Veronica laughed at his comment of her accent. She felt pretty good about it, but her reasoning for hiding her accent went beyond feeling like it sounded stupid. "Yeah, but it makes my laugh sound so stupid." She demonstrated the laugh, sort of giggling like a female Goofy if she allowed it to last long enough. "And anyway, I like talking this way better." Still, his kindness made her blush quite a bit.

Veronica arched an eyebrow a bit at the thought of a vampire working at the school. Was that safe? Well, ghosts didn't seem all that safe either, but at least they didn't need blood to survive. Well, they did need to die in order to exist so... Honestly she didn't know which was worse, but it didn't seem like people were dying left and right. Maybe she was just being paranoid when it really wasn't needed.

"So you've been aware of the school before finding it?" Veronica questioned. "My grandmother told me stories about it as a child, but I'm not sure if she actually thought it was real. I'm kind of..." She was about to say that she had a bit of a crisis concerning her thoughts on fact and reality, but that seemed a bit much for someone she just met. She was having enough awkward moments as it was.

Veronica smiled a bit at the word "gifted" but shook her head. Even among all of these bizarre, or gifted, people, she seemed to stand out as being less than what anyone would expect. Even though his powers didn't seem to cause any harm in and of itself, at least other people could see it. No one would be aware that Veronica even had powers if she didn't tell them, and until she found the academy she even questioned if they were real.

"Ionic energy?" Veronica echoed in a question form before a light began to form again. It surprised her at first, but once she was certain it wouldn't harm her, Veronica seemed more in awe than afraid. Veronica's eyes remained on the light as she silently nodded about his senses. Was he a werewolf? At this point, she wouldn't be surprised, but she highly doubted it. If he was, Aedan probably would've told her.

When the light dispersed into fireflies, Veronica's eyes widened in wonder. All of the little lights were clear to see despite the sunlight. The light seemed to approach her in the form of an inanimate cat, and a bird. The pretty bird landing in his hand and transformed into a flower. It was then that he handed it to her, and she smiled at the kind gesture. With a twinge of nervousness, Veronica lifted up a shaky hand and took the flower. "Thank you." She whispered shyly, admiring the plant.

Veronica nodded as she faced him again. "From what I understand," she began as she chose her words carefully. "I have empathetic powers. From what I've researched, empathy is when you're able to sense other's emotions. I can tell when someone's happy, or sad, but I'm the only one who's aware that it exists." She played around with the flower as she spoke. "I can also feel someone else's pain, but I don't think either one of us want to demonstrate that." Veronica chuckled softly. "On the bright side, though, I find laughter extra contagious, I guess."

He smiled and nodded, "my dad was a big supporter of this place. He would tell me about it all the time." Just thinking about his dad brought his sadness, so many mistakes were made. His smiled faded again, but he forced it back.

"Your welcome," he told her as she took the ionic flower, he wasnt sure why did it. He rarely showed his powers to anyone.

He smiled again as she explained her abilities, "the ability to feel others emotions......that sounds amazing actually. My ionic energy, it's not really good for anything." And he meant, his abilities had only really ever hurt, there were a few people who liked it. "I understand why you don't want to feel other people's pain though." Aedan had enough of his own pain, he wanted to help others, but sharing their pain sounded daunting.

"Don't undersell yourself....hell you managed to make me laugh. Thank you by the way...it felt good to really laugh at something." @Veronica Clayton

"Well, I think your powers are beautiful." Veronica commented. "I would feel like they'd be very useful in cheering people up. You seem so gentle with it. It doesn't seem like it could hurt anyone." Veronica lifted up the flower slightly and twirled it around in her fingers a bit. She smiled at the plant gently as she thought of the kindness in the action that he made in giving her this flower. There had to have been some good in that, right? But why was she so interested in convincing him of this?

Veronica's smile softened at the thought that someone thought her power was amazing. She probably would've thought it was amazing too, if she thought they were really powers. It was really hard for her to tell that it wasn't just her imagination unless someone else was in pain, or she was laughing or crying with them. "I've felt my father's headaches," Veronica agreed with him. "They weren't the most pleasant things to experience, and I think I felt my mother's flu once. I may have even had some of her symptoms. It was... horrible to say the least."

Veronica arched an eyebrow a bit at his comment about her making him laugh. Was that really a part of her power? But it seemed like such a natural thing, laughter. She laughed all the time, she even made herself laugh. Wasn't that just a natural thing? Or was there more to this boy that she thought. Maybe more to his emotions than she thought. She could tell that his emotions seemed a bit more intense than she was used to, yet he seemed to be reacting in a way he didn't normally around her.

Maybe because she was new? He seemed like a nice boy, but did he treat other people differently from her? It was certainly something that made her think, and her brain was more of her home than anything else.

Well, she stopped thinking for a moment before giving him a smile after realizing he was trying to make her feel better somehow. "Thanks." She flashed him a grin. "I don't feel like I'm "Selling myself short" though. I just wish I was certain these are powers I have." Along with something else that confuses me more. If her sensing of emotions could be powers, maybe something about strange dreams she was having could be connected to that too.

