Cleo

Cleo walked into Malakias office at the House Of Volkov with an uncharacteristic unease. It had been a few days since her meeting with him, and though she'd been working to gather information about the recent attacks, there was still the matter of Adryan Speed. Even for a master criminal, he was proving difficult to find, despite Cleo's best efforts.

And now Mal wanted a word with her, most likely to discuss her progress, and it put her on edge to think that she might get on Mal's bad side so soon after arriving on the island. "You wanted to.." Cleo said as she entered his office, only to find it occupied by someone decidedly not Mal. Quickly summoning a pair of playing cards she cast a glare towards the stranger. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't call security, right now."

adryan with eye.PNGTalk. Talk may be cheap, but it travelled. Adryan always paid attention to the talk around him. It was how he found himself jobs. People never found him. They talked about him, and he found them. This was why he was sitting in the office belonging to one Malakias Volkov.
Only, Adryan had talked and dropped hints to certain people that started rumors to lure Cleo in under the guise that Malakias wanted to speak with her. It worked like a charm. As Cleo walked in, Adryan was sitting in Malakias' chair with his feet propped up on the desk. A confident and suave smile upon his face.
"Because I could disappear just as easily as I got in here and you would be left to look the fool. Besides.... you've been looking for me."

Cleo stared at Adryan for a few seconds, still tense. "Looking for you?" She asked out loud, the pieces not quite clicking yet. "Why would... Wait, you don't mean to tell me you're Adryan?!" She nearly shouted in surprise and confusion at this sudden turn of events.

If it were up to her, Adryan wouldn't even be here right now. But it wasn't Cleo's decision to make, she would just have to put up with him until they figured out what was going on with the vampires, and then he would be Mal's problem.

After taking a deep breath to collect herself, she met Adryans gaze."Well, while I would have liked to have this talk elsewhere. I suppose this will have to do." She huffed. As much as she didn't like Adryan, or really anything about this. She still had a job to do. "Simply put, my boss is willing to pay a sizable sum to you. And all you need to do is help us get some, information."

Adryan's smile shifted from sauve to smug as he saw the light bulb go off when she finally made the connection of who he was. It was just a small game he enjoyed playing with people. It also allowed him to gauge how well known he was. By name, by skills, and most importantly by face. It seemed his face was still a complete mystery to those on the island and that's how he intended to keep it.

"The one and only. And your apprehension to meet here is exactly why I want to meet here. If I can't come to an agreement, I have to have some kind of chip to hold onto to make sure my identity stays hidden, and boy is this place just full of surprises."
How much he actually knew and how much he was just alluding to was up for debate, but the point was made and that's all he cared about. "Information? That's it? This will be easy," the demon residing within him stated inside Adryan's mind.
"Straight to business. I like it. A couple things first, you don't know my face. Nothing about it. Make up whatever lie you need to, but this face doesn't exist. Second, I only take payments in things other than currency. Gems, paintings, artifacts, or anything of the sort. Gems are the preferred method. Now, you boss wants to pay for my services to get them information? That's it?"

He had to make sure he heard that right. Nux seemed to think this would be an easy job and they could be out of here before the week was out, but something told the thief that it wasn't that simple.

"Yes. Though, how you will be paid isn't my problem. Take it up with Mr. Volkov. The same Mr. Volkov whose chair you happen to be sitting in." Cleo replied with no small amount of disdain.

"The hard part will be getting the information. I take it you are familiar with the recent events surrounding the islands vampires? We want to find out what's happening. And why." Given everything that had happened, Adryan should have heard rumors at the very least. But even if he hadn't Cleo was more than prepared to fill him in.

Adryan leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms behind his head, the smug grin persisting. He almost seemed to rub in the fact that, yes he was sitting in Malakias chair, and no one else knew he was even here.

"Well I can tell you I don't work till payment is agreed upon. So you might want to figure that out quick with your boss."
Pulling his feet off the desk, Adryan sat up and imitated being extremely professional behind the desk as Cleo began talking about what was going on.
"I'm very aware. But why does that concern the Volkov's?"

Cleo let out a sigh as she made a mental note to discuss Adryans demand with Malakias, though it seemed excessive to her. Money was money. Who cared if it was in bills or art or gems?

"It becomes a concern for us when our employees get attacked, and especially when we don't know why. Which is why you're here." Cleo said, matter of factly. "Given your area of expertise, you would be perfect for following any leads we find. As I said before, you will be compensated. And I don't think anyone will mind if some things go missing while your poking around." Cleo said with a smirk.

"Speaking of which, I already know where to send you."

Adryan listened to why they had an interest in these supposed vampires going crazy. The reason given didn't make sense for them to seek out someone like him. This was something the police could handle. There had to be something else, but he wasn't going to push it. Uncomfortable clients didn't tend to let you work.

"So where's first then? I'm assuming after this initial tip off I'm free to look into whatever I need to figure this out? Also assuming time is important."

"That's correct. I'll also be feeding you any leads I can find as to where to go next. As I hear them." Cleo said. Malakias wanted them to work together after all.

"As for where to go, are you familiar with a Mister Garnier and Miss Croft? They are a pair of well connected and wealthy vampires. As well as the ones who started this whole debacle. Pay a visit to their homes and see if you can't find anything strange or out of place. If you find anything.." She trailed off, thinking for a moment. "Well, what would work best for getting in touch with you? I'd rather not repeat, this." Cleo gave a vague wave around Malakias's office as she spoke.

Adryan continued to listen to the info that was passed. Seemed straight forward enough. Check out the house of some well to do vampires and see if anything is odd. Well, odd for well to do vampires.
"I'm familiar with them yea. And as far as getting a hold of me, please give me a contact number, and I will reach out to that number with how to contact me."
Adryan knew it had to be a pain to deal this way, but he had precautions he had to take. They hadn't failed him yet so he wasn't about to stop.
"You must understand the precautions I take."
