While Iaemor wasn't the greatest romantic in the world. He had shown that up to now he could fake it quite well. It was the early morning of Valentines day, and the previous day had been quite a long one. Cairo was still in hospital, but he had to leave in order to sate his hunger. He didn't want to hold out to long, ending up losing control and hurting her. Though Iaemor had not let the fact he had to leave her bedside go to waste. Meeting up with a few of his servants and getting them track down one of the few pieces of writing from this world he had read since getting here. He had also joined the search and had shocking managed to find what he was after in the city underground, in an ancient looking book shop.

Slipping into the hospital room Cairo was kept in. He made sure to move as gracefully as he could so as not to wake her. A somewhat difficult task due to the fact he was juggling multiple items in his arms. In amazing quietness, Iaemor placed down a small vase with a little water in it. Down on the side table and placed a single rose into it. Afterwards he placed a large wrapped packet next to it. Inside a original version of 'The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe' and illustrated by Gustave Doré. It was large, and old. Also exceedingly rare. Lastly he placed down a valentines day card onto of the book package. Before silently slipping out of the room just as he had entered. Loitering by the door, so that he could watch over her and hopefully catch her reaction to the gifts.

Inside the card, referencing the book he had given her. The book that had helped him in writing that first poem to her. It read as follows.

'My Dear Raven.

Happy Valentines Day, and wishes to you getting well soon.
While I may not be at you bedside when you wake. I promise you.

You will be alone nevermore.

Iaemor.'

Cairo stirred, gently prying her mind away from the heavy weight of sleep. Had someone been watching her..? No. It was that someone wasn't watching her. Iaemor was gone. Cairo let herself collapse back onto the bed, about to let herself go back to sleep when she noticed the flower on her bedside table. That hadn't been there before, so Iaemor must have left it.

Next to the flower vase was a wrapped gift, and ontop of that, a valentines day card. Shit. Was that today? She'd never celebrated the hallmark holiday. She'd never thought to get Iaemor anything. Cairo reached out, pulling both card and gift onto the bed next to her. She wouldn't open the latter until he got back. She wanted him to be there next to her as she did, which meant waiting until tomorrow if necessary.

The card, she opened and read, and started weeping. You will be alone nevermore. She cried tears of joy and tears of depression and of love and loneliness. He was dedicated, but he wasn't allowed to be. She loved him, but she couldn't stay with him. She couldn't give him what he needed, couldn't be near him without risking his safety. Cairo knew all the ways this could go wrong, but she still dreamed of all the ways this could go right.

Iaemor from the otherside of the door watched over her in secret. While waiting a nurse had asked him what he was doing so Iaenor said he was waiting because he didn't want to wake Cairo which they seemed to accept. It wasn't the longest wait in the world, but it certainly felt like it. When she finally started to stir, he made sure to stay hidden and peak in through the doors window. Hoping that she wouldn't look his way, as in order to see himself he couldn't remain 100 percent concealed. His hopes seemed to pay off as he watched her notice the items on the bed side.

His expectations were answered as precisly though. He had expected her read the card first, and then open then present wondering what it was. Instead she seemed to break down and start crying. He didn't know why exactly though. He knew that people sometimes cried out of happiness, but he had yet to learn the subtle nature of identifing the distinction between the two. He knew though that remaining hidden by the door was unlikly to help him figure it out though.

He waited a short moment, in order to allow her to gather herself slightly if she was able to. Knowing people could be embarresed about crying in front of another, even though it wouldn't have been the first time. Once he felt a suitible amount of time had passed for her to try and calm down, he carefully turned the door handle. Still trying to be quiet like he had earlier but not excepting her to miss his entrace now that she was awake. "Happy Valentines day Cairo." He said in a measure tone, smiling at her as he crossed over to the bedside.

Sitting down on the edge of the bed next to her, he put his hand gently on the duvet so that it rested on her knee. "I hope you do not mind this old man intruding for the day." He said with a small chuckle, patting her leg through the sheets again. "How are you feeling today?" He asked hoping that she was recovering, abd that her emotional episode hadn't put too much strain on her body.

