Hella was far from used to this sort of thing. Her only expeiexper with dating had been Virgil, and he had kind of always taken care of their dates. But she was determined to be more proactive this time.

She stood in front of the door to Aura's dorm room, dressed down slightly with a tank top under a light jacket and a pleated skirt with stockings. Nothing fancy, just something cute.

Her stuffies, now numbering four, stood obediently behind her with bundles of pillows and blankets rolled up and tied to their backs like rucksacks. There was Lars the moose of course, Kjetil the cat and Gyrte the dog. But there was now also a bunny with long ears tied back with a bow like a ponytail.

Hella knocked, three small but firm raps on the door. She breathed to calm herself and checked the basket of food one more time. Nervousness taking over.

Aura hadn't been on a date before. Ever. Not even close.

So she was nervous. Like really nervous- afraid she was going to say or do the wrong thing and ruin it. But she also really, really was looking forward to it. After recovering from the latest bout of moon-stuff she was determined to go for it. Hella was so sweet and gentle with her.

She had dug through all her clothes to find something to wear but ultimately settled on something simple that she was comfortable in. Which ended up being a turquoise tank top of her own and black yoga pants.

Aura had gathered what pillows she had and then paced back and forth while she waited. She was in the middle of a mental argument about maybe dressing up more when she was startled by the knocking. Too late to change her mind, she padded over to the door and unlatched it.

As soon as Aura saw Hella, and her entourage, her nervous frown inverted into a small but clearly happy smile. "Hey Hella," she said before reaching out to hug the girl with her perpetually warm arms. Ignoring the nervous butterflies that rose up in her stomach. Also, she had forgotten that the small grey tendrils on the side of her face were currently looped around some of her hair to pull it out of the way.

"I see you um, brought some friends," she laughed a tiny bit and waved at the gaggle of animated animals and then gestured for Hella to come inside the dorm.

It was a fairly normal dorm room, though the living room area was decorated with a mix of four different styles. All somewhat girly in their own ways. Though Hella had come by before so it wasn't exactly anything new to her. Just she was there to stay a while this time, rather than drop off food with one of Aura's roommates.

Hella wasn't quite ready but leaned into the hug enthusiastically. She actually enjoyed how warm Aura was, but said nothing because she didn't want to be weird. She laughed a little bit and looked over at her stuffies as they all went into the room. "Truth be told, they're stronger than me. There's a reason I have them help with chores and the like. They're each as strong as a fully grown man."

"You look good," she said, glancing Aura over. They had both decided to opt for comfort over prettying up too much, which was just fine for Hella. "Cozy," she added with a nod and a smile.

Once inside, Hella set down the basket of food and looks around. "Where do we want to set up the fort? I figure this would give us the most space, but. I don't want to kick your roommates out of their living room."

Wherever they decided to set up, the stuffies would put down their bundles there and go sit quietly in a corner. As Hella started to work on the fort, she almost started humming absentmindedly but stopped herself.

Aura was so happy hugging Hella but she kind of felt like she might have jumped the gun a little. The girl hadn't even come in yet and she'd practically jumped on her. Aura released Hella with a sheepish look on her face, but her small smile remained. She nodded at the explanation of the stuffies, though she did think they were so cute.

"O-oh, um...," she stammered a little as she looked down at what they were both wearing. Thankfully they'd seemed to think along the same lines and both were dressed for comfort mostly. "Thank you, you look really um... cute." Aura's face was flushing with color at this but she had managed to get out her compliment without too much of a struggle. Being out of the spotlight made things a little easier.

"I um..., made some space in my room if you want to go in there," she guiltily answered. Aura had rearranged her furniture in her bedroom to leave a decent sized open space for them. Not anything super spacious but... well it was just the two girls that needed to fit inside and closeness wasn't so bad...

Aura gently took Hella's hands and led her to the bedroom to show her. The furniture was clearly moved and the bed shoved over into the corner to give them space. there was a decently sized tv on the wall if they wanted to watch something though. Aura had been sure her bedroom was comfortable for those times when she really didn't feel up to leaving her room.

As Hella began working Aura followed her lead. If she'd had larger ears they would have flicked towards Hella, but instead she cocked her head to the side. "Um, do you like to hum? It's ok if you do. Your voice is um...pretty," she offered softly. Not quite realizing it could have been something very unpleasant going on with the humming.

Hella kind of looked at the floor, her face flushing with embarrassment. "Oh, no..." she said with a shake of her head. "I don't even like the song. I just heard it so much it gets stuck in my head sometimes and I don't even realize."

Once the fort was set up, having decided to leave a wall open so they could get in and out and see the TV, Hella slipped her hand into Aura's and grinned at their work. "Well I feel safer already, don't you?"

She paused for a second, then added. "So do you wanna eat first or what? I'm good for anything."

Aura blinked and then started rubbing at her wrist as she realized she'd been mistaken. "O-oh ok. Maybe we um, can find you a song you like instead." Aura quietly brushed her hand against Hella's shoulder in an attempt at comforting her as she moved to grab and set another pillow.

When it was all set up Aura happily took Hella's hand in her own. Without even a flinch or hesitation. "I um, do feel safe here with you," she whispered softly as she smiled at Hella and glanced over at the array of stuffies in the corner and the pile of pillows and blankets they'd set up.

