Oh, wow! It was really nice outside! Sabriel usually stayed inside in his room, doing work or just staying away from everyone else, but now that the weather was warmer he felt compelled to leave the building. Adorned in only a pair of worn out jeans and a plain black T-shirt, with sandals on his feet, he made his way toward the garden, humming softly to himself. There was a slight bounce to his step for once, but he wasn't quite sure as to why that was. Sabriel wouldn't dare say anything against it, though; for once he was happy and he just prayed nothing would change that.

Spinning in a circle, Sabriel laughed before jogging the rest of the way to the garden. The grass didn't snap beneath his weight as he ran, merely bent only to stick back up straightly. He had always loved spring! He loved the way the trees looked while they were coming back to life but weren't quite there yet, the way the flowers popped up out of the ground and were so tiny still, and the way refreshing scent in the air. After how dead everything was in the winter it was a welcome change for the few weeks spring remained until it at last melted into summer.

Sabriel's pace slowed once he got to his destination and a wide, childish grin spread across his face. A gentle breeze pulled at his black hair and he pressed his cat-like ears against his head in response to it with a light giggle. Once again he spun in a circle before finally feeling contented, closing his golden eyes for a few moments.

When he reopened his eyes, he was somewhat surprised that many of the flowers had already grown to perhaps their full potential. Weren't they supposed to be babies still? Sabriel cocked his head to the side and walked toward a patch of tulips, plopping down on his bottom in front of them and merely looking at them.

"You're all very pretty!" he exclaimed finally, reaching his arms around them gently so he wouldn't break them as he gave them a hug. "Keep it up! I'm very proud of you all for growing so big!" Sabriel removed his arms from them and patted one of the tulips at the top of its petals as if it were its head before placing his hands on the ground to push himself up. "They grow up so fast."

He continued walking along the stone path, humming quietly again. It was so beautiful and tranquil here; he could have stayed here for hours. Once his knees started hurting from all the walking and spinning he had done, Sabriel spun in one last half circle and allowed himself to fall backward onto a patch of grass that near lilies and daffodils.

"Sorry if I hurt you guys. I don't think I did, did I?" he asked, propping himself up on his elbows. He checked the flowers to make sure he hadn't broken their steps or disturbed their blooms and nodded. "Knew it! You guys are the best." With that said Sabriel fell back on the grass and closed his eyes, folding his hands on his stomach and allowing himself to become comfortable. His legs were bent at the knee and his cat-tail swished back and forth.

Awww reading was hard! Daniel had been training his reading for some days now and it was slowly starting to get much better then before. He could read slowly now, but it was easier for him to read alone in his head, when he tried to read out loud he often said wrong at many words and made some things sound really off, but Selia had been very nice to him and corrected the boy without talking much about it after. Daniel had not been thinking much about his father and mother lately, he was more happy now then he had ever been before in years. It was all thanks to the fact that he came to this place, but one thing still was a large problem to him, he did not have any powers at all! Nothing, not even a little one. He did not dare tell that to anyone at all since he was afraid they might throw him out if they knew about it.

The last days Daniel had often gone to the garden in order to practice his loud reading since not so many came here at this time of the day because of the classes, and when they had break most of them did not come to this part of the school anyway. He had taken a blanket from the room he shared with Selia in the girls dorm and placed it on a nice spot with many flowers around him, he liked flowers and they where nice company, since they listened to him reading but did not comment if he said anything wrong. The little boy sat with his legs crossed under himself and a book in his knee, it was the book about Winnie the pooh, Daniel loved that book most of all but he had not yet finished reading all of it since Selia began to teach him how to read.

He did not notice Sabriel when the boy came to the garden since the little boy was busy trying to think what a weird word was and how he would say it out loud. He tried to hear the word inside of his head but failed to do so and sighed a little before he started over with the page again, he was reading slowly out loud from the book, but he had to stop a little now and then in the reading when he lost how to say the word. He was a little sad that he was not better then this....he was soon going to turn seven years old....many around his age could read already and he could not...but he was going to get better. In fact he did not really notice that there might be someone else in the garden that heard him practice the reading part.

Carta walked into the garden out of pure boredom if anything else. Though he might as well enjoy the scenery, not like it was bad. He smelled the scent of the different plantgrowth around as he walked, his pushed his glasses up a bit as they were sliding down his nose a bit. He should get them fitted again and get a different pair, did his head get smaller or anything? Nah, probably just go bent a bit on the side when he dropped them last week. Luckily they didn't get stepped on.

