On the shore

Ian walked down the shore and watched as the water came in....then out....then in....and out again. There were a few seagulls flying around and a few landed on the beach. Ian sat on the sand and ran his hands through it as he looked at the water. The setting sun cast a wavy reflection on it.

There was a light breeze blowing, and it wasn't too cold out.

Adelina looked down at the sand, kicking it now and then. She had tied her red hair into a bun before she left the school so her hair wouldn't be in her face and become nothing but knots.

She looked up from the sand and looked around. There was a boy sitting down. Not wanting to walk around in silence (especially now that she knew there was someone there to talk to), she walked toward him, and sat down on the sand next to him.

"Hello," she said with a smile. "I'm Adelina."

Ian turned to the girl who had just sat down next to him. "Hello." he said, "I'm Ian." he smiled back and moved his bangs out of his eyes, but the breeze just blew them back.

"Yes, I am new here." Ian said as he shoved his hands deep into the sand and then pulled them out letting the sand go in between his fingers.

"Well from what I have seen so far, it is a really nice place." Ian continued to bury his hands in the sand. "Hm, yeah." he said as he pulled his hands from the sand again and let the sand run through.

"yeah, I haven't had all that much to do since getting here." he said, "I did go to the dance for a little bit, but I spent most of the time just sitting there, so i left." he shrugged, "Your the second person who has talked to me since I came here.."

Adelina looked a bit shocked. "I am?" She was a little shocked, mostly because even when she was new she had talked to a lot of people over the course of a few days. However, Ian did seem sort of quiet, so maybe that had something to do with it.

"Well... I'm sure you'll get to know a lot more people as you stay longer," she said with a small smile.