The other question made Aura look down in embarrassment herself. "I um, am really hungry," she admitted as she nodded slowly. The smell of what Hella had brought was lingering in the air as it was, and Aura was always hungrier before and after the full moons. She managed to look back up at Hella's face and gave a slightly toothier smile, with her wolven fangs showing just a bit in her excitement.

"I'd like that, hearing what kind of music you like."

Hella smiled back, showing her own slightly sharp teeth. Okay she was cheating a bit by shifting them, but it was for solidarity. "Well you get comfy. I'll grab the food," she said, leaning forward to kiss Aura on the cheek.

Hella grabbed the bag of food, bringing it back looped over her arm. Everything was individually wrapped for convenience, and it was all a bit decorative to boot. Strips of venison and rabbit wrapped together into the shapes of roses, dressed with vegetables that could easily be picked off for actual eating. Most of it was raw or blue rare, seared at the edge but just as uncooked as when it left the butcher. There was a small salad for Hella, but she ate some of the meat as well.

She smiled as she unpacked the food, setting it down between the two of them. "I wanted to do something nice. I hope it's enough." If Aura needed extra she was absolutely willing to forego her own portion of the meat and stick to her salad, but she didn't want to put her on the spot like that or make her feel bad.

"So do you want to listen to music or find something to watch? Or we could just talk while we eat."

Hella's smile was really pretty, Aura realized. Even with the teeth all sharp and everything. She wasn't at all self-conscious about her own wolf teeth- she actually loved being a wolf. But seeing Hella do something small like that was comforting. The kiss on the cheek helped a lot too. Aura's face flushed a little and the tiniest bit of a giggle escaped her mouth as she nodded and then crawled into their fort of coziness. There wasn't a ton of room, as expected, but the walls of pillows were perfect.

She sat with her legs stretched out in front of her and smiled happily when Hella returned. She'd done so much work for this! Aura's mind boggled at how long it must have taken to make everything look so pretty and delicate when it was just strips of meat at its core. "W-wow, this is um, not just food but art," she exclaimed and peered at the various rose shapes. Of course she could only eat the meat but it didn't seem like that would be hard to do.

"This is um... wonderful Hella. There's plenty for both of us...," she reached out for Hella's hand in a comforting gesture and then trailed off as she glanced at the salad. "um... if you want meat too I mean. I can um, only eat the raw meat anyway." Aura picked a piece of raw venison up to try and smiled before reaching for a napkin in a hurry to wipe her mouth. Seemingly a little worried about spilling on the blankets and pillows.

To be perfectly honest Aura might have chosen to watch tv normally, to distract from chowing down on meat and in case she didn't know hat to say. But she kind of wanted to pay attention to Hella. Splitting the difference she reached for a remote and turned on some music, the smallish set of speakers in the corner starting to play one of Aura's many playlists. "I um, i'm really glad we're doing this. It feels silly but... in a happy way," she admitted as the opening to House of the Rising Sun by the Animals began in the background. Aura hadn't ever really made a romantic playlist- and wouldn't have had the courage to put on e on if she had anyway.

"I think we need silly sometimes, you know?" Hella was working on her salad slowly, trying not to watch Aura eat in case she made her nervous. "If I took myself seriously all the time I'd go crazy."

As they ate, Hella scooted a bit closer to Aura until their shoulders touched. She honestly wasn't paying a ton of attention to her own food: it still tasted like ashes after all. "The music is nice. I never really heard American music before I left home. Da was very traditional. He didn't like having to understand new things. It took us, my siblings and I, years just to get a computer and half an hour a week of internet."

Hella laughed thinking about it now. How ridiculous it seemed, how backwards and primitive. But how a part of her missed it too. Learning how to fight with a sword, forge and repair armor, traditional ballroom dancing. Thinking about it made Hella remember that there were things she wanted to tell Aura, since they were... wow it was really weird to even think the word. Dating.

But she also didn't want to make things too awkward or heavy. They were having a good time.

Aura was indeed fairly nervous about her eating. Slurping up raw meat was kind of low on the general attractive qualities list she was pretty sure. But she was hungry and she couldn't help but dig in. Trying not to make a huge mess of things for everyone's sake. The uncooked meat smelled extremely enticing even though raw meat itself wasn't generally that flavorful.

As Hella scooted closer Aura turned to give her what she hoped was a calm smile. "We didn't have a lot of um, American music either. My dad loved the fiddle though and my mom liked to sing to us. It was a little village. But we swapped music a lot on the islets so..." Trailing off felt like the right thing to do there. She didn't want to sour the date by focusing on her own craziness. The diagnosed and treated kind.

Aura rubbed at her wrist and then stopped herself. Instead, taking a break from eating to lean her head on Hella's shoulder. "You know, I wasn't sure i'd ever um, be able to date someone. I'm really glad that wasn't true. You're really sweet." It sounded dumb whe she hear her own words out loud but it was too late by then. The couple small grey tendrils on her face that weren't holding her hair back wiggled a little in exasperation. Why couldn't she think of something more interesting or thoughtful to say? Even though what she'd said was true- if it had been someone else Aura might have run off at too much attention. Hella had been great about slowing things down so they were manageable.
