On a Fallen Tree

Violet bit her lip as a wave of depression hit her full force. One minute she had been happily conversing with her twin, the next she clammed up and her face showed depths of sadness.

Her twin, Joe, stared at her with a compassionate look as Violet stood from the bed they had been sitting on and walked out of te dorm. Violet didn't even cast her sister one last glance as she left. Once she closed the door, she stared at the ground and walked out of the academy. She looked up when she saw green grass below her feet. Looking around, she figured out exactly where she was and headed in the direction of the lake.

Ten minutes later Violet found a spot right near the body of water with no one around it. A fallen tree lay there also, so she laid down along the trunk and stared sightlessly up at the sky while focusing in on the sound of the rustling of the water.

Kip walked, as he walked every now and then he felt a spot on his head where a small wound was, he knew how he got it, but he hated thinking about it, but when ever he felt it he thought of it, that night, the night Steel left his body. He was happy Steel left, but he was also sad that he didn't know what happened to his family and that he wasted two of his ears by being possessed by a boy.

Kip neared the lake, his hand still on his hurting head, he thought he should go to the hospital wing, but it wasn't severe, so he wouldn't bother them with a little pain.

He neared a fallen down tree, and noticed someone was on it, he looked at the girl a moment, then moved forward, glancing out towards the lake. It was beautiful, the last time he truly saw it through his eyes was two years ago. He was so happy to be free at last.

Violet heard someone walking and glanced around. She spotted a boy a few feet off and the beginning of a frown etched her forehead. What was he doing her? Didn't he know he was encrouching in on her territory? Well, it wasn't literally her territory, but she liked to think it was.

Violet pushed a lock of her white hair behind her ear before looking away from the boy, out to the water. The ripples of the water almost made her smile, but not quite.

"Hullo." Kip called to the girl, as he got a little closer, and he noticed her frown, but didn't care much about it. He stopped a few feet away from the tree, and looked at her a moment, then looked at the water a moment.

"I was just a little bored and came out for a walk, hope you don't mind me here." He said, a bit politely, though his voice sounded dull a little, he was still trying to make his voice a little different because of Steel, who always seemed to have a dull tone.

Actually, I do, but whatever. She shook her head at the boy and pulled her knees up and hugged them. Violet thought about letting her wings free and flying off, but they would only carry her maybe ten feet. Not far enough away. So she just stared at him.

He looked at the girl, his gaze narrow a moment, then she straighten, and stood a bit taller, though, not to look taller, his back was starting to ache a little, though not bad, he didn't get hurt there on that night.

"So... Your not gonna really talk are yo?" He asked simply. He wasn't good at talking to people, cause it was two years since he'd last actually talked to someone.

Violet shook her head. "No." She kept staring at him for a moment before she turned her gaze back to the lake. Her depressive mood was gradually wearing off, but that brought on exhaustion. She quietly sighed.

He stared, then shook his head a moment, and then looked up again. "Why not?" He asked, staring out at the lake a moment, before he turned his gaze back to the girl.

"Because... I haven't talked to anyone for two years." He said, his voice quiet, and a little sad.
