[ NONCON WARNING (G-Rated) ]
Name: La'Hi (Lah-Hee)
Age: 17
Birthday: 2nd of August
Gender: Female
Species: Spiritborn
Class: High School
Grade: 11
Appearance Description: La'Hi stands at 5'3", and has a fairly delicate build. She has short, messy, curly hair that she frequently enjoys putting things into, especially flowers. Seeing her walking around with a veritable jungle of leaves, flowers, pins and ribbons haphazardly stuck up there is not an uncommon sight and her eyes are usually brown, the only exception being when she casts magic. They turn an electric blue, and stay that way for up to an hour afterwards. She lacks the ability to normally put on muscle mass or weight, or to grow her hair out any longer then it is. She could use Ro'Ih to alter her body to make those changes, but she'd have to sacrifices mass from somewhere else, or make herself smaller. Her clothing is actually technically a part of her body, but non-essential.
Personality Description: La'Hi is a cheerful and energetic girl who is rarely truly sad or angry. She flits through ideas and focuses like a hummingbird through flowers, rarely staying on one for very long. She might ask someone a question about bees, and then stop them halfway through to ask why people enjoy eating honey, and then interrupt them again to ask why cereal is served with milk. That being said, she's aware of her tendency to do that, and when she knows the situation is serious, she can stay on track. She can have difficulty judging the situation, or reading a persons feelings, regularly leading to her saying things that are hurtful or inappropriate without any malice. She enjoys trying new things, and will get bored of listening to the same kind of music, or eating the same kind of meal, very quickly. In direct contrast to this, she rarely gets truly attached to people, but when she does, she idolises them and tries to spend as much time around them as possible. This is partly just her personality, and partly an awareness of her weakness to the commands of magic users; she deliberately attaches herself to people she's sure will detest the idea of bending her mind.
Species Abilities:
Ze'Ro - Spiritborn have two bodies, one that is "Ih'Ro", physical, and one that is "Hi'Ro", magical. The Hi'Ro is their true body, as it hosts their mind, but their Ih'Ro binds them to the world. Being made up of magical energy comes with several disadvantages. If their Ih'Ro is killed, their Hi will dissolve into ordinary magical energy. They're extremely vulnerable to spells, as they twist their very being; illusions are nearly impossible for them to see through, and polymorphing spells require almost no effort to enact. Furthermore, Spiritborn have a strong compulsion to obey the commands of magic users, especially those adept at commanding magic with their voice. There may be more, similar weaknesses, but they are yet to be discovered.
Powers:
[1] Ozzu'Ro - La'Hi is a practitioner of the Spirit Born's unique form of magic, Ozzu'Ro, which allows her to manipulate and absorb magical energy, whether it's hers, ambient, or someone elses. Like all Spiritborn magic, it's far easier to use when accompanied by a spoken keyword. The more focused, the better.
[1.1] Vu'Orih - Practitioners of Vu'Orih can create constructs out of raw magical energy, ranging from armour, to barriers, to weaponry of all sorts. They cannot create any objects that possess a volume larger than 1/4 metre cubed. New, complex object may require up to an hour of concentration to create the first time they're conjured, as moving parts and fine details require specific design rather than a vague impression. They cannot create chemical compounds, or mimic them, which makes things like guns impossible to create (as they would require gunpowder). Constructs are about as strong as iron. Constructs that are under tension can be created.
[1.2] Ro'Uv - Practitioners of Ro'Uv can absorb or twist the magic of a spell, destroying the spell itself. This technique takes concentration, and becomes more difficult to use depending on the complexity of the spell. Multiple spells at a time are impossible to absorb, and she needs to be aware of the spell, so she can easily be taken by surprise or overwhelmed. She must also be in contact with the magic she's absorbing. Spells that are designed to be recharged or use other sources of magic, such as enchantments, cannot be destroyed through Ro'Uv.
[1.3] Alzu'Ro - Practitioners of Alzu'Ro cna create orbs of highly concentrated magical energy that detonates after a set time, or upon impact with another object. These orbs have variable levels of explosive power, ranging from a bullets propellant, to a hand grenade. It takes five seconds to charge these orbs, and only one can be created at a time.
[2] Ro'Ih - By dissolving and reforming their physical form, practioners of Ro'Ih can achieve many feats, the simplest of which involves altering their physical form to be peak human, or to look different. As clothing is a part of their Ih'Ro, it can be altered through Ro'Ih.
