When Draenmor suggested that the two of them should go out hunting, Ankh was totally on board with the idea. Having been used to used to prey stumbling its way into the tomb she so long guarded... tracking down her quarry was suitable change of pace. After collecting her bow and quick prayer to Pakhet for successful hunt at her home, she accompanied Draenmor to the darkest recess of the forest in their search for game.

"How well do you knew of these woods Draenmor? And what manner of creature might we on the hunt for?" inquired Ankh as walks under the the tree canopy. Even with her large size, she finds that she was, for the most part, able to comfortably move between the trunks of massive trees. Though the thick leaves shields against much of the sunlight, what little comes through is more than enough for her superior feline eyes to make out shapes hidden in shadows. "I have only come to this forest a few times to practice archery on solitude though I never ventured this far."

After making her comment, she adjusts the large bow that hangs across her shoulder. Though the oversized bow is an antique nearly as old as her, practice with it affirms that giant bow was in good working condition.

Daen wasted no time in stripping out of his clothes and shifting once he was well past the treeline. He stayed small, not much larger than a horse, but turned fully into his Wyverian form. Hunting was one of those things that he didn't do because he needed to or because he had some instinct to. No, he just liked getting to kill something every once in a while. Eat a fresh kill raw, like the good old days.

At this size and with the way he prowled around, Daen almost resembled some kind of bulky jungle cat: a fact he almost hoped that Ankh appreciated. He had found himself drawn more to her since their first date and subsequent meetings. "I know this area well enough," he said in his deep, snarly voice as he slowly made his way around her.

"There are deer, but that's easy game. If we go a bit further, we can find perytons." Large, winged deer with sharp canines like a wolf. A ridiculous creature, but no more than a woman who was a giant lion from the hips down or a large saber tooth tiger dragon. "Just beyond that clearing," he added, taking a spot beside Aknh rather than walking strictly ahead of or behind her.

Ankh searched for her draconian compatriot as he stalks from the periphery of her vision. He was but an elusive and as graceful of leopard prowling though though its hunting ground. Yet he never strayed too far away, for she could knew sense this radiant soul always nearby. Though the deer were simple prey for the likes of them... they may offer a good opportunity for her test her skills with archery. Yet it was the perytons that Daenmor had promised ahead that sounded to be more promising game.

"I am... unfamiliar with these beast you call perytons. But if you think of them as suitable prey then let us seek them." answered Ankh the two of them walk together to the edge of the clearing. As they arrive, Ankh's ears perk up to a shrill cry of creature yet unseen. Her lion-like body instinctively crouched down try to ambush while her upper humanoid form a bow and arrow. As she draws to half draw, her arm muscles tense as she holds bowstring back, she looks over to Daenmor next to her.

"Peryton?" asked Ankh in a quite whisper to try to not draw attention to their presence.

Daenmor stopped when he heard the cry: shrill and bloodcurdling. Well, for humans he assumed. He wasn't scared of a goddamn deer owl monster. He glanced over at Ankh, admiring how hard and toned her body was, how gracefully she moved. He kept his voice low as he crouched in the underbrush and moved away from her. "I'll scare them out into the open. You be ready to shoot."

An then he was off, slinking stealthily through the foliage and undergrowth to find the peryton herd. Once he had them in his sights, he circled until he was positioned correctly. When he attacked the herd would go the opposite direction of his assault. The wind shifted as he set himself up, and the perytons turned once they could smell him.

Fuck.

Daenmor launched himself forward, digging his foreclaws and saber teeth into the doe's necks. The others scattered, but he was focused on his kill and couldn't tell if Ankh was able to get one or not.

Ankh nods as she understood Daenmor's plan. She watched as dragon slipped though the brush and disappeared among is foliage like some passing figment of imagination. With him now gone, she turned and watch treetops to where they had both heard cries from before. She steadies her aim with slow, rhythmic breath as she waited for Daenmor to flush their prey into the skies. She could then hear a commotion and flurry of feathered beast scatter in the air like oversize startled birds.

Ankh focused on the stag that appeared closest to her and let an arrow lose. There was twing of twine, followed by the whoosh of a large arrow screaming through the air. Though she intended to hit the peryton's center of mass, the arrow managed to find its mark on one of the creature's wings as it exploded into a mess of feathers. The beast itself fell from the sky like Icarus falling from the sky as it landed with limbless flop on in the empty field. Not the cleanest kill but Ankh was satisfied with her performance as she approached her kill. To her surprise, the peyton still lived though barely.