"But anyway," she changed the subject. "Tell me more about yourself. What's your favorite subject? Who are your friends?" She let out a bit of a mischievous smirk. "You seeing anyone cute?" Veronica giggled a bit at her attempt at being sly.

"Thank you, that actually means a lot to me," if she knew how many people he'd killed with those abilities, evil men who'd destroyed his life, but a life was still a life. He watched her with a smile as she twirled the flower...the flower that wasn't dissipating, "how...thats not possible." He reached out and touched the flower, it was solid, it wasn't unstable, "that's never happened before...my constructs are normally unstable, they just break up and fade." He looked at the flower and then gave her a smile, "I accidentally did somethingdifferent with it, the blue glow looks good with you though, keep it. A little welcoming gift."

He nodded as she explained her ability to feel pain, "I understand...I dont feel others pain. But I can understand why you wouldn't want to. I have trouble understanding people."

He chuckled and blushed for a second when when she asked if he was seeing anyone, "My favorite class is the college course I take in cybernetics. I have a couple friends, there's Ai, Chole and Addy." Unfortunately that was about it. "No, I'm not seeing anyone, having social problems makes it difficult to get a date." And tge PTSD induced flashbacks aren't helping.

"Really?" Veronica held the flower up to the light and watched the blue illuminate. She turned it around a bit more and smiled. This flower felt as stable as it shouldn't be. Veronica played around with one of the leaves, and it was still solid. Giggling, she place it into her hair after he claimed she looked good with it. It struggled to stay put for a few moments, but after a few moments of determination, the teen got it to stick. "Well, if it stays stable, yes. I will keep it." She gave a slight nod, quite pleased with herself. "Thank you. It's beautiful."

She chuckled along with Aedan, and felt quite a bit of a flush on her own face, empathetic to his twinge of embarrassment. Well, served her right, she supposed. Ai, Chole, and Addy. All names she would probably forget by the time this conversation ended, but they had to be nice people if they were friends with this boy.

After mentioning the two names, Veronica could sense just a bit of disappointment. Looking around the vacant place, and judging from what she knew of him so far, it seemed like he didn't really have a lot of friends. Her smile softened even more than before. She knew what it was like not to have a lot of friends. Veronica Clayton didn't even have a one from her hometown.

She used the other topic to try and lighten the mood a bit. "Well, I don't know," Veronica said with a smirk. "I think, whether you know how to talk to people or not, girls are really missing out." She gave him a rather awkward wink and let out a dorky laugh with her Southern drawl before hiccuping it away.

"But anyway," Veronica changed the subject again, softening her gaze at Aedan before getting up and giving him her hand. "I think this flower is a sign. We should be friends. I mean, it's a miracle I even talked to you, let alone sat down with you for this long. Soooo, how about it?" Veronica laughed at the awkwardness. It felt nice to be able to do that rather than feel nervous about it.

He blushed when she said girls were missing out by not dating him, "I...thank you. That means a lot...actually." Aedan wasn't sure what was going on here, but he was enjoying talking to Veronica, it was difficult to carry on a conversation with his own friends.

He chuckled at her laugh/hiccup combined with her accent, "you have a nice laugh...it's cute." Did..did he really just say that. Aedan begins to search his mind for an explanation as to where that came from..he found none.

He smiled, a true smile, one not bogged down by the nightmares and flashback, "yea..let's be friends." He wnt to grab another soda and found his sunglasses sitting there, he picked them up. He normally wore them to hide his glowing eyes, but he had forgotten about them. He shoved them into pocket with a smile and chuckle, "It was good to meet you Veronica...and I'm happy to have you as a friend."

Veronica nodded as the two of them stood up. Once she took his hand, she shook it rather passively and laughed at another awkward attempt at interacting with him. They released and he went and grabbed his sunglasses. Honestly she hadn't even realized he had any until that moment. The two of them smiled at each other, Veronica fully capable of keeping eye contact with him now.

It was funny. At the beginning of their talk, Veronica couldn't keep her eyes off the floor, but slowly and surely she had made her way to the point where she couldn't stop smiling at him. It was a really good feeling to know that she'd finally made a good friend. "Thanks to you too," Veronica said with a bit of a blush. "I'm glad we had this talk. You play on the violin beautifully. If you don't mind, I would like to hear you play some more sometime." Now seemed like a good time to let him be, so she walked over to the stairs that she had walked up to get there.

"For now, I'll let you get back to your practicing, or whatever you want to do." And with that, the girl smiled and waved at Aedan before trotting down the stairs. Yes, there was certainly a lot of things in this school that Veronica wasn't used to, but there was definitely one thing she was certain of: "You done good in coming her, Viola." She said, calling herself the nickname her younger brother would give her. She even used the Southern drawl that Aedan thought was cute. She blushed again. "You done good."
