Adelina laughed when she mentioned that she was the smartest. "Well, that's good," she said with a smile. When Jolin said it was her first day, she nodded. She had thought as much when she first saw the girl. "Yeah, I thought so. I've been here for a few months, myself. It's sort of boring here, but there's always a good amount of drama, I suppose." She laughed, then shook her head. "But anyway, yeah, glad that nothing horrible has happened yet."

Jolin nodded at the older girl's response.

"Lots of drama? Liek what?" she asked. She was always fairly curious. She wondered if it had anything to do with some of the students she had seen who were all quiet and always seemed to be off in their own world of darkness. She shook her head so she wouldn't get carried away with her thoughts.

"Well..." Adelina began, thinking for a few moments of good examples. "There's always fights going on between people... there's quite a few violent and murderous kids here." She shook her head, her thoughts going back to when she had met Jira. He had threatened her with a gun just because she had been following him. "And there's some pretty weird people here, too. Violence, weird people, plus powers, equals drama sometimes." She smiled at her own little equation, and shook her head once again. It didn't really sound all that dramatic... but to her, it was. Or maybe she just had a dramatic life... oh, well.

Jolin's eyes widened as the older girl mentioned the murderous people. She suddenly felt very insecure about her powers. What could she really do to protect herself? The thought deeply scared her. She tried not to let it show, but her attempts failed when her face went pale, and so did her food and hair. Even the blacks of her eyes turned white, though the actual color part just grew a bit lighter. When she spoke her voice shook a little.

"Oh... I see..."

Adelina blinked upon seeing the girls reaction. Had she said something wrong? Why was her appearance changing like that? The girl seemed afraid... oh, dear, it was because she had mentioned the murderous people, wasn't it? Adelina bit the inside of her lip. She hadn't meant to scare her... oops.

"Sorry if I scared you..." the seventeen-year-old said. "I honestly didn't mean to. There aren't many murderous people here, to tell the truth... but there are va — nevermind! Anyway, sorry. I guess you should just kind of take it as a warning..." The young woman's face went red and she started stuffing pieces of her cake into her mouth. She should have known better than to say such things in front of a girl so young! And to almost mention vampires and werewolves? If Jolin was afraid of murderous humans, she would have had a heart attack upon hearing about those creatures.

I'm such an IDIOT!! she thought to herself, sighing inwardly.

Jolin swallowed.

"It's alright. I know you didn't mean to scare me, it's just... you know what my powers are. What could I possibly do if I needed to defend myself someday?"

By now Jolin's head was thinking. She was going through all of the things she had done with her powers in her life. What could she do?

"There aren't many murderous people here, to tell the truth...but there are va — nevermind!"

Jolin swallowed again. She didn't need the girl to finish the words. Vampires. She was in school with vampires. But they weren't all bad right?

"I hope so..." she said out loud, not caring that the other girl had no clue what she was talking about.

".... What could I possibly do if I needed to defend myself someday?"

Adelina swallowed the food that was in her mouth, and thought for a moment. There wasn't much... but she wasn't going to tell Jolin that. She didn't want to discourage her or frighten her anymore than she already had. "You could learn to use a weapon or something," she said with a smile.

"I hope so..."

The young woman blinked. "Huh? What do you hope?" she tilted her head to side slightly, very confused as to what Jolin was talking about.

"You could learn to use a weapon or something"

Jolin thought about it for a moment. She had already had a little bit of training with a weapon, but that was just family tradition, she had never learned anything serious. At least, not anything she remembered.

"I guess so..." she replied, in an attempt to sound optimistic.

She realized she had confused the girl with her comment.

"Oh, it's nothing. I was thinking of something I heard in a movie once...

She took a couple deep breaths and her eyes, hair, skin, and salad returned to their normal colors. She shook her head a little bit.

"So how long have you known about your powers?" she asked in an attempt to change the subject.

"I guess so..."

"That's the spirit," Adelina said with a smile. She wasn't sure if the girl was actually thinking about it, or if she just wanted to reply in some way, so she just left the subject at that. The seventeen-year-old knew how to use a sword, and she would had offered to teach the girl, but... well, she wasn't exactly a great teacher.

"Oh, it's nothing. I was thinking of something I heard in a movie once..."

Adelina nodded. She still didn't understand how it fit the situation, but she decided not to ask anymore. She figured it would be best to let the subject of anything murderous at this academy die.

"So how long have you known about your powers?"

She was glad when that change of subject came. "I've known since I was a little kid," she said. "My whole family had powers. What about you?"
