Rory was looking between brands of makeup here. Some were good for regular makeup, others for stage makeup. She was more interested in the latter. Having joined the drama club at school, Rory had access to school-grade makeup, but she was interested in a few of the high-end stuff. Not that she could afford it.

Cam, even though it was kind of a cliche considering he was a model AND gay, loved shopping. He loved shopping clothes, shoes, jewelery, furniture and hell, even plain grocery shopping was exciting for him. Cam had no idea why but he blamed his mother, who was the same way but even worse. Must ge something in the genes.
But for the first time in forever Cam was out shopping in a makeup store. Cam used some makeup but nothing too overblown. He liked playing around with eyeshadows and different types of eyeliner techniques. He was obsessed making himself look better without anyone even realizing he was wearing makeup.
Today though he had gone all out wearing bright red lipstick and having one sick smoky eyes look. As Cam stepped inside he could feel eyes on him and he smiled a bit, confidently, as the model in him purred from delight over the attention. But Cam's senses were on standby and pushed the model out of the way like that one time that jealous bitch pushed Cam into the audience during catwalk.
Cam walked over to the flashy section with stage makeup that wouldn't be washed off even with a firehose. He noticed one girl on the same section, and saw she was handling a particular brand Cam just adored and that he had actually never seen sold in an actual store. He gasped a bit and went over, looking at the makeup.
"Oh my gosh, back home I always had to order these online. I had no idea they actually sold these in the flesh. I adore this brand."
Cam smiled widely at the girl, noting that her makeup was spot-on.
"Are you a makeup artist?"
Cam asked in a chatty tone, smiling pleasantly and just oozing sunny energy.

Rory jumped when suddenly a man was beside her talking to her like they'd known each other for years. She looked around to make sure he was, in fact, speaking to her. Yup. She was the only one around.

"I'm trying to be," she said conversationally. "Got an intern at Theia Modeling and Muse Fashion."

Shit. She hoped she'd gotten the name right. Her brain had stopped. She was used enough to talking to knew people. After all, she'd had to do it enough back home. But it always caught her just a little off guard anywhere. Any nonchalance on her part was pure luck.

"I'm, uh, Lorelai. Go but Rory, usually. Who're you? You look like the type of person who can afford this sort of thing." She wiggled the foundation at him.

And he did. He looked good. Maybe that was not the best compliment. If it could even be considered one.

Cam noticed that he had spooked the girl, but since she seemed to recover quickly enough and didn't seem bothered by Cam acting so familiarly with her he kept smiling and looked genuinely impressed when she confessed to being an intern at Theia Modeling and Muse Fashion.
"Oh, that's amazing! I hope I could model again, the boss lady at that place has some fire in her. Like she gives no fucks, I love it."
Cam laughed a little and took one of the bright purple lipsticks from the shelf, observing it with interest. The price tag was quite high, Cam did realize that, but he had a serious case of prize blindness due to being raised in a very wealthy household. Cam knew the value of the dollar but only when he really had to.

When the girl introduced herself Cam smiled happily and offered his hand to shake. His nails had the usual bright red polish he favoured.
"Lorelai is such a pretty name! But I'll call you Rory, if that's okay. I'm Camille~ Though I go by Cam. But you can call me whatever you want. Always so nice to meet a fellow makeup appreciator."
Cam chuckled, partly because of Rory's comment on how Cam looked like a person who could afford this makeup. He took a feigned expression of slight shock and looked at himself.
"Oh dear, do I look that much of a money brat? I let my rich bitch aura leak out again, silly me."
Cam laughed, very obviously joking at his own expense, and hit his head with his knuckles in anime style when he said silly me, grinning all the while.

He was so very animated. Very, very animated. It was the type of energy that made Rory tired just trying to keep up with it. She wished she had his enthusiasm.

After some deliberation and a moment to smile at his antics, Rory set the foundation back into its proper place and turned to shake his hand in greeting. "It's nice to meet you, Cam. Do you, uh work at Theia?" Because it sure as hell sounded like he did.

"You look like a model," she commended, eyes sweeping over his body briefly. Models, Rory noticed, were either bird-thin, curvy, or bulky. He was in the first category. Petite and doll-like.

Rory was sure she couldn't be a model, even if she'd wanted to. Too much a defined jaw, even if she had the body for it, her legs and torso didn't have the same length that models did. Her face wasn't the face of a model. It took a very specific body type that few people had naturally.

Cam was very much aware that his energy could exhaust those, who were not used to it, and he was willing to tone himself down if he saw it happen. Rory still seemed okay, so Cam let his true colours fly for now. He smiled cheerily when Rory shook his hand, laughing and shaking his head as well when Rory asked a question.
"Oh no, I don't. I wish. I considered applying for a while but decided to go to college instead."
Cam's tone was chatty, and he like an open book. Well, with the things he decided to be open about.

"Oh, thank you very much. I am a model. Well, former since I have decided to pursue a different career for now. But the modeling never leaves you, you know?"
Cam chuckled, sounding genuinely grateful for the compliment. Every time people assumed he was a model Cam got just as happy. It meant all his years on the industry had left their mark on him, shaping the very person who he was. And as someone who loved modeling and modeling industry nothing made Cam more happy than the fact that people saw he had worked hard to form his identity as a model.

Rory had them walking now. She wasn't sure where, but she figured somewhere with food or drinks was good. am's attitude was infectious and before long, Rory was chatting him up as if they were old friends who'd lost touch for a few years.

"What are you going to college for?" Rory tried to gauge his age, but he didn't seem much older than her. By the way he was talking, she had a hunch he wasn't secretly five hundred or some crazy number like that.

Lorelai nodded at 'the modeling never leaves.' It was something she distinctly didn't know, but she could guess just fine.

Cam walked along with Rory, at first following her but then he remembered a great place with even greater confections and drinks and so he took the lead. He was happy to have found a new friend who shared same interests as Cam, he was a social butterfly but new acquaintances were always a wonderful thing.
"Oh, I was thinking of majoring in interior design. I'm just a huge aesthetics dork with a perfectionist strike and my favourite past-time is re-decorating my apartment. It's a curse, really. What's a man to do?"
Cam pressed his other hand against his cheek and sighed dramatically before grinning at Rory.
"But after being in the modeling industry for almost 10 years I have confidence in my style."

It was good, really, that Cam decided to take the lead. Rory had no idea where she was going. All she knew was that she didn't want to stand awkwardly in the makeup division of a store talking to a man she'd only just learned the name of.

"I'm sorry... ten years? Er, how old are you exactly? You don't look a day over twenty to me."

Maybe he was a child model, but even more likely was that he was someone with a long lifespan and Rory had just been terribly, terribly wrong.

"But interior design, that's interesting. I'm probably going to go for cosmetology and theater once I'm out of high school."

Cam wasn't also exactly an expert on navigating the city streets, but duting his first weeks on the island he had gone out of his way to at least remember good cafes and restaurants in case of situations like this. Cam was a people person through and through, always willing to meet new people.

Cam laughed a bit at Rory's comment about him not looking day over 20 and Cam patter her shoulder lightly, grinning.
"Oh, I'm not. I'm 19, just graduated high school this spring actually. I started modelling when I was around 8 or 9. But.."
Cam looked around exaggeratedly and and stage whispered at Rory, clearly joking.
"There's a rumour going round that I'm actually an ancient being from another dimension. So if someone asks don't comment. I kinda like the mysterious image."
Cam winked and chuckled, on his face a small playful smile.

"Oh, theatre. I love acting, really. Never even dreamed of doing it professionally but as a hobby it's so much fun. I would love to see you do some stage makeup. It's art, I tell you."
