The twins couldn't stop staring at the piece of paper that had just been handed to them by their sister Luna, who had arrived at the door to the small one bedroom apartment the twins had been sharing in the residential district. It was all typical enough at first; they exchanged warm hugs, It's so good to see yous, and how have you beens.

Then, with the simple gesture of reaching into her purse and pulling out a piece of paper, along with an ominous “Oh! Right! I have something to show you two!” and a bit of a mischievous grin, Luna managed to render her sisters entirely dumbfounded for a couple minutes.

Luna grabbed a desk chair from one of the twins' computer desks and wheeled it over, siting down across from the sofa they were sitting on and putting her feet up on the coffee table, grinning madly at the pair of them.

Finally, Rose broke the silence first.

“So mothers...bought you a storefront with an apartment above it?”

“Bought us! See? Your names are on it too!” Luna corrected Rose gleefully.

“A storefront with several rooms and extra space for a hydroponics setup. For us to sell the cannabis flowers I grow and provide healing to anyone who wants it. And an apartment three times as big as the one we're staying in with extra rooms, a balcony, and tiny backyard?” Azalea confusedly recited, still staring at the official-looking document which listed the three of them as owners of the building in question.

“Well see,” Luna began to explain matter-of-fact-ly, “the extra space and bedrooms are because moms know the magic number."

“Oh.” Azalea simply said.

“Right.” Rose finished, a knowing look crossing both their faces.

The “magic number” was, of course, a reference to the number of members of the Snowflower family congregating in any one area. As a general rule, if at least three Snowflowers start living somewhere together, more are bound to follow, according to the clan matriarchs' observations over their many years of experience raising a rather large family. Snowflowers were pack animals by nature; they might not all always live in the same place, but they did like to travel and settle in “clumps” if they could.

“Um...”
Azalea finally tore her eyes away from the document. “Why didn't you mention this over the phone before you came? All you said was 'can I stay at your place for awhile.'”

Luna's grin became so wide that if it grew any wider the top of her head seemed like it would just fall right off.

“Becauuuuuse, that would spoil the surprise! Besides, I knew you'd both say yes.”

The twins exchanged glances and knowing sighs before Rose responded, “Well, I'm tempted to be indignant now on principal but...yes, I do believe that was a correct assumption.”

“Well, I guess we've got packing to do. Or...not,” Azalea added, looking around at all the still-packed boxes of stuff the twins hadn't gotten around to yet. For the best, since they'd have plenty of other work ahead of them in cleaning up the place, applying for a license to sell cannabis, actually setting up the damn place, and oh right, still had to think of a name they could all agree on. The next few weeks were going to be busy....

[insert few-week time skip here]

On a street somewhere in downtown Manta Carlos City there was a modestly sized building with an apartment on top and storefront below, with an ornate wooden sign out front that read, in a swirling cursive script, “Three Flowers” and then below in smaller lettering, “cannabis shop and magical wellness center.” In the door was a piece of paper that read “ask about magical healing free of charge!”

A pair of hanging flowerpots ornamented the underside of the awning outside the storefront, framing the door in long flowering vines. In the window by the door was a standard “open” and “closed” flip sign next to a chart showing what would be their normal business hours, which started in the afternoon and extended well past sunset so that they could service both diurnal and nocturnal customers.

Inside the shop, through an indoor trellis with moonflower (ipomoea alba) vines just beginning to creep across the sides, there was a lobby that was entirely chock full of potted plants. They were all clean, neatly tended and arranged in a way pleasing to the eye, but they were everywhere; pots along the walls, in the windowsill, the counter, and so on, many of them with vibrant flowers in all colors imaginable.

The room itself had wooden flooring and the counter-top was a dark gray granite. There were doors on either side of the room, one labeled “wellness center” on the right, and on the left, “cannabis shop.” There was also a door behind the counter marked “employees only.” Against the left wall there was a stone water fountain made to look like a tiny babbling brooklet. There were a few wooden padded chairs sitting around the lobby and soft harp music was playing on low volume throughout the room.

Behind the lobby counter stood three eager, anxious, and excited elves who, at the very present moment, were all looking at each other with expressions that conveyed “what next?”

“The plants are set up in the hydroponics room and I've got all the cured buds packaged and ready for sale...” Azalea said, thinking aloud.

“The signs are all put up, the products on display and the initial inventory taken...” Rose recounted.

