Peace...And yet...

Ren grinned, laughing out loud. Just as she could read his mind, he could read hers. He tweaked her chin. "Sorry. I can only teleport across Texas so far. We'll have to travel as the mortals do." he chuckled, pushing his hands into his pocket. He smiled the one smile that brought out a small dimple in his cheek, remembering something.

"I can teleport letters and other small items like that though.." he trailed off, making a suggestion, without making a suggestion. "But yeah. I went out to live on his Ranch once you left. I only came here this year. But I've got a phone number for him, so you can talk to him over the phone too." he knew how much Pop meant to her, because Pop meant the same to him. He didn't know how his Father turned out the way he did with Pop as a father, but he did. He loved Pop more than his own Father.

Her head remained in the odd position, her eyes lost their glow, but the grin remained. She did feel a stab of disappointment at not being able to see him immediately, but there was the phone, and pictures. It was odd, a week ago she'd lost one of the rare few she trusted, yet now she'd regained two on the short list. While not caring to dwell on whether the trade was a fair one or not, Pix was simply happy that such a thing had occurred. Grateful really that she now had the one person who'd meant the most to her, when she'd expected to be utterly alone.

"Small items yeah? How about a pair of goggles and a picture?" the glow was quickly coming back, as her mind set to scheming again. Never before had she taken a picture of herself, but for Pop, she may have to make an exception.

Ren nodded. "Yup. I can do that." He recalled now, that Pop could teleport, just like him, but 6 times stronger. He knew that as soon as Pop heard that Pix was back, he'd be here in a flash. He was grinning with the greatness of it all, but containing it, just so that it looked as though he was sharing her glee, and only that. It was fun to have a secret like that one.

"Maybe write him a little note or something too. That'd make him so happy. I'll bet he'll scare all of the ranch hands." He chuckled lightly, as he looked at his friend. He couldn't express how happy he was to have her back.

Pix nodded, of course a note, it'd be the fastest way since she currently didn't have a dark room in which to develop her pictures. From the back pocket of her faded jeans an extremely short pencil and thin mini note pad were retrieved, you never knew when you'll suddenly be struck with something that needed to be written down, lest you forget. Taking a step forward, she placed the paper of Ren's shoulder, lightly printing her words so the pencil wouldn't rip through the paper to his shirt.

"Here Muff," she said with a soft smile, after she'd finished. Stepping back she'd held out the short note for him to read, before she folded it and placed it in his hand. Her cheeks were hurting, not used to smiling at all, let alone every other second. She hadn't felt this much happiness in the past six years, a depressing thought, except that nothing could currently dampen her mood.

Pop,
Look at how much better my printing's gotten, told you I'd be better than you some day.

The note disappeared from her hand before it even touched his palm, and he grinned, a tiny pebble disappearing with it. After all, he needed something to get Pop's attention.

The note appeared before the old man, as he sat, filling out his tax forms. He finished the last thing he needed to fill out, when a pebble hit him in the head. He glanced around, looking for Ramon, but found nobody. He smiled softly, gold eyes glittering as he muttered, "Ren." He knew the boy couldn't send himself yet, but he was good enought to send little things. He looked around for a note, and read the short thing. Pondering for a moment why Ren's handwriting looked so different. Then he read the last words. There was no doubt that Ramon had heard his yell, because the Mexican dashed in a moment afterwards. "Are you ok, Senor?" he asked, worry in his eyes. Pop had tears in his eyes as he nodded. "Yes Ramon. Everything's fine. There's just been a change of plans. I'm going to be away for a bit. I don't know how long, but you're in charge until then." With that, he disappeared.

Ren was still grinning. "I'll bet Ramon thought he had a heart attack." he remarked easily, drawing out his words with relish. Then he flicked his eyes in a gesture to look behind her, a different smile on his face. But he said nothing.

"I don't know, Darlin'. Your writin's still a li'l messy." drawled the deep baritone of Pop from behind her. He was grinning. He looked a little older, his hair completely white now, instead of being peppered with brown, as it had been when they were younger, and there were laugh lines around his eyes, making them stand out even more.

She quirked a brow at Ren when she was instructed to turn, then she heard the voice, his voice, and her breath hitched in her chest. Slowly she turned on her heel, her eyes now wider, a smile that hadn't existed before now creating dimples in both cheeks.

"I don't know Pop, I reckon your eyesight's going, what with you being old and all," a bit of a twang crept into her words as she drawled them just for him, though it was still very clear that she now had a dominant English accent. Barely an inhale after her words, and she was launching herself at him, much like she'd done to Ren earlier. Wrapping her arms around his neck it was like deja-vu as she buried her face into his shoulder, inhaling his scent, before her face drifted to his neck, where he'd feel the brush of damp lashes.

Rather suddenly, the image of a Mexican man standing in an office somewhat dumbfounded displayed itself across her eyelids. As the image became clearer, the features became familiar, Ramon. Her gasp was almost inaudible, and she opened her eyes, lashes once again brushing lightly against Pop's neck, the image of the man fading from her sight.
'Control' was her mental chiding as she began to take deep breaths, which meant the scent of Pop remained in her senses, meaning her elation didn't dim at all, though a second image didn't appear, nor did she hear a conversation on the wind.

Pop welcome Pix into a huge fatherly hug, holding her, and rocking her slowly. "My little Pixie Stix. How are you?" he petted her hair, not minding that she was probably getting his jacket wet. His own old eyes were full of tears. It was just an all around emotional day.

Ren stood back, watching with a grin. He was nearly bursting with his happiness with the situation. In his mind, this day couldn't get any better. Had he been a child, he probably would have been jumping up and down, but as it were, the only thing that showed his joy was the huge grin on his face.

"I'm fantastic now," she said softly, her head still on his shoulder. As she simply let herself be held, memories took her back to a similar time, though her tears had been of despair instead of joy over the death of her father. Taking a hand from where it grasped her own elbow, she wiped the traces of tears from her eyes, when done, she removed her other arm from around his neck, lifting her head from his person.

"How you are is the more important question. And Ramon, and the ranch, while we're on that thread of though," she said with a small smile. Though her gaze was focused on the man who still held her, she could see Ren from the corner of her eye, his face showing what she felt.

Pop smiled gentley at his adopted 'daughter'. He was so glad to have her back. "I'm fine honey." he said, using his little pet name for her. "And Ramon's fine too. We're gonna be around for years still." he added, his words telling that he knew exactly what she was wondering. "And as for the ranch? It's doing good, but it's definately missing it's best ranch hand." he glanced up at Ren.

Ren grinned slightly, knowing that Pop was serious, but kidding, since Pop had been the one to send him here, though it was his job to convince his parents about it. He still didn't say anything, allowing for Pop and Pix to have a good reuniting.

Pop rubbed his hand on Pix's cheek, removing the last of a left behind tear from her cheek gently.

As she did with Ren, Pix took the camera from it's resting position against the small of her back, raised it to her eye, and with a slight move of her finger captured Pop's image. Instead of letting the camera reclaim it's former position, she took a step back, made a jerking motion with her head at Ren. The movement was unnecessary to alert the pair that she wanted an image of the both of them, it was obvious since she was simply waiting with the camera resting on her shoulder. It was instead to notify Ren that she wanted him to move to where Pop was, since the image of the water behind the older man was at a better position than where his grandson was.
