This was an absolute disaster. Quincy stood outside this supposed "random dorm room" with his hand awkwardly hanging in the air, trying to decide whether or not he wanted to knock on it or not. He really should though, if he wanted to right this disaster he'd made. It was half a joke, half 'just wanted to join in with the spirit of the holiday'. Sure. Once before, Quincy asked his mom if it was okay to send out gifts to random strangers during the holidays. She'd said it was fine. Little did Quincy know, she had misunderstood the general-ness of his question. So he did: he sent an anonymous Valentines to a random room. It was only two things, either the gift finds it's way to someone and maybe could cheer them up, or it would just get lost somewhere because no one would receive it and no return address. Besides, it was only a card with a handwritten note. And maybe a small package it was attached to. Okay, maybe it was a box that contained a charm bracelet he got from a random trinket store. 'That would probably less strange if it was Christmas,' she told him after finding out he'd sent it. It took a day to sink in, and Quincy would have easily tried to convince himself that would probably get lost since he was an unlucky loser anyway. That was until a notification came in, telling Quincy that his little present made its way to a recipient. Which brings him to where he is now. Only, he was hesitating at the last minute if it was okay to take the gift back. After finding what was left of his resolve, he gingerly knocked on the door.

Hikaru opened the door, very much in a good mood. It was Valentine's day, and someone had sent him a note! And it was handwritten! And it had a small charm bracelet attached to it! It was really nice, and it suited him. Sure, the way it was a little thin and had a pink and red loveheart made it look a little a feminine, but it was nice. He wondered who the nice girl who had given him the trinket was. The note had been sweet and simple too - just "Happy Valentine's Day!" according to Google Translate.

He beamed at the person standing in front of the door, charm bracelet tinkling as he put his hands at his sides relaxedly.

"Hey there," he said, allowing his language charm to do the translation work for him. "Haven't seen you around before. Can I help ya?" He grinned.

The door opened fairly quickly -- maybe a little too soon, not even giving Quincy a chance to make a run for it if he had a change of heart -- and Quincy was greeted with a bright smile that caught him off guard. He inwardly panicked, almost forgetting what he was there for until he averted his gaze. "Hey... yeah, I kinda don't frequent the dorms that often so ha-ha surprise, but I was wondering if you happened to receive--" He cut himself off when he noticed a slight glint from the boy's wrist. Quincy immediately reached for the other's hand to examine the bracelet. Quincy's brows furrowed a bit, confirming that it was indeed the one he picked out. And he was wearing it, how the heck was Quincy supposed to take that as? Based on that grin he had, maybe taking it back wasn't necessary after all. "It even suits you, how am I supposed to argue with that?" he mused aloud. Laughing awkwardly, Quincy released the boy's hand from his hold. "Well, I guess you did get it then. Um..." His voice trailed off, struggling how to continue. Great, how on earth does he get out from this?

Hikaru blinked. What was this guy doing at his doorstep? Well, he guessed you couldn't really call it a doorstep since there wasn't an actual step, but whatever.

The guy was saying something about Hikaru receiving something, then randomly grabbing his wrist. He didn't mind, but it sure was weird. The guy was mumbling too, something about it suiting him. Huh. Maybe he had a sister who'd sent the bracelet? Either way, he felt like there was some kinda misunderstanding going on here. Maybe the bracelet wasn't meant for him? The guy would probably say something if it wasn't.

"So, uh... Were you the one that sent this?" He said, keeping a perfect smile on his face despite the gloomy feeling he had that told him he'd have to give it back. So much for being a gift from a girl. Ah well. "It's really nice, but I can't help but wonder if it might have been meant for someone else." He chuckled, ignoring his urge to curl up into a sad ball. He was already taking the bracelet off and offering it to the guy. Ah, well... Guess he'd just buy himself some chocolate or something. At least there was that mixer to go to tomorrow...

Quincy almost looked a little flustered when he was asked, but instead of speaking, his voice was caught in his throat. There was part of him that scolded him, telling him that he should have just left them alone instead of showing up like this. Well, too bad, he already was there. And besides, all of a sudden it seemed okay? He was giving back the bracelet to Quincy without even saying a word -- that could have meant it was fine to take it back, right? But once the words 'meant for someone else sunk in', he instinctively tried to stop the other boy from taking off the bracelet. "W-what, no!" Quincy stammered out, "I actually did send it here b-b-but I'd thought it was going to be awkward and everything so I thought I should take it off your hands but..." Quincy huffed, sounding almost like a whine. Slowly, he took his hands back, leaving the bracelet in the other boy's hands still. He took an unconscious step back, hiding his own hands behind him. "Someone told me it might a little weird to have sent it out so randomly so I thought I should just take it back... but if it's okay with you, I don't mind you keeping it..."

