Almost immediately upon the tears working up, Ferret's face fell back to a neutral, somewhat confused expression. She had been so sure that he was going to try and challenge her, but here he was running off in a panic. "What..?" She stared after the kid after he made it out the door, unsure what she was supposed to do in this situation.

Celeste's abrupt, firm voice calling her out made her jolt back to reality, a light growl rumbling from her throat while her teacher followed Carmin out into the hall. This was bullshit! She was just having a bit of fun and he had to have a meltdown. That wasn't her fault, right? Another student to her left gave her a bit of a side eye, causing her to shoot a glare straight back. All she could really do now was wait for them to come back.

Reflecting on what had just transpired, Carmin was full of regret and frustration. He kept getting shoved into difficult situations like this, it wasn't fair. But then at the same time he was upset with himself. The heat of the moment got to him and caused him to have a stupid outburst. He tried hard to contain it but ended up shamefully running away like a cry baby. He was just as angry with Ferret as he was with himself.

Wallowing in self pity, the weeping willow hadn't even noticed his teacher approaching. When he heard the voice, he winced, totally unprepared. Before lifting his head. He carefully brought one of his arms to his side, wiping away the tears before lifting his head.

He started slowly getting up, responding in a surprisingly fine voice. "I'm sorry, I'm fine." He wanted to forget it had ever happened and move on. He wasn't the type to talk about things like this, it was much easier to keep sweeping his feelings under the carpet.

Celeste wasn't fooled by Carmin's words. She had seen how he had fled from the classroom, and how sad and dejected he appeared moments before when he had been sitting there against the wall wiping away his tears.

"Are you sure you are okay? You don't look like you are fine," Celeste asked gently.

The way she insisted again made it clear that she knew something was up. It probably wasn't that hard of a thing to tell given the scene he'd made. Without opening up too much, Carmin gave a little more information. "I overreacted and ran away, I'll be okay now." His voice suggested he was disappointed in himself. Which was true.

He hated this softer scared little child that lived inside him. As much as he didn't want to get angry and start fighting, he would've much preferred that to this pitiful display. They were in the classroom, what could Ferret possibly have done to him?

"Alright," Celeste said, not believing for a second that he was okay, but not being able to do much more - at least for now. She had a class waiting, and who knew what Ferret had gotten up to while she was gone. The thought made her purse her lips together in a tiny frown.

"Well, let's get back to class. Everybody is probably done mixing their dough together," she explained as she glanced at the classroom door and back to Carmin. Celeste wanted to say more, but she had a feeling that he was not in a very receptive place at the moment.

The teacher's response meant that he was off the hook for the time being, but there were still things for Carmin to worry about. As soon as he got back through that door he was going to have to face Ferret again. He was barely surviving before, but now things were going to be even worse. He wasn't sure if he was supposed to still be angry with her or if he should be sorry for causing a scene like this. Sure, he hated her guts, but it made him feel icky inside knowing she might get in trouble for that. As far as Carmin cared, he wanted her to rot in detention for all her life, but he didn't want it to happen because he was acting like a baby.

Then there were all the other students in the class who'd seen that shameful act. He wanted nothing more than to start the class over or at the very least, go hide somewhere.

Finally, there was the failure of a pasta that they were supposed to be making. There was no telling what Ferret had done to it while they were gone. She'd already thrown an entire egg worth of shells in it, and that was just what he'd seen.

Even with all these worries, he nodded his head in agreement when the teacher suggested they head back.

The door wasn't too far, so before long he was walking back into the classroom. He bit the side of his mouth and walked back to his station with a face blushed entirely in a lighter shade of green. He tried his best to ignore the few stares and glances he'd received during his travels, making it over to where Ferret was. His eyes seemed to avoid looking directly at her, but he let out a sad "hey." It didn't look like she'd poisoned their food, so that was at least a plus.

In the brief time the two of them had been out in the hall, Ferret had been doing little beyond sulkily starting to pick out the shards of eggshell from their bowl. It was easier since it hadn't been mixed yet, and even though she didn't see the issue that the others in the class seemed to have with it, she at least had something to occupy herself.

Honestly, how was she supposed to expect the kid to react so badly to simple teasing? Just because he was small didn't automatically make him cowardly, which is something she knew well for herself. It irritated her that she was starting to feel a little bad about the whole ordeal; she still felt like she hadn't really done anything wrong, so it didn't make sense that she would care about Carmin.

Ferret inhaled slowly when she heard the two approaching the doorway again, making a point of not looking up at either of them as they came inside. The dragon simply huffed at her partner's mumbled greeting, setting asside the small pile of shell crumbles she'd dug out. "...Yeah. Hey." Normally she would have eaten the shell bits as well, but as of now she wasn't really feeling hungry anymore.

As Celeste reentered the classroom with Carmin, she couldn't help but glance furtively towards where Ferret was. She was hesitant to think about what the young woman might have got up to while she was in the hall with Carmin.

"Alright," Celeste said as she took her position once again at the front of the classroom. "Has everyone managed to make their ball of pasta? The dough should not be too overly tacky," she explained as she looked around the classroom, her gaze moving slowly from group to group to see if there were any problems or questions.

The awkward silence between the two enemies was broken when the teacher asked if everyone had completed a step that Carmin didn't even know existed. They must have been told to do that after he'd run away.

It didn't seem that Ferret had done it. They're bowl was still- "huh." Carmin was surprised to find that the egg shells were no longer a part of this dish. He hadn't even noticed before. Did Ferret dig them out? It seemed impossible, but at the same time, who else could it have been. He wasn't sure what to think, so he didn't say anything about it just yet.

Even if they were rid of the egg shell problem, they were still behind. Carmin wanted to let the teacher know that they were still behind, but he didn't want to bother her either. He let out a tiny "uh." Before promptly deciding not to say anything. They'd just have to be behind and try to catch up he supposed.

Ferret couldn't help but cross her arms and rumble out a quiet, decidedly angsty growl when Celeste asked if they had gotten as far as making the pasta ball. She squinted at Carmin's reserved attempt at getting the teacher's attention, then turned back towards the front. "No. I didn't do anything while you were out there. Can't read the fucking card."

Looking back down at the plant kid again for a moment, she furrowed her brow and tapped a claw on their workstation. "All I did was take out the shells and put in the other egg. Ate the last one cause we didn't need it. You wanted us to do this shit together, so...whatever. I'm following the stupid rules."
