Silver sat at a local cafe drinking a cup of coffee. Something many would find curious considering he was an ice dragon. He tried it once on a whim and surprised himself when he discovered he liked it. He spent much of his time speaking with contacts on the state of his kingdom while looking for people willing to assist him in retaking it. A front which was still looking rather hopeless. He had been at this for so long most would have given up by now. Truth be told he had given up several times over but a dragon can't truly give up a treasure. eventually they'll return for it be it a week or a century later. He often found himself in public spaces when he'd mentally exhausted himself and needed a break from his main objective.

Unfortunately all of his unhealthy brooding left him keeping most people he met at arms length. He didn't even have a faithful retainer that he could confide in. And having three heads couldn't solve that problem either. He needed something real to do. Little did he know this particular day had something to that effect in store.

An alien arrived to the island not too long ago. This alien knew very little about Earth but came here with a mission in mind. She was to serve as her planet's ambassador and use her diplomatic skills to earn the trust of the members and gain favor with the council. Then perhaps she could be crowned queen. She looked forward to the day of coronation and hoped that she would be the winning candidate. She could imagine the fanfare as she attended the crowning ceremony and the happy looks on her family's faces. She could bring change to her planet.

But that change was not going to happen today. Today she was going to go by the same cafe she went to yesterday. Yesterday she was welcomed by Earth's ambassador and had a pleasant lunch with him/them. She found herself shell-shocked by a few things, including the availability of water. In fact, she came back for more water and to try out another item on the menu. She contemplated what her choice would be. Perhaps she should try a new drink too? Then again having real water was spectacular. It was so good and pure. She craved another taste of it.

Y'Isha accidentally dropped her bag while walking by Silver's table. Some of the contents spilled out. She frowned and uttered a few words in her native language before crouching down to pick up her things. One of those items was her organizer. It was in the shape of a metal ball. Thanks to its roundness, it rolled up to Silver's leg. She reached for the object.

"My apologies, I should not be prone to such mistakes."

She uttered as she tried to gather everything together. She hadn't taken a look at Silver yet but was addressing him with her apology.

The dragon looked at her in mild confusion. It wasn't really the fact that this girl had dropped her bag. Nor was it her appearance, attractive as she was, she seemed ordinary enough for this island at least. His sharp hearing had caught her uttering a language he wasn't familiar with. Even languages he wasn't unable to speak in fluently, he could at least identify them. And her scent was familiar yet not familiar. She smelled like his own icy homeland and yet completely foreign.

"It's alright, these things happen to everyone."

His tone seemed icy yet reassuring as he reached for the sphere that had rolled under him. He was passively radiating a faint chill as he did so, placing the object in its owners hand. He continued studying her, his draconic instincts telling him this one was unique compared to other beings on the island. He'd bury his curiosity given the simple fact that it wasn't his business and she had no obligation to him. He uttered something in his natural tongue to the effect of "dammit".

"That said you should try to be a bit more careful. That little ball looks important," it had a mesmerizing shine to it that made him want to investigate it more even though Diamonds were his particular preferred object to hoard.

The man responded positively to her apology. This relieved her, but she still felt bad for making such a fumble like that. He was even kind enough to pick up her organizer off of the ground and hand it to her. Her hand grabbed it as he offered it. Her fingertips lightly brushed his skin. Quickly she felt a chill from him more comforting than Earth's hot temperature. She felt a cold that was like a taste of her home planet. The very notion soothed her. Her hand didn't move away. Her crystal blue eyes glanced up to look the man in the face.

"Your hands are cold. It's really soothing."

This would seem bizarre, but the truth was she was an alien from a post-apocalyptic planet covered in ice. It was always bitterly cold and would probably kill a normal human quickly. It was because of this that she had not fully adapted to the island's temperature yet. She also was still working on the gravity, which was why she messed up and dropped her bag earlier. Now that she felt his coldness, she was less interested in food and more interested in learning about him. She sat down in the other chair and pressed a button on the ball.

A hologram appeared. It listed times and events, but it was unlikely Silver could read it. It was all within an alien language. Notably today's entry, which was highlighted, had a large number of blank spots. She didn't really have anything to do today. Another tap of the button dismissed the hologram.

"It's my personal organizer. I use it to keep track of what I need to do."

The ball was gently placed within her bag. She faced forward and crossed her legs. A hand extended out to Silver.

"Y'Isha Luvancrass."

Clearly it was an attempt at a friendly handshake. Would he go for it? Seemed perfectly okay.

"Soothing, that the first time I've heard that description."

Her comment about his cold aura had caught him off guard a bit. Most people either ignored his cold or found it somewhat unpleasant. And if neither was the case then they were probably also ice or cold based beings. That confirmed she was from a similar environment as him. She was probably still acclimating to her new environment, something that took him a few months to finally adapt to. He wasn't sure how recently she'd arrived on the island.

He studied the hologram, while he was aware such technology existed , he wasn't familiar with the language that it was showing. It kind of looked like a planner though. Actually, it was a planner. The dragon simply nodded, opting out of questioning it further. She was without a doubt a new arrival on the island. The question was from where. He decided he'd allow her company for the time being, He didn't have much else to do.

"I'm Silver Nivalle," he offered her a smile and shook her hand with a firm icy grip. "I don't mean to pry but are you new on this island?"

As they shook hands, Y'Isha felt the urge to cling onto his hand. It felt so cold and comforting that she never wanted to let go. In fact, she would rub her face against his hand if she could. However, she literally just met him, so that would be a terrible plan. Instead she shook his hand with a scary amount of firmness and strength and looked him right in the eyes. A smile crossed her pale face as their hands separated. She exuded confidence even in a situation where she was ultimately disadvantaged.

"Yes, I am. I've been here but a day."

And there was still much more that she needed to learn. She desired to learn as much about the island and its inhabitants as possible. However, her focus was now on Silver for his cold aura. She absolutely needed to know more about this man. He was more within her climate.

"I cannot help but wonder what species are you. Last I checked, humans were not supposed to be this chilly."

She was an intelligent enough alien to know that there weren't just humans here; there were all kinds of species. She could only guess that some of them were shapeshifters, but she had no way of knowing who and who wasn't without asking them directly. It's not like she had detection abilities. She leaned forward in her chair as she kept eyeing him. Looks like any help he would offer would have to wait.
