"Let down your golden hair!" Ed commanded in the meanest voice she could muster, exactly like her sister had always read the fairy tale to her. She leaned out the window closest to her, almost able to picture the evil witch on the ground far below her. Oh, wait, that was just a student. She sighed, pulling her head back in and glancing round the room once more.
It was exactly like the tower she always pictured Rapunzel living in, with tall windows surrounding the large upper floor, a small railing for the curved staircase tucked away in the corner. Of course, the golden-haired girl hadn't a staircase to get out, or so Ed assumed. She couldn't think of a reason why the girl would let an evil witch - or even a handsome prince, for that matter - climb up her hair every day if they could just walk up the stairs.
An idea. She grinned, leaning out a window only to quickly withdraw her head. No, it would have to be the tallest window, or at least the highest she could reach. She ran over to the second tallest window in the room, hoisting herself up and leaning halfway out, feet kicking air on the other side. Ed sighed, pouting silently. Her hair was much too short to reach even halfway down the tower, let alone prove worthy of use as a ladder.
"Because i'm not supposed to." She announced to no one, frowning at the idea. Was she really not allowed to do that? Maybe she was just assuming. She had assumed a lot the past day or two she'd been at the Academy, only to be told by the other students it wasn't true. Besides, there wasn't anyone else around.. Ed closed her eyes, slowly lightening her hair and growing it out, until it was a whitish blonde and a more impressive length. Now what? "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo?" Wait, no.. Rapunzel never said that. The prince just came on his own.. Oh well. She attempted to jump back down, underestimating the weight of the hair and finally falling on the floor, a bit of hair still draped out the window.
She closed her eyes, willing the hair to shorten. "It's not.." Her eyes flew open, hands fluttering to touch her hair. "Working." Of course it wouldn't. "Idiot." It'd never worked before, the only nuance of her power she had yet to grasp.
Well. That was stupid.
Ed sighed, digging through her pockets for a knife. Stupid, stupid, stupid.. She pulled out a piece of gum, unwrapping it and sticking it in her mouth. No knife. Why didn't she have one? Was her mother afraid she'd hurt herself? She couldn't remember, though it had only been a few days since she'd last seen her. She couldn't walk, no, not with the weight of the hair dragging behind her, and it was too long for her to even carry down. Maybe, she thought, maybe it was Rapunzel herself who held her hostage in the tower, entrapped by her own hair. She frowned at the stairs, leaning against a wall and idly switching between hair colors, finally settling on a soft pink for the moment.
At least Rapunzel had a Prince Charming to bail her out.
Ooc: ^^;; Ehehh.. Open.