Hikaru blinked. What? This boy was confusing. He was...sulking? Over his own choice? What? And he didn't want it back? Hikaru was troubled now. On the one hand, he liked the bracelet and wanted to keep it, but on the other hand he wanted to give it back because this all felt like a huge misunderstanding. But he liked the bracelet, even if it did come from a guy. But he guessed it wasn't meant specifically for him? This was probably the weirdest situation he'd been in. Even weirder than when he had found so many people staring at him in Tokyo.

He felt his irises go red from the stress. Crap. He crouched and turned away - dammit, why now?! Why did his stupid eyes have to do this?! He felt them grow redder, the range of this stupid accursed power increasing. "S-Sorry!" He whimpered, hoping that somehow this other guy was special and wouldn't be affected by the whole eye thing. Now was the worst time to be stared at... damnit... damn it all...!

Quincy stood there a little awkwardly, waiting for the other's response. But with each passing second, he only got antsier, wanting to excuse himself and pretend the meeting never happened. That would be easier; besides it seemed like he'd confused the other guy enough -- perhaps walking away would be better. Which would have been the case if the boy hadn't suddenly turned away. At first, Quincy would have thought this was his cue to leave, but he felt like he shouldn't leave. He heard him apologize but for what reason, Quincy wasn't sure. "Hey uh.. are you okay?" he asked, reaching out his hand again. He'd almost touched his shoulders, but withdrew, considering maybe he wouldn't appreciate the contact right at this exact second. "Uh, does something hurt? I'm not a doctor but do you need help or something?"

Dammit, dammit, dammit...he could feel the guy staring at him. Actually, he was pretty sure the other guy was about to poke him. Not a good idea. Probably would make Hikaru more stressed.

"Yeah..." He said, slowly turning around to take his hands off his eyes. Well, if the guy was already staring, there was little point in hiding it. His irises had shifted to red from their usual blue. "It's just... when I'm stressed or nervous, this tends to happen." He said, slowly getting up and pointing at his eyes. "It fades, or if I try I can turn it off..." He said, then shut his eyes tight as he forced the pulsing feeling of his power to go down. He was glad he could turn it off now, but it was more of an issue of being able to keep it from turning on without a nullification bracelet. Then, and only then, could he go back to Tokyo. If he even could anymore.

It wasn't like he didn't like it here - he'd gotten used to it, and actually kinda liked it. It's just... he really wanted to follow his dreams, and there wasn't much of a future for him here. Or at least, he felt that way. "I don't need a doctor. It's just a bit embarrassing..." He chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "So, uh, you can take this thing back if you'd like. I'd feel bad for keeping it if you wanted it back." He forced another laugh out. Man, today was just getting worse and worse by the minute, huh? Maybe he ought to upgrade the chocolate to a whole cake. And a moping session. Preferably with sad anime.

Quincy tilted his head as the other boy began to explain, not even realizing what he was apologizing for. Or explaining, for that matter. "What tends to happen?" he asked simply, clearly unaware. The most he caught was him pointing to his eyes, which Quincy at least understood it was something with the eyes. He'd noticed the change in color, but Quincy couldn't understand what was particular about it. But that was another matter. "I er... I mean, I'm sorry," he started, sounding a bit tensed up. "I didn't mean to stress you out by coming here or anything. I mean, I actually thought you'd have been more stressed out about getting it so I went to check but you looked super happy right now instead and I don't ruin your day like I usually do a lot so I thought I should just go but then I felt like I couldn't leave you curled up there and I really should shut up now, shouldn't I?" Both Quincy's hands flew up to his mouth, having to need to physically stop himself from saying more than necessary. Talk less, listen more, his mom told him. He breathed in, then slowly put his hands back behind him as he exhaled slowly. "Sorry," he repeated, then carefully continued. "I don't really want it back. So maybe. We can... just pretend I wasn't here...?"

Hikaru stared. Like, full on stared. Gods, this boy was a mess. It was stressing him out just looking at him. He felt worse. He'd done this. The poor guy was freaking out all because of him, and... dammit. He couldn't keep the thing now. It'd just bring back bad memories. With a smile, he put the boy's bracelet back into his hand and closed his fingers around it, so the boy couldn't give it back to Hikaru even if he wanted to.

Today sucked. It was the worst. "It's fine," he said, running a hand through his hair shyly, ever pretending to be fine. His facade was beginning to show cracks, though. He knew he couldn't keep up the chill act for much longer. "Thanks for stopping by. I appreciated the gift, even if it was a mistake." With a final smile before he broke, Hikaru closed and the locked the door behind him, managing to make it to his bed before he began to sniffle. He buried his face in his pillow.

Stupid Valentine's day. It sucked. It wasn't a day of love. It was a day of guilt and heartbreak. Who invented this stupid thing?
