Kadasha went to the park to play with her two dolls one warm afternoon. She wanted to see why there were so many people there as well. Maybe something fun was happening. But as she got into the thick of the crowd, she really couldn't help but feel completely out of place. At first she was okay weaving her little self between the adults, but when came noon time, people had boxed her in. They were gathering for something, and she couldn't find a way out that she wouldn't have to worry about being crushed.
Shay was having fun sitting on her head as he took the role of navigator, while Kadasha was hugging Sally tightly, afraid of dropping her and having someone accidentally step on her. Shay tugged on her hair and pointed to a stall selling cotton candy in the shape of a really chubby panda. The one the store owner was making looked to be as big as Kadasha herself. She almost forgot to mind the adults when she ran up to the stall. "One cotton candy please!" Shay said, speaking on behalf of Kadasha, who was holding out a dollar bill.
The man at the stall chuckled and took the payment and dropping in colored sugar pellets into the spinning container which, luckily for Kadasha, was transparent so she could see the strands of cotton candy slowly take over the entire space as the man skillfully collected the threads, making the body, then the little ears, and then small nubs for its arms and legs, and even a smaller one for the tail.
"Here you go, little girl. Be careful not to drop it. I made it extra special."
The man leaned over to give the cone to Kadasha, who could barely reach the stall's counter. She happily nodded and Shay said, "Thank you, Mister!" Then they were off.
When she was relatively alone, under the shade of an old tree as most of the crowd had gathered to the center of the park, she whispered to her toys, "Do you want some, Shay? Sally?"
