell me."

Eliana sounded a little disappointed when she said, "yeah, I'll be fine."

The disappointment was gone the moment he inquired of the story. Of course, she'd tell it. This was Eliana.

"So, I was hanging around the underground, standing under a streetlamp, having people think I'm a prostitute, making fun of them. Basically a regular night out, right."
