Puu felt quite comfortable living in the woods of the island. The plants had seemed content when Puu came but now the area she lived in thrived. Puu liked to take care of the place that housed her.
Puu was sitting on a tree branch, rearranging the leaves on the tree. They weren't getting the sun in quite the right angle. But after Puu finished the leaves felt content and so did she. Nothing was more important for her than the comfort of plants. Puu slid down along the trunk and landed softly. She grabbed her back bag and moved to the next tree.
It had been almost a year since Puu had come to the island but it didn't show in her grades. Puu had learned how to read but writing was really hard. She was good at biology because she loved nature, life and plants but other sciences, not so much. Puu didn't understand why it was important to learn all these things when she was going to go back to the forest anyway, at some point. To solitude, to loneliness. Puu felt a bit depressed every time she thought of the future. Or now. Or the past.
Puu shook her head and climbed the next tree. She perched herself on a branch but froze when she heard, smelled and saw someone coming. Puu watched as a male who looked like human walked towards the tree Puu was is. Normally she would've been anxious, maybe even annoyed a bit that someone came so near to her home but for some reason Puu's mind felt...calm.

Hadrian hummed quietly as he walked, he'd been walking a lot more lately, largely to avoid anyone seeing his changing feathers, the gray was spreading and even turning black in some areas. His gold eyes looked over the trees as he passed, he liked the forest, it always seemed so peaceful.

He stopped and stretched a bit, he didn't train like he used to, no one was forcing him to be a warrior so there wasn't any reason to, but his natural biology kept him strong. The young angel looked around, still quietly humming a tune that he couldn't quite remember properly.

Then he glanced up in the tree, and there he saw a tiny person, he tilted his head curiously before smiling and waving. "Hello up there," he hadn't expected to see anyone, "I hope I'm not disturbing you."

When the person with weird feeling and wings looked up at where Puu was and talked to her she flinched. But she didn't want to go away, or disguise herself as a bush. Instead Puu felt her fear and nervousness dissipating. It was strange, and Puu guessed it had something to do with this individual. Though it was pleasant to not feel nervous for a second. Like she was back in her forest, without the loneliness.
"H-h-hello, st-strange male."
Puu answered him and adjusted herself on the branch. She didn't want to come down just yet.
"Y-y-you c-could not d-d-disturb m-me. Th-this forest d-d-does n-not be-belong to me, y-you have th-the right to b-be h-here."
Puu avoided looking into his eyes, looking at his wings and chest and feet.
"A-a-are you d-doing so-something to m-me? I am n-not ner-nervous..."

"I'm sorry, you must be feeling my aura," he tilted his head, giving her a calm look, "it tends to give some people a sorta calm feeling, I apologize of it makes you uncomfortable, I can leave if you'd like." He knew that some were uncomfortable with the aura, so he tried to be kind and helpful about it.

"I'm Hadrian Daewon," he introduced himself, giving her a friendly smile, "the foods are very nice, I like to come here to walk, have some time away from the city." The young angel enjoyed being around people, while he'd become true recently he still enjoyed being social.

Glancing at his wings, he remembered his feathers, and made the wings vanish into his bag before turning back to her, "mind if I ask what your name is miss?"

Puu slowly slid down from the tree as Hadrian explained about his aura. It didn't make her uncomfortable per se, more like Puu felt a little bad for Hadrian. After all, it didn't seem like he could make the aura go away. Puu went on with her business, rearranging the branches in a nearby bush when she answered.
"Y-y-you can st-stay, I-I-I am ho-honored that som-someone en-enjoys the wo-woods. I ta-take good care of th-them."
Puu blushed a bit when Hadrian introduced herself because she hadn't realized to introduce herself. How rude of her.
"Fo-forgive m-m-my late in-intr-introduction, I a-a-am Iki-Ikimetsän P-Puu. B-b-but just c-call me Puu. Just Puu. Not m-m-miss"
Puu blushed a bit at the word miss. No one had ever called her that, and somehow she didn't like the word. It was much too formal for a humble gnome like her.
Puu noticed Hadrian glancing at his wings and she wondered if the spreading gray and black wasn't supposed to be there. She had only seen few angels, and they had had white wings. That was, if this person was an angel.
"A-a-are you al-alright? I-i-is som-something wr-wrong with your w-win-wings?"

"It's good meet you Puu," he'd give her a light bow, a form of greeting he'd been trying to use less, but had forgotten in the moment. "You said you maintain the forest?" he looked around curiously, "I'd say you do a fine job, it's quite lovely."