Cairo curled up around the card, sobbing like a child. She heard Iaemor speak, and she struggled to wipe away her tears like he wouldn't notice. Of course he'd been right outside the fucking door. He cared too much to leave for so long. His voice was gentle and caring and she just started sobbing again, twisting around and turning so that she could sob with her head on his lap. Cairo knew she wouldn't be able to speak too clearly in this state.

"I'm sorry... I can't... I can't do this. The second I walk out of this hospital my curse is going to kill you. It doesn't just fade away like other people. It's not just a constant. It grows and accumulates until i can't control it and then it kills, Iaemor. It'll kill you. It killed my mom, my dad, my aunt, twenty-four students under the age of 16. I can't trust myself to keep it under control if i'm relaxed. Don't think i didn't notice the state you left in the night you came into my room. That was all the curse."

Ieamor wasn't entirely sure how to react to Cairo. While she curled up next to him and buried her head in his lap as she cried. An acted that showed more and more that she was growing to trust him, her muffled words made clear her fears about why she was trying so hard before to push him away. She had mentioned it before, but never going into the details of those who had already suffered from its effect. She had lost her family, no wonder she was terrified of it killing those who got close to her.

Ieamor knew that simply dismissing such well founded fears, wasn't something that he could pull out from thin air. While he could quite happily state, that he wasn't worried because of his incredible resilience and immortal nature, combined with the fact that her curse didn't seem to be divine in nature, the chink in his armour. He knew though, with such deep routed fears, trying to explain that would fall on deaf ears.

"A state I may have been in, but harmed I was not." Ieamor answered gently placing his hand on her head in his lap. "I know that you won't just let that sit, so I will have to think of someway to show you that bad luck will not be taking this demon down." It was a mixed attempt a reassurance and a statement of intent. He was a few millennia old after all, he didn't want to believe that random chance could pull off, what those more powerful then him had attempted out of actual intention.

Cairo sniffled, moving his hand from her head to her lips, holding it close enough to feel the gentle breath over air over it as she whispered.

"I don't want you to show me. I don't want to know that you think you're invincible. It'll find a way, Iaemor. It always does. You might not be able to die by normal means, but Iaemor this is Manta Carlos. Something somewhere is capable of killing you and if you stay with me... It'll find you. I don't want to kill anyone else. I can't watch you die. I can't. I watched my father grieve my mother for years. I watched my father die. I watched twenty-four corpses get loaded into ambulances. I watched fifty seven restaurants get shut down because I couldn't keep things under control. I left my aunt brain dead in the hospital when I came here. You can't stay."

As Ieamor had expected his words had done little to reassure her. Her words push forward the pain she had been through, and the fact she didn't want him to come to harm like those in past made Ieanor believe that she had started to care for him. She was so adament, and Ieanor could respect the subborness over the issue. She wasn't being stubborn like most people were, fueled by pride and a desire to be right, but the desire not to do harm. In his mind that made her a better person then him.

Deciding that words were simple going to fail once more in getting over his intent that he wasn't going to be pushed away. Ieamor decided on action instead. The hand she had moved from her head, feeling her breath moved closer. His thumb gently brushing over her lip once, before moving to her cheek and wipping away the slight wetness from her earlier tears. He was worried that his following actions would be regected, pushed away once again due to her fears. However despite the somber tone in the air, it was still Valentines day. He had given gifts but felt there was something that was the most important to give on such a day to the target of one's affection.

His hand on her cheek slowly turned her head in his lap so that would end up looking towards the ceiling, the back of her head resting against his leg. Her view then filled as Ieamor leaned down towards her, straining his back some what due to the position. He moved slowly, slow enough so that Cairo would more then have the chance to push him back as he expected she would. However if she didn't, his lips would meet hers gently. A tender kiss not short but not so long that it be overbaring. Then straightening back away from her. He would smile and speak gently. "If there is a will. There is a way. No matter the odds."