He then heard someone talking and looked up. Some other kid, maybe a bit older than himself. He was talking to the flowers, "Che è questo?" Carta said to himself as he watched the kid talk and somewhat hug the flowers. It was getting odder by the minute. Maybe he could talk to plants or something? Or maybe he was just a weirdo. Nonetheless, Carta thought of something that may throw him off. He took two pieces of paper from his belt and shaped them into the shape of a rose. Some build up at the bottom, he went up behind the Kid and, though didn't really try to hide himself or anything just made it look like he was planting a normal flower.

As he crotched down he put the build up of paper on the dirt as it started to turn into roots and dig into the ground like a normal flower. He stepped back when finished and walked away a few feet and only watched to see if anything would happen, though made it look like he was watching the flower.

Out of instinctive reaction, Sabriel's eyes shot open when he heard someone walking up behind him. He relaxed though when he saw the boy, deciding it didn't really matter for now. For the time being he heard someone else a bit further away from them, which caused his ears to twitch in the direction of the words. It sounded like someone was reading - and something really cute, for that matter! He sat up, able to see the little boy now but still not able to tell what he was reading."Wha--" He cut himself off from calling out when the boy next to him planted something in the ground.

Sabe's attention shifted from the little boy now to the flowers near him. His head cocked to the side and his ears twitched. There were too many stimuli; he didn't know what to react to first! There were people, there was noise. He felt like a confused pet in a new home. This was the first time he'd been around this much in... in... how long had it been? He didn't even know when he'd been able to manage being around two people at once.

Then it clicked in his brain that this flower was different from the rest. It was white and made somewhat differently than the others. It was still smooth, but there was just something about it that made it not seem real. But it had to be real! It wouldn't be here if it was fake. "Wow," he said in a hushed tone, looking up at Carta. "Is that like..." He gasped and put a hand over his mouth, as if he really only fully understood now. Without checking his volume, he continued, "It's an albino flower, isn't it?! Wow! Where did you find this?! It was so good of you to put this back where it belongs. Oh it's so pretty." He reached out and pet it lightly before withdrawing his hand, still absolutely amazed by it.

Daniel was very surprised when he suddenly heard a voice that started to talk and this made him stop his reading and quickly look up. He noticed Sabriel as the boy was close to him and the kid blushed extremely much at this little notice. Someone had seen him and heard him make a fool out of himself?! He opened his mouth but then he noticed that some other guy came and that the first person turned towards him instead. Daniel did not at all like this and it was not hard to tell that the boy was even more nervous then what Sabriel was about to much people around him. He had phobia for to much people since that had always ended with him geting wounded. He was still very jumpy when around grown ups, even if these two where not more then kids to they where still close to grown ups in the eyes of the little boy that was only 6, soon 7.

He quickly got to his feet and looked at the other two for a moment. "I am sorry! I did not mean to be loud or anything....I....I will go...sorry...but do not...I mean...nothing!" he said quickly and then he picked up the blanket from the ground and began to walk away, but in the hurry he left the book of Winnie the pooh on the ground.

Carta put his hands in his pockets and suddenly wished he had a hoodie, he missed having a front pocket, he might as well go get one when he had the chance. Still, not like he would need it soon, spring was arriving and he was a bit surprised that the garden is already living like this. He then blinked and turned back to watching the kid there and he had just stood up and looked at something else. Carta looked over his shoulder and saw a young child there. He didn't notice him before.

Then the boy in front of his seemed to gasp at noticing the Paper flower he planted. He couldn't have been that stupid to think it was an actual flower, was he? He'd probably figure out it was paper in a moment or tw... no, he was stupid. An Albino Flower? First he heard of something of the sort.

Carta blinked again, not wanting for make the kid think that he had guessed wrong, though not wanting to lie either. "Eh, I guess it's that... and I found it... sorta somewhere. In another room of the school. I saw you enjoying the flowers so I thought I'd put it in here." He said scratching the back side of his head. He smiled and sat down on the grass and looked at the flower then to the boy. "So, uh, what's your name?" He said as the other small kid behind him started to talk about being loud then started to leave. Carta barely noticed that he left his book on the ground. If he did he would've done something about it.

Sabriel looked up at Carta, that silly grin still plastered on his face. That was so nice of him! No one brought him flowers, even if it was just to put in the garden and not really for him. It was still the thought that counted! "That was really kind of you," he said. "I've never seen an albino flower in real life for you. I mean, I've heard about them, but didn't really think it was real. Well I was wrong!"

