Being dormant was a blessing. There was never peace of mind, even when outward symptoms weren't present but at least he wasn't gushing blood everywhere. It wasn't coming from his nose and eyes and ears, he wasn't coughing all over everybody, he felt a little feverish but that never truly went away. Today was, all things considered, a good day.
And a day, off too. The music festival falling on a day where his infection was dormant and a day he had off? Well, he felt on top of the world.
But he still had to be careful. William was weaving in and out of the crowd at the festival, his head lowered meekly and only raising it every once in a while to look at all the pretty lilacs that had gone into bloom. He'd been unable to attend the festival all the years prior because he just so happened to flare up those days. Even work wasn't as horrible to him as his own body, it seemed.
The streets buzzed with life, and William felt a little more alive himself. Even if the weather was warm and he was frigid as an icebox, at least he was surrounded by people who were enjoying themselves. He wasn't much too interested in the music competition, but he was getting a little peckish and decided to head over to the food stalls.