The corner of his lip twitched very slightly when she brought his wings, he was falling and wasn't sure what to do or how to feel about it. "Oh no, they're working just fine," he gave her a smile, trying to make it reassuring, he could sense the little gnome's emotions and didn't want to worry her.

He looked around again, "I feel that I should thank you....I don't think many think about the forest much, but you do, which is special." The young angel gently touched the leaves of a lower branch.

Puu blushed again as Hadrian bowed at her. It embarrassed her, to be treated like she was...someone who earned to be treated like that. Puu pulled her hair down and covered her face with it a little, feeling flattered when Hadrian said good things about the forest.
"Y-y-yes, th-the woods a-are beau-beautiful. N-n-not be-because of m-me, th-though. I me-merely br-bring out wh-what the wo-woods can't br-bring out them-themselves."
Puu finished with the bush and just stood still, turning to face Hadrian. She lowly grew to 120cm, to the size of a small human child. Puu felt like it was rude to stay small. And she didn't feel uncomfortable being taller thanks to Hadrian's aura. Puu was glad she could feel relaxed because of it, not even more nervous or uncomfortable.
Puu frowned slightly when Hadrian said his wings were fine. But she was bad at telling a lie from truth so Puu believed Hadrian and nodded.
"Th-they a-a-are be-beautiful. Th-the wi-wings."
Puu didn't blush as much this time when Hadrian thanked her. She just looked around the woods, feeling pride, no, she was thankful too. And like she had fooled Hadrian.
"I-I-I am a fo-forest gnome, I-I can-cannot stay al-alive without th-the forest. I-it gi-gives me li-life, s-so I'm ju-just pa-paying it ba-back. I-it is me-merely how it go-goes. Al-although I lo-love the fo-forest. I-I really d-do."
Puu smiled genuinely as she touched the trunk of the tree she had just tended to. She could feel how it hummed with energy, with content. And Puu felt content that she had helped it reach it.

"Thank you Puu," he said with a smile, he worried about his wings, he wouldn't be able to hide the change mutch longer, no his status as one of the fallen would not remain a secret for long. "Though they are quite common, many angels here," he said humbly, he was a humble sort, always had been.

He stepped a bit closer and sat beside the tree, "you do a great thing Puu," he looked up and down the tree. "I've read stories about spirits and beings who take care of the forests of this world," he looked back to her, "I'm happy to hear that the stories are true."

The young angel could feel the gnome's emotions, how they were undoubtedly affected by his aura, especially since his aura had been growing in strength though he was currently unaware of that. "Have you lived here long Puu?" he asked curiously "a student at the academy?"

No one had ever complimented Puu for tending to plants and the forest. It was in her blood, her very soul, and she didn't do it for compliments. And yet, when Hadrian said what she did was important, that it mattered, Puu felt pride. She had indeed worked hard for the forest, and she would continue to do so even if no one complimented her. Because Puu could feel the plants' gratefulness when she took care of them. That was a reward enough. Staying alive was just a bonus.
But Puu was humble, and wouldn't fight her nature.
"I-I-I sh-should not b-be com-compared to th-the n-nymphs or ot-other such sp-spirits. I-I am fl-flesh and bl-blood, me-merely liv-living off of the f-forest."

Puu shook her head when Hadrian asked her a question.
"I ha-have been h-here f-for a y-year or so. I li-live in the fo-forest and co-come out for cl-classes. Th-this place is sc-scary and di-different. S-so many noi-noises and sc-scents and pe-people are as st-strange as I, i-if not even st-stranger. Som-sometimes I th-think it'd be ni-nice to go ba-back home b-but th-then I rea-realize I do-don't want to be lo-lonely any-anymore. Be-being lon-lonely is re-really un-unpleasant."
Puu frowned to herself, why was she talking so much.
"Johtuuko tämäkin aurastasi?"
Puu mumbled to herself with her mother tongue.

((Words in finnish mean "Is this because of your aura as well"))

"Yes, this island is certainly very different," he'd rub his arm, his face taking a thoughtful but slightly troubled look, "it seems...easy to get lost in it all." That had certainly happened to him, so many things, new experiences.

He'd tilt his head as he heard her speak in Finnish, he of course didn't understand, he spoke English and Latin but nothing else, he could however feel the small girl's emotions. "Are you ok?" he'd ask, genuinely concerned, he liked helping people.

Hadrian would reach into his coat and pull out a small bottle, "are you thirsty?" he'd offer her the water. "I don't know if I'd be good at maintaining the forest...I don't know much about it, I do like helping people when I can though."
