Official Speed Dating Thread: Adults​

In the week-long cruise for adults, there's a cocktail lounge open in one of the activity rooms. It's dimly lit with red lights. There's a bar, and a singer with a soft voice singing acoustics of 90's love songs. Only characters above the age of 18 are allowed to enter. Cheeky teens of consenting age can do so too at their own discretion.

Information​

For the speed dating thread, characters will be given information cards where they'll put their name, gender, sexuality, relationship status, whether they're monogamous or polyamorous, and age, which they'll indicate in the bottom of their first post to each other. Speed dating encounters should be no more than six posts, with three posts maximum from each player. Anymore, and they'll have to switch to another person, or leave the speed dating. Feel free to go around and just mingle around the lounge, too!

Don't forget to mention the player you want to hit up!

Jane nodded. "I'd love to!" Jane stood up, beckoning for John to join her at the deck.

John stood up from the table and joined her.

Who knew you got time off right after a promotion? Angelo did, apparently. Being realistic, he was long overdue for a vacation, and the cruise had sounded good.

Then, so had the speed dating. An amicable breakup--less than two weeks earlier--meant that speed dating technically could have been considered a rebound, but Angelo wasn't all that bothered. It wasn't like it had been messy. They'd just talked it out, decided they'd be better off with other people, and moved on.

Simple, easy.

The event had really just started, and people were only just starting to filter in when Angelo had filled out his card and grabbed a seat.

Snal and Nith were eager to try out this speed dating thing that the love cruise was providing. With the SSOF on temporary standby and the holiday known at Valentine's coming up, the couple had taken it upon themselves to get acquainted with the Earth rituals of romance.

So in their female bio-containment suit, dressed in a simple black dress and heels, Charlie stepped in and took a long look around the room before filling out a card and taking a seat. They argued momentarily as they filled out the information, not particularly aware that they were speaking loudly enough for others to hear.
"We should have done more research on the dating habits of Earthlings."
"But normal Earthling interactions don't conform to laboratory conditions. Running too many simulations would have been wasted effort."
"Perhaps you are right. This time."
"Of course I am."

When Eloise heard "speed dating", he had incredibly odd misconceptions about it. How could you speed? A date? The person at the counter explained it to him: You have only a few minutes to get to know a person and see how you like them before moving onto another one! Fine by him! Eloise had one surefire way to know if he was going to like someone.

While he waited for it to start, he sat at the bar and preened, fluffed his hair and coat up, put on lip gloss, and adorned himself in pretty jewelry. He raised a mirror to look himself over. He looked very pretty, almost like in that otherworldy elven way people liked to talk about.

The round started. Eloise sat down at the first table... and wouldn't you know it, it was that sexy bear of a cop he met at the lodge! He giggled and wiggled his fingers in a wave.

"Angelo, right? Fluffy from the lodge? It's Eloise! Hi!" He held up his card. "So, fair warning, I'm gonna kiss everyone here, and I'm gonna kiss you now." True to his word, he launched himself from where he was sitting and attempted to kiss Angelo on the mouth.

What was she doing here?

Caterina had been invited to come on the cruise along with many members of her family. She was trying to be more bold and experience new things--so she agreed. But...maybe trying this speed dating thing was too bold for her.

She fidgeted awkwardly where she sat, mostly messing with the trademark Rosales roses that adorned her hair. She really was trying to put herself out there more, but this was...a lot for her. A tint of a blue blush had already started to rise in her cheeks, and she hadn't even talked to anyone yet. Mostly she was trying to make sure the Banyoles Monster didn't surface its tentacles. That was NOT the first impression she wanted to give.

Too embarrassed to go looking for whoever she needed to speak to first, she sat and waiting--hoping they would approach her instead of her having to make first contact.

The first person to sit at his table was a familiar face, even if Angelo couldn't quite remember their name. Something flowery sounding. The little card that was set down confirmed that their name was Eloise no last name, which helped a little bit. The seventy years old was a bit surprising, considering he didn't look nearly that age, but it was Manta Carlos, and it wasn't that unusual. His last boyfriend had been who-the-fuck-knows-how-old, and that hadn't been nearly as much of an issue as Angelo had expected.

"Angelo," he confirmed, giving a little snort at being called fluffy.

Angelo was not expecting a kiss. Really, he was just gearing himself up to give an introduction--even if he didn't think it was plausibly going to work based on the card--when Eloise declared he was going to kiss him and just went for it.

Eloise was fast, but Angelo was also fast, and Eloise had at least given him some warning. His hand darted up, catching the bottom of Eloise's face in his palm and jerking his head back as he did.

"Woah," Angelo protested. "What happened to asking?"

Allan Lochman had just arrived on Manta Carlos a few weeks ago, yet here he was at a speed dating event. He looked over the people there, his eyes fell on an attractive woman. Smiling he approached her, "hello Caterina," he said reading of her card.

Bara sat down at a table in the finest female form she could manage. Fair light green skin with dark spots under the eyes, mimicking freckles. Big, luscious leaves mimicked wavy hair down to her shoulders. Soft red flower petals played the role of her hair accessories and her revealing dress.

She looked beautiful and she knew it. She sat down, preferring to wait patiently at her table and let the humanoids come to her, like birds or bees to a delicate flower. She gave off a strong scent - a sweet, delicious aroma that humans would find attractive.

She was so glad that she was on sabbatical. That meant she had the time to try a lot of new things, like romance.

It wasn't that she was desperate, because she wasn't, she told herself. It's just that it had been a while and this was... a convenient way to meet new people. Dorito told herself that as she sat at a table nervously, putting her card down at the table and looking around. She hadn't been this jittery since... she couldn't even remember when. Still, at three foot tall and with a mottled pattern on her brown skin, Dorito stood out considerably. She wore a dark blue dress, though one with a low cut front and a somewhat high skirt, and had her short hair held back with two clips, though with her bangs in an almost fiery fringe as they hung forward.

"Hey, you come here often?" Did Dorito really just say that? Oh god she was turning in to her sister...

Eloise... got blocked. Whoa! He took a few moments to process this, staring at the hand covering his mouth, eye dilated with fascination. He moved the hand away, though he lounged at the table as if he was a monarch and this entire boat was his.

"Aw, that's a real shame. Thought ye'd be more open to that! I'm pretty sure mosta the people 'ere ain't the type that came lookin' fer a serious commitment, if ye know what I mean." He tapped his chin, then slipped back into his seat. He looked at him from across the table, dialing up his obnoxious cute faces up to eleven. "But ye know what, sure, we got another minute left, tell me about yerself in five sentences or less." He giggled.