[2.1] La'Ih - Practitioners of La'Ih can move at incredible speeds while their Ih'Ro is dissolved. They possess a intangibility while doing this, but struggle to move through magical or enchanted objects.
[2.2] La'Vu - After dissolving their Ih'Ro, practitioners of La'Vu can a magically powered object, and possess it, as if it were their own body. This allows them to spend up to five minutes with their Ih'Ro dissolved.
Biography:
The Spiritborn exist in a world both separate and the same as Earth. Some might call it a parallel universe, or an alternate plane of existence, but this isn't quite right. It exists in the same world as ours, it just isn't here in the same way earth is. It exists as an anomaly, a world that Earth could have been, but never was. A possible future filled with so much magic, it brute forced itself into existence. Its inhabitants, beings of pure magical energy, once traveled through the boundary of reality to arrive on earth, and began interacting with its inhabitants. They were known to the humans as spirits. To exist on earth however, they needed physical bodies. First, these were crafted from clay, but over time they became organic. They were weak, no stronger than a human infant, but they made up for that weakness with their vast magical prowess. Overtime, some of these spirits had children with the humans, and the children were called Spiritborn. They possessed both the magical body of a spirit, and the physical body of a human. They realised that the Spirits were apathetic, and lacked true emotions, and slayed them before their curiosity with the human race caused them to harm them. They traveled to the Spirits world, and continued their massacre, completely wiping them all out. They settled the spirit world, and built their own society there, keeping a watchful eye on the humans.
Their society formed around almost half a hundred different kingdoms. Each was ruled by a royal family, who commanded the kingdoms nobles, who possessed their own workforce and militia. Conflict between kingdoms was frequent, and the nobles were expected to bring their resources to full bear in defense of their kingdom. As a result, they held most of the power, and political conflict between noble families became even more frequent than the conflict between kingdoms. The life of a noble was cut throat. Children had to be raised surrounded by body guards, as assassination attempts were frequent and acceptable. Noble children were taught the basics of society, and how to speak, read and write till they were five, at which point tutors would educate them on history, magic, mathematics and other standards of their status. After twelve years of this, the young adults would be let loose to explore the world on their own. At this point, assassination is deeply frowned upon, as the children should be left free to explore society without having to fear any of its dangers.
La'Hi is one such noble child. Gifted with one of the most respected names known to the Spiritborn, and given every luxury she needed, she lived a life free of suffering. She excelled under a tutor who knew how to channel her hummingbird mind, and while nothing exceptional, her talents as a practitioner were well above average. When given an opportunity to leave home, she decided to go somewhere completely unique: Earth. She was excited by how strange and varied it all was, and hoped she could gain skills and ideas that would give her an edge in society. She found herself in the middle of the USA, armed with nothing more than her own body, and a vague understanding of the english language.
Fortunately, she came across a magic user named Erin Anderson, who figured her for some sort of supernatural creature and took her in. She taught La'Hi how to function in society, and helped her pick out a more suitable outfit (one that cost her an inch of height's worth of mass). After almost a year with him, she decided to move on, but not before Erin confessed she had feelings for her. La'Hi felt uncomfortable, and had no desire to stay with her anymore, but when she tried to run, Erin demanded that she stop and consider what she had to say. It was then that they discovered her weakness to the commands of magic users. Erin twisted her mind to her own ends, making her love her, and extensively reveal every aspect of her culture and knowledge. Over time though, she began to go insane. She knew deep down that she only cared for her because of what she was doing to her, and that she'd blown her only chance to garner her true affections. Her every waking moment was filled with day dreams of how things could of gone if she'd tried things a different way. Unable to cope with the guilt of what she'd done, and unable to reconcile with her visions of what could of been, she killed himself.
Traumatised, she hid in his house for almost a month, but slowly recovered. She managed to recover he former cheer, and blocked out memories of her time with the magic user, though she remained more cynical and paranoid, and never regained her carefree attitude. Through the magic user's contacts, she was able to get onto Starlight Academy, and received an invitation not longer after, which she happily accepted.
Additional Information: The Spiritborn have their own language, which I've created. It's extremely simple, and seems nonsensical when seen without knowing how it works, but it does follow rules, and I do plan on having her regularly speak it, or at least phrases from it (Curse words, greetings, etc.). It's also worth noting that the Spiritborn use a base nine numerical system.
