Veronica laughed at his comment of her accent. She felt pretty good about it, but her reasoning for hiding her accent went beyond feeling like it sounded stupid. "Yeah, but it makes my laugh sound so stupid." She demonstrated the laugh, sort of giggling like a female Goofy if she allowed it to last long enough. "And anyway, I like talking this way better." Still, his kindness made her blush quite a bit.
Veronica arched an eyebrow a bit at the thought of a vampire working at the school. Was that safe? Well, ghosts didn't seem all that safe either, but at least they didn't need blood to survive. Well, they did need to die in order to exist so... Honestly she didn't know which was worse, but it didn't seem like people were dying left and right. Maybe she was just being paranoid when it really wasn't needed.
"So you've been aware of the school before finding it?" Veronica questioned. "My grandmother told me stories about it as a child, but I'm not sure if she actually thought it was real. I'm kind of..." She was about to say that she had a bit of a crisis concerning her thoughts on fact and reality, but that seemed a bit much for someone she just met. She was having enough awkward moments as it was.
Veronica smiled a bit at the word "gifted" but shook her head. Even among all of these bizarre, or gifted, people, she seemed to stand out as being less than what anyone would expect. Even though his powers didn't seem to cause any harm in and of itself, at least other people could see it. No one would be aware that Veronica even had powers if she didn't tell them, and until she found the academy she even questioned if they were real.
"Ionic energy?" Veronica echoed in a question form before a light began to form again. It surprised her at first, but once she was certain it wouldn't harm her, Veronica seemed more in awe than afraid. Veronica's eyes remained on the light as she silently nodded about his senses. Was he a werewolf? At this point, she wouldn't be surprised, but she highly doubted it. If he was, Aedan probably would've told her.
When the light dispersed into fireflies, Veronica's eyes widened in wonder. All of the little lights were clear to see despite the sunlight. The light seemed to approach her in the form of an inanimate cat, and a bird. The pretty bird landing in his hand and transformed into a flower. It was then that he handed it to her, and she smiled at the kind gesture. With a twinge of nervousness, Veronica lifted up a shaky hand and took the flower. "Thank you." She whispered shyly, admiring the plant.
Veronica nodded as she faced him again. "From what I understand," she began as she chose her words carefully. "I have empathetic powers. From what I've researched, empathy is when you're able to sense other's emotions. I can tell when someone's happy, or sad, but I'm the only one who's aware that it exists." She played around with the flower as she spoke. "I can also feel someone else's pain, but I don't think either one of us want to demonstrate that." Veronica chuckled softly. "On the bright side, though, I find laughter extra contagious, I guess."
