Seyyal had won the Volleyball Tournament with her partner Maddie!

Partially to celebrate that and partially just because she wanted to party with her.. well... party, she had planned out a beach day with the others. Sand, sun, bathing suits, and barbecue. Or at least that's what they seemed to call cooking out over a fire here.

Seyyal herself had decided to wear pretty much the same thing she had for volleyball the previous weekend. A somewhat plain halter top bikini under a t-shirt and boardshorts. Her sandals put away for safe keeping with the bags of supplies and the coolers they had dragged out there into the sand. The warm, coarse sand that felt so comforting to her feet.

Assorted meats, and a few vegetables too, were slowly roasting over the coals she and the others had been tending to. Filling the air with the scents of cooking food along with the pleasant salty taste of the sea breeze. Seyyal stepped away to cast a handful of sand into the air and summoned one of her blades to carefully slice a portion of the meat. Tender, but not ready yet. The blade cast back out into just plain sand as she tossed it away again.

OOC: no posting order. Originally intended for the Lionesses to gather and potentially come across Lycia the first time but anyone who might be invited by one of them or perhaps would wander by are welcome to post. Setting is a little ways out in a more private portion of beach, on Friday the 14th of June afternoon/evening.

Sabra Dawnlight, Defender of Friendship! Seeker of Justice! Champion of the Princess... was laying on a towel in the middle of the sand near by the barbecue. She hadn't touched the grill much at all, her hand at cooking was made more for the broad strokes of combat, not the delicate movements of preparing food properly. At most she had cooked for her friends... a few times. Mostly charring some meat and calling it good. While she lay there in her one piece swimsuit and short shorts for swimming she heard Seyyal cutting the meat a bit.

Opening one eye to look over at Seyyal, "You sure you don't want any help? I know I'm not the best helping hand... but I feel bad if I don't ask I'd be a bad friend." The strong woman shrugged, trying to be supportive, in this land of plenty and relative safety. Sabra's gaze turned back up to the sky, "Ever since we got here... I kind of feel a little... useless here..."

Lottie was busy digging out a circular trench in the sand not to far in the distance. For her beachwear she wore an oversized white t-shirt and some gym shorts which hide a one piece bathing suit. Her usual boots were laid out on a beach towel but her iconic hat is still resting on her head. The smell of delicious food being cooked prompted Lottie to halt her work as she walks over barefoot. As she walked over she managed to catch the tail end of Sabra's conversation.

"Ppfffttt... you being useless? You could carry the three of us on you back and not break a sweat. Your more useful that you let on." blurted out Lottie whom suddenly appeared next to Sabra. She pats her friend reassuringly while smiling reassuringly "And if you still feeling that way... you could always try to help me construct Castle Brightburn."

Lottie then looks to her glorious sand castle, which consists of only a large dug out moat and rectangular sand block in the middle. Her attention turns to the volleyball champion.

"So how is the feast coming along chef? I can smell it all the way over there."

"Chef? Please, I can barely do more than slap some meat over a fire and only mostly avoid burning it," Seyyal grinned back at Lottie before looking over at Sabra. It was true the other girl had... let's just say limited culinary talents. But feeling like she couldnt help just wouldn't do. This was supposed to be a fun day.

"Well if you're sure you dont want to just relax and soak in the sun you could help me lift and turn the spit here. I can do it but... like Lottie said, you're much stronger than us," Seyyal gently coaxed Sabra. Either she'd relax, feeling her offer had at least been made or she'd help. Either way it was good.

She pulled out a small bucket of what smelled like a mixture of spices and something sweet. Barbeque sauce to coat the meat in. A special brand that one of their acquaintances had recommended. Seyyal felt utterly ridiculous using a sort of brush to paint this sauce on the meat.

"I sure hope this is how you're supposed to do it...," her laugh was joyful. They had been a little disjointed and distracted as a group as they each adjusted but this was so nice.

Alaric had spent the brunt of his early day preparing for this. He was wearing a pair of red swim trunks with a distinct gold trim, and a simple white t-shirt. He was flying up pretty high, thankfully he had good vision, and a sense of smell. He'd definitely spot them before they saw him. Finding Seyyal and Lottie was simple enough, he could smell the cooking, and he'd recognize that hat anywhere.

