On the roof, at night

Looking at the stars was one of Farrion's favorite things to do. He enjoyed looking up in to the sky, and pondering the mysteries of space.

Smiling to himself, deep inside, he was happy to be here. Even though it was his first day, and he had no friends, which in part was his fault cause he kept on spacing himself away form everyone, but in the future, maybe he would make some.

and with that thought, he layed down and stared up in to the sky.

Adelina sighed, and opened the door that led to the staircase that led to the roof. She had nothing to do, and couldn't sleep, and figured that she might as well go to the roof. She hadn't been there in a while.

She finally reached the door that opened to the roof. CREEEEEAAAAAKKKKK! She sighed again as it creaked, but walked out onto the roof anyway. She paused for a moment when she saw someone laying down. However, she shrugged, and walked over to them.

She sat down next to the young man, but left a few feet of distance between them. "Hi," she said, looking at him. "I'm Addie."

Farrion heard the loud creak of the door and began to wonder who was the person that had made that loud noise. It came apparent to him, however, when she sat down next to him. His first thought was to stand up and leave, that he didn't want to be interupted... but then he decided he wanted a friend, at least one. So he layed there and when she said her name, he responded "My name is Farrion."

THen he sat up and turned to look at her, smiled, and held out his hand.

"Nice to meet you, Farrion," Adelina said. She shook his hand, then looked at the sky. The thirteen-year-old smiled slightly; the sky reminded her of the nights back home. The sky was so clear, and the moon and stars were so beautiful.

She came out of her thoughts and blinked, then turned back to Farrion. "So... er... how long have you been here?" she asked.

Farrion was very pleased to meet her. She was very kind, and when he reached out with his feeligns to read her, he found nothing that disturbed him.

Looking up at the sky, he replied to her question.

"I've been here for about two days. I haven't had much time to meet anyone. I think your officially my first friend here." Farrion smiled at her, but his smile quickly left. He trusted this girl, so he told her the truth. "I don't have many friends, because most of the time I don't want any. I'm afraid to be with people. I'm afraid of myself, and I'm afraid of others. The reason i came to this school was because of what happened to me when people angered me. When i get angry, i lose control and use my powers against those that anger me. One time, i accidently attacked my best friend because iwas so angry. I jsut lose control, and there is nothing i can do to stop myself."

Feeling a tear stroll down his cheek, he reached up to wipe it off. Then he looked back up at the sky, marveling its beauty.

Adelina nodded as he spoke, and frowned as she saw him wipe away a tear. She had just met him, but she gave him a half-hug. "It's ok... I can't control my temper either..." She paused for a moment, and pulled away. She had never attacked one of her friends out of her anger, but she was going to do her best to comfort him. She immediately remembered something that might help. "One time, I accidentally set one of the classrooms at my old school on fire..." she said, smiling sadly.

She sighed, again coming out of her thoughts. "So... there's nothing you can do to stop yourself? Nothing? Like, counting to ten and stuff doesn't help?" Of course, she'd understand that too, because things like that didn't help her either.

More tears came down Farrions face, and he became upset with himself. Why am i crying? I never cry, ever, why is this happening. And now? right when i meet my first friend.

"Y-y-you can't control yoru anger either? What happens when you can't?" Farrion began to laugh. "You set your classroom on fire?" farrions laughs some more, "how did that turn out? Is your power fire?"

For the first time ina long time farrion was happy. He had made a friend.

Adelina gave him another half-hug when more tears went down his face. "Yeah, my power is fire... ha ha, you should have been there when that happened... I used to go to a school where none of the kids had powers except for me, and my friend Tori. Well, this one girl ticked me off — she was the most annoying, rudest, evillest girl ever. Anyway, she pushed the wrong buttons, and the walls caught fire, then the desks, and everything in the room. She was afraid... everyone was afraid. The smoke detectors went off, and the fire bell thing rang, and the sprinklers went off, but nothing was putting the fire out." She paused for a moment.

"Anyway, Tori ran into the room, because for some reason, she just knew it was me. She pulled me out of there, even though she got burned a little. Then, she flew off — literally — and got a hose that was outside. She started spraying me with it, and then, when I was cooled off, I made the flames disappear. Let's say that my family and none of the teachers were happy... and then I came here." She shrugged.

"And that's pretty close to what happens when I'm angry... except I haven't set any classrooms on fire lately, heh heh. My eyes go blood red, too."

Despite himself, Farrion couldn't help but smile. For some reason, he didn't want to. Part of him just didn't want to smile, but he could find no logic behind it. So he tried to overcome it, and inturn, he let himself smile.

"I have a little brother. He's about seven now, but when he was about seven months old i used to," farrion got a sly smile on his face, "i used to use my powers and throw him in the air and then catch him before he hit the ground. He used to love that." Farrion smiled, "he also liked it when right before he would go to sleep, i would gentle levitate him off the ground, and gentle rock him up and down."

Farrion smiled, and at the memory of his little brother, another tear fell down his cheek, but he knew that would be the last of them.

Adelina smiled slightly. "That's cool... my brother is sixteen... I'm the youngest in the family..." she said with a sigh. "Anyway, your power is... um... I can't think of the word... all I know is that it begins with a 'T'... but it's still cool." She smiled slightly.

She gave him another quick hug when she saw the tear role down his face.
