Daniel looked at Sabriel when he talked and acted all nice, this stranger was really nice and he seemed very friendly actually. So that was a great bonus and all that. He listened to the words that they did not bite and did not minde either. Daniel nodded slowly to show that he got it. "Okey, I guess training is good" he said with a thoughtful voice and a smile that was friendly but still unsure, Sabriel was very nice but he was also rather weird with those ears and that tail, but it was also rather cool actually since he looked like something from a storybook.

He nodded as Sabriel told his name and Daniel made sure to remember that name for later. He then looked at the other boy when he came over to them and he watched Sabriel give him a hug and all that, the boy nodded again. "Nice to meet you" he greeted slowly, then he made a pause as he thought. "Must be nice to have a best friend, I only have Lezlo" as he said this he made a gesture to the teddy that was visible from his backpack. Lezlo was the only one that Daniel had called friend since none of the other kids wanted to play with the odd boy with the weird parents and the way to be afraid of anything. He had often been jealous at the other kids because they had so much fun...and he had never played any fun things like hide and seek, or tag or anything.

Then it came! Sabriel dropped the bomb and Daniel looked at him for a moment, then to the other boy and then to Sabriel. He had to say something...but he could not tell them everything...Charlie had told him not to talk to much...he lowered his eyes and tried to forced something that sounded good out from his mind. "They are not here" he said lowly and then he looked back up at the boy with the cat ears. "I mean....not here here, that is...I mean they are." the boy was not very good at lying and one could tell something was wrong, very wrong since his eyes searched around a little and the unsure look was back again in his eyes....more then before. "....."

Carta looked at the two curiously for a moment before Sabe turned to him. He only looked as he seemed to randomly hug him. Carta was taken off guard by this and raised one of his hands though lowered it. He seemed to only be able to stare at Sabe's head as he hugged him then let go. Carta blushed slightly at the awkwardness that came up from the situation. Good thing the only other person around was the like seven or eight year old. His name was Daniel, well that was all fun and all.

Carta tried to focus on what just happened. Sabe just hugged him, then called him his new best friend. He collected everything and Sabe started to talk to Daniel. He tried to wonder why this kid was calling him best friend and they had only known each other for about a minute or two. It was quite odd.

He then took too looking at Sabe again. He was an inch shorter than him, but barely though. He had cat ears and a tail, he noticed earlier but didn't pay much mind to it. He had seen weirder around this school. He moved behind Sabe and put his index finger and thumb around both of them, one per hand. He moved them back and forth gently but basically implying a point. "When did we become Best Friends?" He asked questionically, though expecting an obvious answer he played with his ears feeling them. Yeah, they were real. Still, how people grew such things was a mystery to him.

About making the point, it was mostly to Daniel if anyone, he didn't mind if Sabe thought of him like that. Though he paid half attention to the child as he tried to focus on everything. He had a teddy and then when he was talking Carta let go of Sabe and looked at the boy as he said his parents weren't here. He understood, assumingly and under a guess though. He didn't speak up about it though.

It was slowly starting to fall into place. All he had was a teddy bear... a lonesome animal whom he could hug, snuggle with, and share all his secrets. Sabriel's features softened and he looked away for a moment, a distant look in his eyes and a somewhat warm smile starting to creep onto his face. He could see in his mind who it reminded him of, but a name still escaped him. Sabriel merely looked back to Daniel, reaching out to ruffle his hair with a sickly pale hand.

"Teddies make wonderful friends," he said. "Don't be sad to only have Lezlo. You'll make friends, you're bound to here!" Granted, Sabriel had been here for more than a year and didn't have a single friend to his name. Well, except Carta now, and they were going to be best friends forever!

His ears twitched suddenly and he tried to turn his head, feeling something at the base of each of his ears. When Carta began to move his fingers around Sabe's ears, the teenager closed his eyes and almost started purring. A fuzzy feeling filled his stomach and he tilted his head upward somewhat, his tail swishing back and forth in delight. As Carta continued though, Sabriel began to giggle, writhing a little in his grip. "Eeeee, that tickles!" he squealed, although he made no effort to move away even though he easily could have. This was best friend bonding time, he wasn't going to stop it! "And we became best friends when you were nice to me," he said through his giggles, opening his eyes.

He could see that Daniel was even more uncomfortable now. Sabriel pulled his head away from Carta's hands and looked at Daniel, not believing him at all. All at once, it hit him; the uneasiness, the anxiety, having no friend but a teddy bear. It reminded Sabriel of himself.

His upper lip curled into his mouth and his face fell again. He shouldn't have brought up parents; he hated thinking of them. "H-Hey, mine aren't here either," he said, his voice quivering a little. He hated talking about his family relations, and family relations in general. How could he have been such a fool to say something?

Oh no. Oh no, they wouldn't be friends with him anymore if he did something bad. No, he couldn't ruin his shot! The first people that had taken a liking to him in so long... he'd be a failure if he ruined this. Sabriel began to panic, and his golden eyes showed it. There were times when he hated how lucid his eyes were, and how they could petrify people when he became like this.

"Er, so," he began, trying to salvage things despite the growing nausea. "W-We should play a game! Yeah, let's play a game, guys!" Sabriel forced nervous laughter.

Please don't hate me.

Daniel listened to Sabriel as he talked and the boy nodded slowly, but he was not all that sure about it really. He smiled to show Sabriel that the words he said was of a good nature and that Daniel liked them. "Yeah, your right and I might have made some best friends already." he smiled and this time it was a genuin happy smile. He then watched the two of them as the boy Carta played with Sabriels ears and once again Daniel was a little jealous of them, he also wanted a friend like that. He really did want friends like that but he never ever had a single one before so how would he know.

