Somehow, some way, by some sheer luck Ashton had found himself going on his first date. How...the hell does this even happen? HOW the hell does someone like him even get a date in the first place!? This was so baffling to Ashton he was even struggling to comprehend this in all ways, shape and form.

With a sigh, he double checked himself in the mirror. His hair was clean for a change, he looked well rested (although still tired) and his clothing was new and just in general he looked really cute.

He used two hair clips to keep his bangs out of his face, but it was still in a position where he could hide any bruising he needed to. In fact, he wore mostly long sleeves and long pants. His shirts were baggy enough to where it wouldn't hurt him either. But still...he looked cute.

Ashton and Eloise had agreed to meet down at the strip mall. Ashton hadn't actually been to any downtown scenes and set ups for a long time, and the hustle and bustle was almost a little unnerving and scary to him. But really, he could handle it. He'd get over it, he could do this!

He leaned against the wall outside of one of the stores, sending Eloise a quick message that he was waiting and where. Having been told he could get a cellphone from City Hall for free, it really saved him. So here he stood, waiting. His messenger bag over one of his shoulders. He felt kind of stupid, sitting there alone, just waiting.

Maybe this was a bad idea, maybe he should just tell him he wasn't feeling well and go back home. Maybe he was being baited, people seemed to like to do that to him. But he'd give it another few minutes before deciding. He hoped he hadn't been baited. He liked Eloise. He was charming, funny, handsome, sweet, and terribly interesting because the fact he was a pirate. This guy had one hell of an interesting life from what he gathered. And even if nothing romantically came from it he would hopefully be able to be friends still. Ashton would like that, having someone he could relate to and be comfortable with as a friend.

Eloise was getting used to this very human concept of 'dating'. It was a lot like courting, he gathered, but rewards potentially came after the date, not after dinner with the parents or a scandalous elopement at the middle of the night. Eloise was decidedly very good with dates! He didn't have much in the way of fancy things, but, really, he could take someone to a parking lot with nothing but a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of vodka, and they'd still have a great time. That was the sort of person he was. He let his personality do the talking.

Ashton mentioned liking bad boys, and luckily for him, that was the identity Eloise grew into in Manta Carlos. It was a natural transition from pirate to criminal punk, trading his trench coat for a much stylish leather jacket, band shirt, black jeans, and combat boots. Additionally, he had a fuzzy pastel pink scarf with kittens drawn all over it, but that just added to the irony of the whole thing. He parked his motorcycle at the parking lot and headed inside.

Ashton was cute, innocent-looking, tiny with giant eyes. He liked those types a hell lot. He walked up to him with a bright grin. "Heeeeey, kiddo, good to see ye. Glad ye didn't bail." He laughed, sliding up to him and wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "Whacha cravin', noodles, chicken, pizza? Oh, no noodles fer me, I've been eatin' 'em everyday fer the past week. Whuf."

Ashton jumped as the other came up to him and dear god he almost lit the poor guy on fire. "C-Careful there d-don't startle me..." he told him with a smile. But he did enjoy the physical contact.

Physical contact is something Ashton lives for, and hugs were his personal favorite. However when Eloise put his arm on his shoulder, he couldn't help but melt terribly but he did flinch. His shoulders were still somewhat on the sensitive side. But he'd get over it.

That outfit choice really sold the point as well. But then he saw the scarf. Oh god...he really liked it! It was so cute!

He looked up quickly when the other mentioned food. "O-Oh I'm fine with anything! S-Something decent would be nice cause I've been eating noodle cups for the past few days and I'm going crazy!" he said with a laugh. Then he thought....he knew what he wanted.

"Actually, I wanna go to a place that serves breakfast all day. Like...I got a crazy for some scrambled eggs and pancakes." When he finally reached up to tug on the ends of that scarf. "This is really cute, where did you get it?" he asked him.

Eloise only laughed at his nervous reaction. "Sorry! It's fine, I'm used ta gettin' set on fire, usually not by accident." He nudged him, snickering. It wasn't even a lie. Eloise was such an expert at ticking people off that he got set on fire in a semi-regular basis. Pyromancers! Bah!

"Mutually agreed. No noodles." He nodded, determined. "Breakfast food, ah? I think I might now a place. There's an all-ye-can eat place 'ere, but it's a bit pricey. M'fine with takin' the bill, though. There's alsooo a 24/7 diner just a few blocks from 'ere, way cheaper, but only if ye don't mind eatin' somewhere with a buncha shady drug dealers and gangsters!" He giggled. "Nah, they're cool. Don't make eye contact but they're cool."

Either way, he linked their arms together and started walking. He poked at the scarf. "This thing? I sold a buncha drugs ta a lady that sold scarves and accessories fer a livin'. She couldn't pay fer all of it, so I agreed ta barter summa the price fer cute scarves and mittens." He pulled out a bow hairclip with a hello kitty center and hovered it around Ashton's face. "This would look mighty cute on ye. Ye want it?"

That aside, he peered at his face. "So, Ash, how's the island so far? Treatin' ye good?"

Ashton smiled, feeling pretty thankful the other wasn't mad. He really needed to get a handle on these powers of his. Ashton hummed at the thought then nodded. "Lead the way then. I'm fine with either so it's all good. As long as we eat." he snickered. As they walked, arms linked, Ashton listened to the other explain the origin of the scarf.

"Aw, that was nice!" he said; a bad boy with a heart of gold how quaint! Of course when that little hair clip was introduced, he couldn't help but fawn over it.

"I...I totally want it." he whispered. He looked up then smiled at the other as he asked about his time on the island.

"It's...weird." he admitted. "It feels like home but...not? I don't know I've just been having all of these weird feelings about being here I guess. And I'm so out of touch with reality and with people. I actually screw up a lot when socializing because I'm used to socializing with possessed people, the mentally insane, or children around the age of 11 or 12? If that makes sense." he confessed with a sigh.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to make this conversation into a downer."

Eloise, despite saying he was fine with taking the bill, was a bit stingy, and shrugged. "Diner, then!" He led Ashton outside. "C'mon, it ain't far. We can take a ride on me motorcycle."

When Ashton said he wanted it, Eloise bent down to fix the hairclip into place. There you go. Very cute.

Eloise made a face as Ashton admitted his situation. On a conceptual, he fully understood that it was bad, but he didn't understand the dwelling on it part. It all seemed like a waste of time for him. He was somewhere better now. Wasn't that enough?

"Yeah, that's... I feel ye. Ol' habits, and all that. But why would ye even associate that shithole with home anyway? Make yer own home here. If ye carry that stuff around, yer just goin' ta be miserable forever." Once they were outside, he climbed on his motorcycle and offered the helmet to Ashton. "C'mon."