“And the rooms are all ready on the wellness center side in case we actually get any patients.” Luna added, with a note of finality.

“So...we all ready?” Azalea asked while looking questioningly at the other two.

There was a pause as neither answered her for a few moments. Then Luna's face lit up and she exclaimed, “Duh! We need to unlock the door and flip the sign to open or people won't know we're ready for them.”

Luna shook her head in disbelief of their collective oversight, and walked around the counter, unlocked the door, and put one hand on the sign. She paused, took a breath, and flipped it around so that the “open” side was facing out the window. Then she faced the twins and beamed, declaring “Open for business!”

Aaron would soon slip into the store, a cloak like hood that she would push off, her nose twitching a bit as it picked up the different scents, hee red eyes looking over everything. It was a nice shop, new, she was enjoying the different scents in the air, there were things in here she couldn't really buy, and some things wouldn't work with her biology, but looking never hurt.

She'd flash a smile at the elven girl, humming just a bit as she stepped a little further into the shop. "Hello there," she'd say in a friendly, bright tone, "it's always nice seeing new shops opening up." Her nose would twitch again, it was nice picking up scents that were genuinely natural in one of these stores.

Tilting her head she'd smile, "I'm Aaron," her red eyes were bright and friendly, "you're shop looks great"

All three sisters were ecstatic to receive their first customer. For just a moment, they all looked at one another as if wondering who should speak first. After exchanging looks, the twins stayed at the counter and Luna walked around it, speaking as she closed the distance between her and the newcomer.

"Luna Snowflower." Luna smiled as she spoke, a genuine and excited smile. "And the twins over there are my sisters Rose and Azalea. And thank you! We've all been working our collective arses off trying to get it ready to open."

Luna then sort of awkwardly stood there for a couple seconds, before a loud throat-clearing sound from Rose reminded her she'd forgotten something.

"Oh Right! Welcome to Three Flowers! How may we help you?"

"It's a pleasure to meet all three of you," she'd say with a bright smile, her black hair hanging around her, "and your hard work shows." Her nose would continued to twitch as it picked up the pleasant smells of the store, it very much came off as fully natural.

She'd tilt her head and hum a bit, looking at Luna, "I have to admit, I didn't have any particular remedy in mind when I came in." The demonic vampire would tap her chin, "that said there could be something you could help me with hun," she'd say with a slightly playful grin.

Aaron would step over to her, "I could use something to quicken the speed burns heal, something that won't be blocked by a healing factor." She'd chuckle, "you see, I'm a vampire, or half at least, so unfortunately me and the sun don't get along," sun burns happened very fast, "but at the same time my healing factor often makes healing drugs rather non-affective, so perhaps something more natural would work better."

Pushing open the door to the flower shop, Zoraida immediately smelled the earthy freshness of potting soil and cut flowers all around her. It was a comforting smell actually, and she smiled as she browsed the shop, noticing that there was already a person being attended to, and decided to wait. Besides, it gave her a chance to see what plants the shop offered.

Zora had come down today to inquire about having some different plants delivered to her offices. She also hoped to have fresh cut flowers sent to her home on a bi-weekly basis. She loved flowers and made sure, when she could, that there were always a bouquet or two around the house - either in the living room, kitchen or both.

Luna nodded and listened to Aaron attentively.

"Weeell, if you were hoping for a magical products, potions or the like, we actually don't have much of those, beyond a modest selection our mothers sent us to give out as accompaniments to particular healing treatments we provide directly with our own magic here in house. That said, something does come to mind that might just be able to help. We have a product made from extracts Azalea takes from all her carefully tended greenery; it's a salve you apply directly to an affected area, great for aches, pains, and in fact, burns as well."

Luna ducked behind the counter briefly and returned holding a tiny, corked class vial with a greenish-white substance in it. "In fact we have a sample right here if you want to take a look. It's made primarily from peppermint, aloe vera, and cannabis extracts; the peppermint oil gives a comforting tingly sensation while the THC and CBD from the cannabis relieves any pain and promotes gradual healing without actually having any intoxicating effects since it's applied topically. As for the Aloe, that particular plant is practically famous for its use treating burns and sunburns. That said, it's certainly not a panacea and wont cause instant healing of the burns. If you ever do get badly burned though we do take walk-ins for free healing. Both my sister and I can remove a burn pretty quickly with our magic, and the salve should provide pain relief and more gradual healing that might suit your needs."