Daniel noticed that something was wrong and that Sabriel was acting all weird....he did not want that?! He did not want the first person he though to call best friend to be like that. He could not lie and he had to tell the truth.. he slowly walked over to Sabriel and stopped right in front of the older boy and looked up into his face. Daniel then stretched out and gave the boy a hug."Do not be like that Sabriel....please.." he said lowly. "I will tell the truth if you do not hate me for it...." he made a pause and then he continued. "My parents are not here because I ran away, dad always told me how useless I was and he often used to hurt me as he said I was not worth anything." the boy had his face buried in the boys clothes but it was still possible to hear him as he talked. "I could often not sleep at night because if hurt to much everywhere, and also I never knew when he could get some idea and wanted me to do something and if I was not fast enough he would...." the boy stopped talking and sighed a little. "I do not want to go back, so please do not tell....I do not want dad to find me....he will hurt me as when I tried to run away the first time! and he said that if I ever tried to run away again he would kill me....please do not hate me."

he looked up at Sabriel and looked the boy into the eyes, he then heard what Sabriel said about playing something and that made him feel a little better and he nodded slowly. Yeah could be nice to play something.

((ooc: Kemi's going next, he just wanted me to post first.))

Sabriel's arms flew up when Daniel walked toward him and wrapped arms around him. He froze, looking down at Daniel with a terrified expression on his face. Why was he so close? Why was he saying there was a truth to tell suddenly? Panicking, Sabriel began to look around; there had to be a way to get out of this. There had to be a way to get out of this awkward, frightening situation! "Wh-what? Hey, listen, I-I..." he stopped though, feeling his throat closing up. He looked at Carta before quickly looking back to the child who was clinging to him. He desperately wanted Daniel to release him. He had to leave them before things got worse.

"... Dad always told me how useless... hurt me... not worth anything... couldn't sleep... do not tell... please do not hate me."

His chest began to heave as his breathing rate sped up. His heart was pounding in his tiny chest and he clenched his eyes shut, squeezing his hands over his face and pressing his ears against his head. His tail coiled tightly and he began to shake his head. Dammit, no, he didn't need this, not now! He was trying to make friends... hell, he'd made friends! And the memories sparked to life... memories of her silken voice; of her melodic, malevolent laughter; of her twisted smile and blood stained lips; of her long fingers tilting his chin up so he would meet her hating eyes.

Nice going Sabe.

Better luck next time, kiddo!

This is hilarious, the kid can't even keep a friend for five minutes.

"L-Listen, Daniel," he began. "I won't tell anyone, I swear. But I have to go. I have to get out of here myself, so I'll s-see you later, okay? Be a good boy, okay?" He gently pried Daniel's arms from around him. "Carta... I-I'll see you later, or something. Okay? Uh... I..." He took a deep breath and swallowed, turning. "I need my meds..."

Carta could only watch as Sabe started to look uncomfortable and speak with a bit of stuttering in it. He didn't know what was wrong, it had to involve the mentioning of parents not being here. He was only left to guess at what they were thikning. He didn't understand and soon only watched, he rubbed his fingers together after having had to let go of Sabe's ears. They felt a bit weird, more like a real cat. He also liked it a bit apparently, though everything was now changing.

Still, he reflected on what he said about best friends. When he was nice to him? That could only leave to question how many friends Sabe actually had. Was he the only one that had been nice to Sabe in this long time? He couldn't be sure, but it sure seemed like it and he would have to ask when he had the chance. With nervous laughter now, he suggested they should play a game. Not with how uncomfortable with everything Sabe seemed.

Then Daniel was talking about his family and why he ran away from home. That seemed to have come out of nowhere and he didn't understand why Dan was going on about this besides to get it all out. He watched as Sabe seemd even more nervous about all of the things happening and started to turn away and head off saying he'd see him later. Carta only blinked before turning to go in his own direction. "Ya, I won't tell either Daniel. Don't worry about it." He said this as he took off, he was going to follow Sabe but go his own way first.

Daniel was really confused, did things get worse when he told the truth! He looked after Sabriel as he began to leave....what did he do wrong this time? He looked at Carta when he talked to and frowned a little as he looked after the other boy. They both left...and Daniel felt so bad about it to. Then he got an idea and quickly ran after Sabriel. "Sabriel, wait....I have something for you!" he shouted and ran as fast as he could around the boy and stopped in front of him before he had gone away to far.

Daniel looked up at him and then he stretched out a hand and gave Sabriel the book with Winnie the Pooh. "Here take this book, I do not know why you got upset and all that but to be it always helps to read about the adventures of Winnie the Pooh." he smiled a little, he was not going to accept a no and forced the book in the hand of the older boy. "Y-y-you can give it back to me later when you done with it, this is my favorite book, and it will make you happy because" he thought for a moment. "Sabriel can I be your best friend to? Because I do not have any friends and you are nice, I like you." he smiled a little and looked at the book that was now in Sabriels hand, then the eyes turned up to his face. "Well I will be seeing you around then, and no worries I promise to be a good boy as you wanted. Next time lets play something fun!" he got a bright smile on his face and then he ran away across the yard, he turned back at Sabriel after a few yards and waved at him. "Sabriel....your cool!" he shouted and then he was gone a moment later.