The dragon boy began his descent, coming in a little too fast. That said, he wasn't landing too dangerously close to anyone. He landed a decent way off with a tiny burst of flames, and a chain of draconic grumbling. Then he took a moment to get his bearings, and joined the group.

"Uh... hey Lottie, Seyyal..." he looked at Sabra. Nope, he hadn't met this Lioness yet. Sage didn't seem to be around either. "I guess I made it to the party huh?"

His tail swayed as he looked around, not quite sure what to expect from this gathering.

"Being strong is useful. But when do I need to carry large loads? Or prevent one of you from getting hurt? This place, it's so peaceful." Sabra as she did speak up, she stood up and walked over to the spit and began to rotate it one handed easily. "I mean, if you look around you would find several people stronger than me. Here being really strong isn't to rare. I'm just... average." Sabra was still a little melancholic. She couldn't help but shrug.

While she was rotating the meat a boy dropped from the sky, it made Sabra pause as she looked at them but they apparently they knew Lottie and Seyyal. "Greetings friend of my friends. I do believe we have not been introduced. My name is Sabra Dawnlight. Noble daughter and adventurer! It is a pleasure to meet you." Sabra extended her free hand out to Alaric to shake it while her other hand continued to spin the meat on the spit.

"I mean, is it so bad that things are so peaceful here? We have enough adventure back home as it is so why not relax and have fun in this world. So stop acting glum and turn that frown right-side up!" said Lottie in a cheery tone. Though she wore a smile, part of her worried for her friend. Though Lottie found all sorts of things to enjoy about this place, it was a concern to her that Sabra felt a little out of place. Maybe she should find her a hobby here or something.

"Hey Alaric! You made it to the party!" greeted Lottie, splitting away from her adventuring friends as she goes moves over them.

Seyyal opted to let Lottie handle the cheering up for the moment. She seemed to be the vest a that sort of thing anyway. Probably half of it was because you just couldn't be in the presence of the excitable, happy mage without finding something about her to make you feel like smiling.

On instinct Seyyal knelt down to take a handful of sand as some unknown thing crashed into the beach not far off from them. The two swords flashed out from the sand, only for her to then notice who it was that had just dropped in to join the party. She twirled the blades and simulated sheathing them- though they actually just dissolved into sand.

"Hello Alaric, are you ok? That... was a heavy landing," she smiled but there was clearly some concern in her voice. But she was able to relax now that everything was fine. "Though I guess that's a good thing you could do Sabra- protect us from skydiving boys crashing the party." With a grin she reached over to give her a little playful shove.

Maddie saw Alaric's entrance from a distance. She was not about to be outdone. She and Shir would be invisible as they approached. Holding his hand tight, she would stop with Shir a dozen meters away from the party.

A bright flash would seem to emanate from some spot underneath the sand. A column of glass seemed to emerge, slowly rising up out of the beach, its surface smooth and perfectly reflecting everything like a mirror. It then seemed to pop like a bubble, revealing Madeline and Shir, surrounded by the sparkling remnants of her fading illusion.

She'd wave. "Hey Seyyal!"

The two-piece swimsuit she was wearing today didn't lend itself much to being active - not like what she wore to the tournament. She was just ready to chill out on the shore and look pretty.

She had Shir carry most of their stuff.

"It's nice to meet you too Sabra," he shook her hand, eyeing the meat a bit before sliding over near Lottie, the person he was most familiar with. He glanced back at the somewhat scorched hole he left in the sand and shrugged at Seyyal. "I'm fine, had worst landings really. I just came in a bit too fast is all."

"So what's everyone up to?" he asked looking around. It didn't really seem like too much was happening really. Everyone was just sort of relaxing.

———————————————-

Of course Maddie had to make a big entrance. At this point, she'd probably get fined if she didn't. It was always fun watching her work her magic. He didn't really know the people he was hanging out with today, just that the one girl was Seyyal's teammate for the tournament, and this was their well deserved victory party. The fact that they went undefeated against so many heavy hitters was pretty damn impressive.

Shir was wearing a plain pair of black trunks, and a striped t-shirt. And he was also carrying most of their stuff. Something he didn't really mind when one factored his super strength in. Maddie was the fancy support half, while he'd handle all of the heavy lifting... tanking things.

"Well it sure smells good," he said as he began to set their things up near the others. "I'm Shir, Maddie's pack lion- I mean boyfriend."