His heart swelled when Carta sat on the grass with him. No one ever sat on the grass with him, either! Today was his lucky day! Was he making — had he made — was it possible?! A friend?! Sabriel almost felt nervous. He couldn't remember the last time he had had a friend. "My name is Sabriel," he said. "But you can call me Sabe! Or anything you want, really! What's your name?"

It was at the draw of his statement that he heard the little boy from before call over to them. Sabriel's head turned to him immediately, his ears sticking up straightly upon his head. He was surprised by what the boy said and blinked, his golden gaze shifting back to Carta before he stood up. He jogged over to where Daniel had been, having noticed the book laying there. "Wait a second!" he called, leaning over and picking up the book. "Hey, you forgot this!" He held the book in one hand, held toward toward Daniel to take. "You don't have to go, you know! We're not gonna hurt you."

There was something about those scared words and the jittery countenance that made Sabriel bite the inside of his lip. What did that remind him of? He couldn't exactly recall.

Oh well.

Daniel stopped walking as he heard the voice behind him, the little boy slowly turned back and noticed that Sabriel stood there right behind. He also noticed that Sabriel was holding the book. Oh he had forogten it? Daniel blushed a little more and then he accepted the book that was given to him. "Thanks" he said lowly and forced himself to smile a little.

He listened to what Sabriel said that he did not have to leave and that they where not going to hurt him. Daniel looked at the older boy for a moment and he looked at his eyes, yeah he did not at all seem like a mean person. It was clear that Daniel began to calm down a little now as he did not try to get away and the same unsure look was starting to go away from inside of his eyes. "I guess I could stay, I mean.....if you do not mind and all..." he said to him and placed the book under one arm again. "I was just....practicing"

Daniel then thought for a moment before he remembered something. "Oh, my name is Daniel. But people sometimes call me well anything. I have had many nicknamest." he frowned a little again and scratched himself in the back of the head, he was thinking of the different names he had gotten from his father. He never called Daniel Daniel, he was either kid, boy or just simply brat. Well he was out of the picture. The boy then examined Sabriel for a moment. "So what´s your names?" he was talking to the other stranger to actually since he was also close to them.

Carta was going to tell him his name and try and somehow say that the flower wasn't a real flower... he seemed overly excited about it and he didn't want him to figure out that he had been lying to him about it and for him to get down about about, but before he had time to say anything Sabe got up at the leaving kid and grabbed something off of the ground. Carta saw the book and then realized what the problem was. That would've sucked, leaving something behind like that, he wouldn't like to do the same.

Too bad he didn't notice it either, might've made his ignorance less awkward, he stood up and followed Sabe as they finished talking. The kid looked quite young, why was he at this school again? Oh well, it didn't matter to him that much, he's seen a lot that's weird.

He pointed at himself, lifting his hand from his poke. His finger was pointed at his face from below and his face looked like a confused Carta for a second before nodding. Well, he had to tell them both anyways. "I'm Carta." He said mellowly and held his curious look at both of them. Things either got confusing for him or he was just surprised so many people cared about his name.

Sabriel grinned when Daniel accepted the book. That looked like a good sign, at least! Oooh, maybe he'd be friends with him too! "You're welcome!" he beamed, tilting his head to the side and lowering his hands to fold them behind his back just above his tail once the boy had taken the book from him. Once the boy began to calm down, Sabriel felt more at ease, but he was still sad that he seemed so uncertain.

"Aww, we don't bite," he said, lifting a hand in front of his mouth for emphasis. "We don't mind, either! Practicing is good, don't be ashamed." He still couldn't quite place where he'd seen those sort of anxious eyes, and it bothered him greatly. Who had he seen with that same look constantly in their eyes? This was going to eat away at him until he remembered, and he had a feeling he wouldn't. His cheerfulness seemed to abate somewhat with that, only to be perked right back up when the kid introduced himself.

"I'm Sabriel," he said again. "But Sabe is okay." When Carta spoke up, Sabriel turned to look at him and his grin returned tenfold, to the point where his eyes seemed to be smiling as well. Sabriel threw his arms around Carta's side, giving him a somewhat awkward hug and then resting his head on his shoulder. "Carta's my new best friend, Daniel!"

With that said, the cat-eared teenager released Carta as if nothing even vaguely awkward had happened and swayed from side to side. "You look awfully young to be at this kind of a place, Danny-boy. Where are your parents?" He looked around, expecting them to be nearby, only to not see them and look back to his two new friends with a puzzled expression.
