Cleo

So far, it had been a pretty good night for Cleo. The strip was full of plenty of places for someone like her to make a quick buck, the Casinos least of all. But, while she had partaken in some light gambling, tonight was more dedicated to getting a lay of the land, and seeing what island had to offer.

Right now, she was inside one of the many bars on the strip, taking a moment to collect her thoughts while drinking some wine, before heading out to the casino's once again. After all, with her luck, she was bound to win much more than lost.

The latest events at the Bordello had left Malakias feeling a bit unsettled. Normally, a client losing their shit was not an unusual occurrence. Sex, drugs, and alcohol were, admittedly, an explosive mix and if you added the fact that most of their clients were preternatural beings then you expected things to happen.

However, the other night's events, coupled with the fact that there were a few rumors of other vampires who had also become "unstable" in the last week, it only added to Malakias's concerns.

"Cleo," Malakias started with a slow and welcoming grin. "Just the person I was looking for," he said as he nodded at a passing waiter, indicating that he wanted the same as "his employee".

Cleo glanced over at Malakias when he called her name, a bit unnerved by the fact that he had been "looking for her." That never meant anything good, especially in their line of work. Yet she still put on a friendly smile, despite any apprehensions she had.

"Mr. Volkov, I certainly wasn't expecting to find you here." She said, straightening herself up and turning to better face Mal. There was an open seat nearby if he wanted to sit. "Is there something wrong?"

Mal shot Cleo another grin when she mentioned being surprised to see him there.

"You'd be very surprised at the places where you can find me, and the things I'm privy to too," the werewolf stated, his tone light, despite his words being somewhat ominous.

Glancing at Cleo calmly, Mal said nothing and waited a moment for his drink to arrive before answering her other question. Once the wine was on the table, Mal thanked the waiter and paid for both drinks before continuing.

"To answer your last question, yes. Something is wrong," the werewolf confided.

"I suppose you have heard about the incident at the bordello the other evening?" Malakias started as he took a sip of his drink and looked at Cleo curiously, waiting to hear her reply.

Cleo nodded as Mal mentioned the recent incident in the bordello. "Ah. That." She answered. "Truth be told, I did. Though that wasn't the only incident I've heard about. People are talking." Cleo had heard plenty of hushed whispers already about what was happening with the vampires. And if Mal was here now, then things could only have gotten worse.

There wasn't even a rhyme or reason to the attacks, at least not from the sounds of it. Vampires wouldn't.. Shouldn't be stupid enough to attack people like this. And in a place full of them, surely there more legal ways to get blood? "None of this makes sense." Cleo said, before taking another sip of wine.

"Yes, people are talking about it," Mal agreed, satisfied by the fact that Cleo seemed to have her ear to the ground. It was exactly what he had hoped to hear when he had decided to seek her out this evening.

"And that is why I am here right now," Mal admitted as he toyed with his glass while studying Cleo calmly from across the table.

"I need people who can move freely on the streets, people who are not knowingly affiliated with me or my wolves," he elaborated.

"People, like you, who can report back to me about whether there have been more vampires affected by whatever is causing all this," he stated matter-of-factly as he looked directly at Cleo.

Cleo nodded as Mal spoke. Not at all surprised by what Mal was suggesting. She'd been on the island for less then a week, and most of that time had been spent moving in. It was unlikely anyone without inside knowledge of the Volkovs knew she was working with them.

She took a short a moment to glance around the bar to make sure no one was listening in, or paying much attention to exactly who she was talking to before she responded. After all, if Mal wanted her to be his eyes and ears on the street because she wasn't associated with Mal or the Volkovs, getting caught talking to him would certainly be a problem.

"Well." Cleo began, once she was confident no one was paying them any mind. "I was planning to pay a visit to some of the casinos around the strip tonight, and I'll be sure to pay some visits to the other bars as well." Cleo said, gesturing vaguely to the bar around them. "Alcohol is great for helping people to.. talk. Someone will slip up, likely sooner rather than later. And if I do hear anything, you will absolutely be the first one to know."

Mal also glanced around the bar when Cleo did. He was pretty sure they were safe from prying eyes and ears, but you never quite knew who was hiding in the shadows or lurking within earshot.

"The casinos and bars, huh?" Mal remarked as he toyed with the idea. "I like it," he said after a moment of serious consideration.

"Maybe you can have someone go with you?" he suggested, his mind going through all the possible people she might be able to look up.

"There is another person, relatively new to the island. My boys have been watching him for a while now, and he appears to be unaffiliated with any one group."

"His name is supposedly Adryan," Malakias explained, not too sure if it was his street name or not.

Cleo

Cleo narrowed her eyes when Mal suggested she take someone along with her. She wasn't opposed to the idea, but more so who Mal was suggesting she go with. She was still new to the island, and one of the newest members of the Volkov's and didn't want to end up on Mal's bad side because she got put on a job with some moron who didn't know what they were doing. I.. Very well." Cleo said choosing not to voice her concerns and trust Mal's judgement. Even if she didn't like it.

The name dropping of Adryan certainly didn't help matters. "Adryan?" Cleo repeated, wondering why the name sounded familiar, before going wide eyed. "Wait. You don't mean Adryan Speed, do you? The thief?"

Mal smiled, a wide wolfish grin that could be slightly intimidating. He was clearly amused by Cleo's reaction.

"So, you know Mr. Speed, I take it?" he continued, enjoying Cleo's confusion as to why he wanted them to join forces.

"It's said he is extremely talented at being able to infiltrate the most obscure places without being detected," Malakias explained, relating to Cleo the rumours that he and his men had heard, and been able to confirm to some extent.

"I want you to contact him. Get him on our side... I am willing to pay well for the right information," he told her.