Luna uncorked the vial and removed a small dab of the substance with her index finger, the intoxicating aroma of peppermint practically leaping into the air when the cork was removed. Luna held out her finger with the dab of balm on it. "You can go ahead and put a tiny bit on your skin and see if you like the feel."

Zora was just admiring some lovely tiger lilies, that were actually in pots and not just freshly cut waiting to be placed in a bouquet like in many other flower shops when she heard a welcoming voice behind her.

Turning around, she saw it was two of the girls from the counter and immediately assumed they worked there. Smiling warmly at the welcoming introduction, Zoraida noticed then that they looked alike, twins - the only difference was the coloured stripes running through their long brown hair.

"Hello, Azalea, Rose..." Zoraida said with a tiny nod acknowledging the other sister too, "I'm actually looking for some office plants, and possibly cut flowers or even bouquets. " she explained, "Maybe you can suggest some plants?"

Azalea's face lit up with excitement as Rose smiled and politely excused herself.

"That's definitely more my sister's area of expertise, so I'll let her see to your needs, I do hope you have a lovely day." Rose turned and wandered behind the counter, slipping into the door behind it marked 'employees only' for a moment, returning with one of those little call-bells (like this) and an index card folded in half to make a sign. She set the bell on the counter and propped up the sign next to it, which read 'in the back, please ring for assistance!' and disappeared through the door again.

Meanwhile, Azalea enthusiastically started making suggestions.

"I can definitely help you there. Over here we have a variety of tropical plants and a few others that can survive just fine on fluorescent lighting alone if they have to, though you have even more options if you've got a window open for a little natural light. Why don't you tell me what the space is like? And are you looking or any specific medicinal plants, or is this all for aesthetic sprucing up?"

As she spoke, Azalea led Zora over to some shelves against the front wall where there were a variety of indoor-suited plants of myriad shapes and sizes, including ferns, umbrella plants, ficus trees both tiny and as tall as Zora, and a variety of tropical plants in a number of interesting colors.

"I can also sell you some of the same light bulbs we use in here" she continued, pointing up to the light fixtures in the ceiling. "That will expand your options greatly. They give out full spectrum lighting minus the ultraviolet bit of the spectrum, meaning its everything the plant needs from sunlight without the skin damage"

Zora nodded politely as Rose excused herself and left. She then turned her full attention to Azalea, who seemed more than willing to help her out. Following her through the store Zora smiled, "Well, I don't know how to explain it too well." Zora said, trying to think of how to describe them to Azalea without it sounding like "it's an office with big windows."

"Let's see... The offices are all fairly large, tall ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, hardwood floors, warm walls, oh, some exposed brick... I believe it might have been a converted warehouse or factory," she said as she considered the space. She had fallen in love with the offices because they all had such wonderful light; she had not really thought about what the space might have been before she acquired it.

"You may have seen it?" she said as she named a popular address near the Ocean Park district.

"Oh, and definitely beautifying, but also calming too...oh, and made something that's herbal too?" she remarked thoughtfully, not exactly knowing whether there was anything like that or not.

And when Azalea asked about the lighting, Zora shook her head, she had no idea there was this much that went into buying plants. "I don't know. I think they are just normal fixtures that come with an office, although, with such high ceilings... Maybe, I should call my office manager to find out?" she said rather unsure, looking at Azalea for guidance and whether or not she should call her office to ask about what type of lights they used.

"Oh dear, I'm giving too much information, aren't I." Azalea looked down slightly and visibly blushed a little. "I must confess, I have...no idea what I'm doing. None of us do. We just opened the shop for the first time and we're kind of making it up as we go along."

Azalea shifted her weight awkwardly, clearly embarrassed. "But um...with floor to ceiling windows you don't need to worry about lighting too much. Do you like peppermint? It's normally not an indoor plant, but with windows like that, especially if they get plenty of sun, you could probably have some growing there in pots. When it blooms the mint blossoms will fill your office with the smell of mint, and it's quite hardy as long as you water it lots. And um...these would also make good low-maintenance options that would be pretty. Oh and you really don't need to call your office, the windows sound more than sufficient."

Azalea pointed out a couple fuzzy ferns, a white cyclamen plant, and several tropical looking houseplants, pulling down her recommendations from the shelves and starting a cluster of potted plants being recommended. This time Azalea was making sure not to go too fast, and only recommended a handful of plants so as not to be overwhelming, though her body language still clearly indicated embarrassment.