With its wing clipped and its body broken from the fall, the only merciful she could do now was to end its life so it may suffer no more for her botched shot. She slips a hand under just behind the creature's head and mutters a quite prayer of thanks to Pakhet for successful hunt before she snaps the creatures neck in single motion. She could see the soul wriggling what was once life now ebbs and disappears into the ether as peryton's body now grows cold. With the deed done she scans the forest line to find if Daenmor has revealed themselves once more.

Daenmor approached from Ankh's right flank, larger now and carrying his kill triumphantly in his teeth. She had gotten a pretty clean kill, someone thing that made him even fonder of her. Setting the carcass of his kill down, Daen turned and licked a wound on his shoulder where the peryton had turned to bite him in a futile attempt to escape. Only one fang had gotten through his scales, but it had gone fairly deep.

"That's a pretty kill," he noted when he was satisfied with his shoulder. "Prettier than mine, anyway."

Shifting back to his human form, Daenmor stretched and pulled out the fang that was embedded in his shoulder. "So do you want to cook these up or just eat them? I can do either, so I'll leave it up to you." He didn't bother asking if he should go put his clothes back on or not. He saw no reason to get them dirty with the blood he had on himself, and no reason to cover himself up in front of Ankh.

If she wanted to cook the perytons, it wouldn't be too hard to get a fire going. There was plenty of dead wood in this part of the Forbidden Forest. Daen would get it set up in no time and use his claws to start cleaning the deer-like creatures. Again, assuming Ankh didn't want to just tear into them raw.

Ankh's tail sways from side to side as Daenmor makes his approach, returning with a kill of his own. Comparing the two kills, her was indeed the more presentable. While hers was mostly intact, aside from massive trauma to the wing, Daenmor's showed evidence of scuffle between predator and prey.

"Why thank you. Its good that my archery practice has finally produced some results. The gods must be smiling for such a successful hunt." Ankh then watches as Daenmor licks his wounds, as the creature apparently injured him as it fought back. Before she could bring up the injury he had already shifted to humanoid form and asked her about if she wanted to cook their food or not.

"Oh I am used to consuming my prey raw so let us just eat them as they are. Do require healing so that you may eat in comfort? Or do you wish to have scar to remember this day by?" asked Ankh, whom wasted no time with removing the limbs of the dead beast one by one.

Taking his own peryton by one leg and twisting to free the limb from the rest of its body, Daenmor grinned up at Ankh and gave a small shake of his head. "Nah. It'll heal fast enough on its own, and I don't really scar unless I actively regenerate my wounds."

Sitting down, he started eating. He loved cooked meat for sure, but there was something primal and satisfying about eating meat raw. It reminded him of his younger years, of living on the edge of the Akt'Anir community, and then later the interspersed years he had spent on his own.

"You're pretty good with that bow though. I was never much of a hunter in that regard, but I can appreciate the skill," he mused as the two of them ate, grinning up at her with his mouth full of sharp teeth.

Ahkh nods in understanding Daenmor explains that he did not require any healing. As her partener broke into his carcass, she rips off a leg from her own and takes a grisly bite into the oversize drumstick. When Daenmor complimented her on her archery, she tears year another piece flesh with her teeth and and quickly scarfs it down. Once she had swallowed, she dabbed away any excess juices with the sleeve of her loose garments she wore.

"Why thanks... I have been practicing ever since I came to surface. Ever since this bow was given to me as tribute some... thousands or so years ago I have always been meaning to use it. Now that I am out of confines of the tomb, I have much more room to actually practice. Practice that is finally starting to pay off."

"The practice shows. You're pretty damn good at it," he said through a bite of meat. Daenmor lounged back against the tree behind him, cocking one of his legs to give himself a comfortable position to both look at Ankh and eat his meal. Or at least what he would eat of it now. He didn't need a ton of calories at the moment. He'd probably take the rest of the carcass to a butcher to have cut up into servings for later.

He regarded her, thinking about things. About settling down. Having kids. He stopped himself. Thinking too fast. Just because he didn't have to haul off and leave anytime soon... and he was just starting things with Ankh anyway. He didn't want to drive her off by getting too serious too fast.

"Well, when we're done there's a river we can clean up in. And after that, who knows eh?"
