Peace...And yet...

Ren saw the change, and started to move forward to comfort her, but was stopped by a look from Pop. This was a father's job. And Pop was the closest thing to a father that Pix had. Ren nodded and stepped back, allowing Pop to do his thing, as much as he hated to see her like this.

Pop moved forward, taking PIx's hand that had rubbed her scar in his. "I love you honey. You're never going to have to go back to her." he said gently, pulling her into a gentle hug. This was his little girl. He stroked her hair. "I promise." it wasn't the first time he'd made a promise, but every promise he made, he kept.

Pix simply let herself be comforted, face buried in his chest, arms wrapped loosely around his waist.
"I love you too," four simple muffled words, perhaps not even heard, but they were big for her. Never before had she said them, not even to Ren-

"And I love you too Muff," well now she had, but still, it was the first time she'd voiced her emotion for the pair aloud, and it was surprisingly easier than she'd expected. Letting one hand drop from Pop's waist, she held it out, knowing Ren was nearby, she waited for him to take it.

Ren took her hand, grinning slightly. "It's one great big love fest!" he exclaimed, he gave her a hug as well, before both Pop and he stepped back, giving her her room once again. "I guess I'm just a great big love muffin." he added, cracking a joke.

Pop smiled, shaking his head at Ren. "Yes. Well I'm sorry, but I'd better pop back over to the ranch now, before Ramon get's nervous." he said, a small portion of regrett in his voice. "Bye honey." he gave Pix another squeeze, then gave Ren a hug. Then he disappeared.

Ren glanced at Pix with a grin. "Well. I'd immagine that this is the most physical contact you've had since ever." he drawled, a teasting twinkle in his eye. He loved her too. His almost little sister.

"More than all my years combined," she answered quite honestly. Looking at him only after she waved to the space where Pop had been, he couldn't see her obviously, but she still felt the need to carry out the action. With an inhale and an exhale, it seemed as if the emotional Pix who'd had tears clouding her vision, was gone. When her lids rose after a blink, her eyes were clear, her spine was straight, chin tipped back as she looked up at him.

"So Muff, any recent pranks or fights I should know about? Or any plans for some?" she asked, her words now completely the clipped notes of her second accent, her childhood drawl completely gone. Her head tilted slightly, the hint of a grin around her lips, curiosity lingering in her gaze.

Ren grinned. "Well, unfortunately, all of the people here are hopelessly boring. There's really nothing that I can do." he drawled with a shrug. "I'm still thinking of dying some of the guy's laundry pink. But I think I need to take out life insurance first. Powers are a little more vapourizing." he chuckled, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Ren!" the girls squeaky voice could be heard a mile away, and Ren visibly winced. "I guess this is one of those admireres you were afraid of..." he said quietly, turning to see a very skinny 14-year-old trotting over to them.

She flipped her hair as though she were a supermodel, and Ren cast Pix a 'save me.' look. He was too nice. It was a known fact. He never had the ability to say unkind words to girls. No matter how obnoxious they were. She showed a row of pearly whites obviously corrected by braces. "I've been looking for you all day!" she squealed.

Ren's accent disapeared amazingly, leaving a dull, accentless voice in it's stead. "Yeah." he said quietly. It was then that the girl noticed Pix, and gave her a withering look. "Who's she?" she sneered, and Ren covered a laugh with a coughsneeze.

"Well that's depressing," her voice was slightly disappointed as she responded to Ren's assessment of the prankable student body. After the squeak and Ren's next statement a raven brow rose beneath her hairline. She caught his look, the girl's attempt at a menacing stare, and mentally sighed. Of course Pix knew of Ren's inability to speak the truth if it was unkind to girls, especially younger ones, it'd been that way since they were children. Fortunately enough, Pix was usually was able to, but listening to her sneered question, the sixteen year old decided it wasn't worth unleashing her tongue.

"Why I'm Ren's girlfriend, you didn't tell her darlin'?" when Ren's accent had faded, Pix's had come back, her drawl sweet as honey. Moving over to her surrogate brother, she linked her arm with his, placed a hand on his chest, and looked up at him with what she hoped was an adoring gaze. Had she been in a right state of mind, her actions would've been repulsive to her own way of thinking, but it had been a rather emotional day and this was the closest to a prank she was going to get.

Now, Ren's the ultimate actor, so he matched that admiring look thrice over, pushing the thought of how awkward it could have been. He grinned sheepishly, extremely well played, and hard to believe it was completely fake. He glanced at the younger girl, then back to Pix. "I...Guess it didn't seem like a good topic. You know, 'Just to let you know, I have a girlfriend.'" he directed his whole attention onto Pix, pretending that the 14-year-old didn't exist.

"It's alright sugar," she drawled once more, managing to catch a glimpse of the girl in her peripheral vision. Her mouth was open, eyes round as saucers, but she was slowly becoming aware of what was happening. It was as if she weren't sure to be miffed, or embarrassed. Pix wasn't able to look and see though, for the expression she'd seen had caused her to bury her face in Ren's shoulder. Since she'd also wrapped her arms around his neck, it gave off the impression of a tender embrace, which was completely false. The raven haired girl knew she wouldn't have been able to hide the laughter on her face, as it was she was having a difficult time trying to keep her shoulders from shaking.

He could feel the barely controlled shakes overcoming his best friend's body, and he could feel them building as he glanced at the 14-year-old from under his eyebrows. She was standing rather awkwardly, not quite sure what to say. He buried his face in her hair to hide the grin, then muttered, just loud enough so that the 14-year-old could hear his words, "Let's go somewhere to be alone." and with that, the two disappeared from the lake, reappearing in the lounge. As soon as they were in the lounge, Ren let go of Pix, and started laughing, dimple showing up in his cheek, gold eyes twinkling with glee.
