La'Hi was walking nowhere. It was almost pacing, a constant circuit around the dorms. If anything, it was procrastination, giving herself more time to wish she'd listened to the instructions of the man at the office. Where was she supposed to go?
She wished she had sheet. Instructions that she could read over and over, absorbing every detail, every clumsy word. She wondered if humans did that on purpose. In her native tongue she could say things in a few words that required multiple sentences in English, so surely they couldn't have accidentally been that inefficient. Maybe it was so their books would last long and be entertaining, but then what about educational books? Why did they need to be so long? Clearly they needed a language for entertainment, and once for communicating important things, she had it all figured out.
She sighed as her train of thought reached an end. The damnable english number system that each room was labelled with irritated her and made it impossible to keep track of where she was. The number ten was a rubbish number. Stupid beyond belief. Especially since it was making things even more impossible for her to work things out and find her room.
Unless of course... She was meant to choose one! Duh! She felt like an idiot, obviously that was how it worked. Why else would they put her in the midst of so many! That one over there looked like it would do just fine!
She walked over, and finding the door unlocked, fearlessly threw it open.
