"Yeah," Sighed Box, his big blue eyes dimming slightly "Maybe. Apparently if i do it too much to one person, it's called har-ass--ment and it's bad. Officer Dangelo told me that. But if the school told them to do it, then it's not my fault right? The dude who runs the comedy store said that i shouldn't do it to my fellow roasters backstage cos it un-der-mines their con-fid-ence."

Box had found a dictionary at the community centre and had been making liberal use of it, not just to learn new insults. He was attempting to learn larger words. He knew what they meant, but struggled to say them, and had to spell them out syllable by syllable. That was the main reason he was in school, to learn maths and vocabulary, and basic knowledge, to learn more about society and how to survive in it. They were having a tough time explaining banks to him.

"Yeah hopefully" Said Box, brightening up "I'm not gonna give up. I'm de-ter-mined. Maybe if i can find someway to control it, i can make friends. that would be nice."

Even though Valli was familiar with Angelo, he didn't recognize the name. Not instinctively, and not when it was so wrong.

"That's right," Valli said. "It's considered rude--and bad--to insult anyone at all, but if you continually insult someone it would constitute harassment. While Manta Carlos is very open and all that, the rule of thumb is that one person's rights end where another's start. While they make many accommodations, it eventually ends. If someone can only survive by murdering another sentient life, Manta Carlos can't accommodate that, for example."

If anyone had ever come to the island with that specific restriction, Valli hadn't heard of it. Probably a being like that existed somewhere, but probably it was smart enough not to try and come to a peaceful place like Manta Carlos.

"That's a good thing to aim for," Valli said. "Making friends. The saying is that no man is an island, and that counts for supernatural creatures as well. Anyone who could survive entirely without interaction wouldn't be here, after all."

The rest of the session was better - Valli ignored the compulsive insults, and worked through a few more handy tips to help put things off and de-escalate the situation. It was, all things considered, a session well done... although Valli couldn't help but wonder just where lying was going to lead Box.
